I am on the Bernie Events slack team, one of 11 or so Slacks including my own Westchester4Bernie Slack, that I am on. The Sanders campaign made great use of Slack. Campaign staffers could share info with organizers such as myself, resources and knowledge shared in an instant.

The reporting on the resignations were incongruent with what these staffers posted on the Events Slack. Now at least one of those staffers is back. Kyle Machado sent out an OR email tonite, and also posted on the Events Slack.

For the most part what happens on a Slack stays on that Slack, but since Kyles Our Revolution email was sent out I have no problem posting it here:

Brothers and Sisters,

I am so happy to write you on this Labor day weekend. I want to start by reminding you all about the importance of this weekend, and the fact that it was radical movements and organizers who brought about the national holiday itself, and more importantly, labor regulations that have shaped labor in this country for nearly two centuries. The OSHA act, the Children's Bureau, the 8 hour work day, the Department of Labor, and dozens of other victories have come our way, all because of mass movements. As you enjoy this weekend, I ask you to consider all of the comforts we enjoy as a result of the labor movement, and the fights we've yet to win. With that being said, i'd like to speak a bit about Our Revolution.

To begin, I believe that the fundamental change that must occur in America can only occur through, first, a massive shift in consciousness, and second, an interconnected, cohesive and people powered grassroots mass movement which is driven to affect radical change. During the course of the primary, Bernie’s message and your hard work brought together millions. We came together over one simple idea: the people of this country deserve equity, justice, and peace. While we all have our favorite progressive battles, be it social, racial, economic, or environmental justice, we have banded together to solve these problems, as a collective. We know that this is the only way we can win. We are servants of the movement – each of us contributing our small part to the greater whole, joining one another in brotherly and harmonious action.

There have been a number of stories that have come out since we last communicated. Many have implied that the vital work that we have done in the past, and had planned to do in the future, would be mostly impossible under the legal structure of this new organization. I am here to affirm one thing: we will launch a vigorous and robust series of organizing campaigns, and will fit well within our legal confines of our organization. We will begin by opening the phone lines – calling for Mike Connelly and Pat Jehlen, and organizing around those candidate’s existing canvassing events in MA. Later in the week, we’ll be texting voters in the area reminding them to get out and vote. As we move forward, we will be rolling out a series of programs which will organize around candidate and issue campaigns, some of them totally new, others you’re familiar with. We'll also be launching an anti-TPP campaign shortly, and organizing around our 7 ballot measures and initiatives will begin soon. Our Revolution’s organizing strategy will embrace the power of the movement, and will seek to affect change by empowering leaders both on the ground and over the web. During the campaign, we had an organizing strategy which allowed us to bring the grassroots to your living room. Thanks to that strategy, and to you, we made more than 75 million calls, sent millions of text messages, won 23 primaries, and so much more. Grassroots organizing is bound by space no longer. You are immensely powerful exactly where you are – this fact is not trivial.

I am deeply excited about the direction of Our Revolution. The road ahead is full of promise, and I believe that Our Revolution has positioned itself to change the course of our democracy. I am confident that the new diverse board of directors (which can be found here), composed of grassroots leaders who you’re all familiar with, will lead this organization into a future of action oriented change. These grassroots leaders are a people who have led the movement, who have spent their days on the ground, fighting our fight. They understand what it means to not only talk the talk, but to walk the walk. I trust them, and the leaders of this organization, to guide us as we trudge this sometimes uncertain road of promise. That future of promise includes two facts – that the struggle will continue. But also, that we’ll be struggling alongside one another, to victory, justice, to peace. To a greater Nation, and World.
