Release of FBI Email Investigation Documents - UPDATED

Thank you, Leu2500 Wink I ain't got a monopoly on this stuff - there's WAAAAAY too much of it at this point.

EDIT: I AM ADDING INFORMATION AS I BUMP INTO IT... more is coming online.

FBI releases Hillary Clinton email investigation

Wait for it... we'll still be told there are no smoking guns from the surrogates. I don't know about you all, but the deeper we get in this mess, the more frequently I feel I need a shower:

The FBI on Friday released a detailed report on its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, as well as what appears to be a summary of her interview with agents, providing the most thorough look yet at the probe that has dogged the campaign of the Democratic presidential nominee.

The documents, which total 58 pages, do not seem to provide any major revelations about Clinton’s actions — though they paint her and her staff as either unaware of or unconcerned with State Department policies on email use. The materials also show that the FBI was unable to track down all of Clinton’s devices, including phones, it sought, and that made it impossible for agents to definitively answer every question they had, including whether Clinton’s emails were hacked.

“The FBI’s investigation and forensic analysis did not find evidence confirming that Clinton’s e-mail accounts or mobile devices were compromised by cyber means,” the author of the report wrote. “However, investigative limitations, including the FBI’s inability to obtain all mobile devices and various computer components associated with Clinton’s personal e-mail systems, prevented the FBI from conclusively determining whether the classified information transmitted and stored on Clinton’s personal server systems was compromised via cyber intrusion or other means.”

What's been released is just a fraction of what the material they've got. There are interviews with dozens of Clinton staffers and State Department officials. They talked to Powell. Summary says she was generally consistent with them as with what she had said publicly. She frequently said she did not recall specifics. She claimed she used it for convenience rather than avoid FOIA and other laws. She never asked for nor got permission for the server.

I have to add this paragraph because I just CANNOT get my head around this in the slightest:

Much of the interview, which is described in an 11-page summary, appears to have consisted of FBI agents showing Clinton specific email exchanges that they determined included classified content and asking her to comment. Repeatedly, Clinton said she could not remember the specific exchange but had trusted at the time that her staff at the State Department knew how to handle classified material and would not email her material they should not. The exact nature of those classified emails are redacted in the version of the summary released by the FBI but it is clear they included deliberations on drone targets. Shown one July 2012 email she exchanged with President Obama at his own highly secure address, Clinton indicated that she recalled sending the note on an airplane during a trip to Russia.

The paragraph REALLY ends there. What?! What SINGLE part of this paragraph is ok with ANYONE?! It's everyone else's responsibility/fault, not hers.

The POLITICO story (see link below) has more about drones:

When discussing a redacted email, for example, Clinton “stated deliberation over a future drone strike did not give her cause for concern regarding classification,” and Clinton “understood this type of conversation as part of the routine deliberation process.” The U.S. treats drone operations conducted by the CIA as classified, even though in a 2012 internet chat Presidential Barack Obama acknowledged U.S.-directed drone strikes in Pakistan

HenryWallace this is for you:

Clinton also told the FBI that she played no role in sorting her work and personal emails after she left office other than to instruct her legal team to submit to the State Department all those emails that were “work-related or arguably work related.”

Do the rest of you glaze over after a few paragraphs like I do?

Hat Tip to dance you monster for providing this link (please do not remove your comment)

Clinton Used Eight BlackBerrys, but FBI Couldn’t Get Them

The report shed light on how Clinton viewed her understanding of the handling of classified information. The FBI said Clinton couldn’t give an example of how the classification of a document was determined and that “she relied on career foreign service professionals to appropriately mark and handle classified information.” She added that she didn’t recall receiving any e-mails that shouldn’t have been sent on an unclassified system.

“She relied on State officials to use their judgment when emailing her and could not recall anyone raising concerns with her regarding the sensitivity of the information she received at her email address,” according to the report. “Shown copies of emails marked ‘Confidential’ and ‘Top Secret/SAP,’ Clinton said she didn’t believe those e-mails contained classified information.”

(MsGrin: I am sorry, but WHAT did that just say? They showed her confidential emails and she denied they were confidential?!)

The FBI also said in its summary that Clinton denied using her private e-mail to avoid federal open records laws. But it showed that she was warned about the system by one of her predecessors. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell “warned Clinton that if it became ‘public’ that Clinton had a BlackBerry, and she used it to ‘do business,’ her e-mails could become ‘official record[s] and subject to the law.”’ He told her to be “very careful” using the system.

From POLITICO

Clinton told FBI she relied on others' judgment on classified material

The FBI’s documents provide a glimpse into the probe that Republicans have said reached the wrong conclusion.

Hillary Clinton never received training on how to handle classified information. By her own admission, she had little ability to discern whether a document included sensitive information. And when she did handle sensitive materials, she relied on her subordinates to ensure that nothing important was compromised.

Taken together, her responses to questions from FBI investigators reveal a high-level government executive who apparently had little grasp of the nuances and complexities around the nation’s classification system — a blind spot that helped allow classified communications to pass through her private email server.

The POLITICO piece also indicates that the FBI was concerned about phishing, and quotes her responding to an email which apparently contained a potentially malicious link, quoting her asking if the 'sender' is "really you" because she was concerned about opening the email. Oh, dear.

Hat Tip to dkmich in another essay for posting the Reuters link:

Clinton tells FBI she could not recall all briefings on preserving documents

I thought the concussion was supposed to be a nothing-burger:

Hillary Clinton, under questioning by federal investigators over whether she had been briefed on how to preserve government records as she was about to leave the State Department, said she had suffered a concussion, was working part-time and could not recall every briefing she received.

"However, in December of 2012, Clinton suffered a concussion and then around the New Year had a blood clot," the FBI's summary said. "Based on her doctor's advice, she could only work at State for a few hours a day and could not recall every briefing she received."

Reuters has a bit to add to the Powell portion of this discussion:

In his reply to Clinton via email, Powell told Clinton to "be very careful" because the work-related emails she sent on her BlackBerry could become public record. "I got around it all by not saying much and not using systems that captured the data," Powell said, according to the summary.

Reuters says that there were 81 threads of conversations which were classified at that time, and it is believed the total number of those classified emails is over 2000.

From The Hill

FBI releases report on Clinton email investigation

Here are portions not reported elsewhere:

But the pages released Friday appear to only be a portion of the materials sent to Congress.

The 11-page summary of the FBI’s interview with Clinton is likely the most complete record of the conversation, which was neither on the record nor recorded, in accordance with FBI policy.

“It was a matter of convenience to move onto a system maintained by her husband’s staff,” according to the investigator’s notes.

The decision not to recommend an indictment was “unanimous” within the FBI, according to Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Dro posted a link which had this link to the actual FBI press release embedded:
3>FBI Releases Documents in Hillary Clinton E-Mail Investigation

Today the FBI is releasing a summary of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s July 2, 2016 interview with the FBI concerning allegations that classified information was improperly stored or transmitted on a personal e-mail server she used during her tenure. We also are releasing a factual summary of the FBI’s investigation into this matter. We are making these materials available to the public in the interest of transparency and in response to numerous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Appropriate redactions have been made for classified information or other material exempt from disclosure under FOIA. Additional information related to this investigation that the FBI releases in the future will be placed on The Vault, the FBI’s electronic FOIA library.

From the release, one can click through to The Vault with a disclaimer which disappeared when I clicked to try to copy it.

Clinton emails wiped clean after NYT story

A number of Hillary Clinton’s private emails were erased weeks after The New York Times published a story reporting on her use of a private email server while secretary of State, according to notes from the FBI’s investigation released on Friday.
(snip)
The deletion took place between March 25 and March 31, the FBI learned in a May 3 interview. The name of the person who deleted the emails was redacted from the FBI’s notes.

“In a follow-up FBI interview on May 3, 2016, ------ Indicated he believed he had an 'oh s--t' moment and sometime between March 25-31, 2015 deleted the Clinton archive mailbox from PRN server and used BleachBit to delete the exported .PST files he had created on the server system containing Clinton;s e-mails,” the FBI notes released on Friday stated.

She didn't now/can't recall. At lunch one of her surrogates called her "tremendously competent." Not based on what she told the FBI. (On phone; can't link)

The WaPost said something like nothing she said to FBI contradicted what she told the public. Hah! Here's one: she told the FBI that she didn't recall who told her to use personal email account. Where as she's been telling us this month that she did on powell's advice, to the point that Powell went to the press to deny it.

I'm sure to video is being put together as we speak.

A poster here and I have been having a discussion about what's known and not known about information being disappeared (nearly everything published is vague and not forget definitive, not even very suggestive), and he sent me a link I'd seen before, but I'd seen it prior to Hillary having asserted on TV that getting the separate email had been recommended to her, so it did not stick in my mind.

The OTHER person who suggested it (and actually worked on it) was Justin Cooper who also was the person who filed the domain registry for clintonemail.com as I recall.
http://thompsontimeline.com/tag/justin-cooper/
2006 or Earlier: Justin Cooper provides computer help to Clinton and her aides well before Clinton becomes secretary of state.

In September 2015, Clinton’s future deputy chief of staff Huma Abedin will be interviewed under oath by the House Benghazi Committee. She will reveal that when she had an email or other computer problem while working on Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, or even earlier working as an aide when Clinton was a senator, Abedin would turn to Justin Cooper for help. “I usually called Justin. He was our go-to guy. He always was, you know, ‘I’m having a problem, can you help me fix it,’ and he always did…” She would also call on Cooper whenever Clinton was having an email problem.

Cooper will also be the person who suggests she get a clintonemail.com email account on Clinton’s private server shortly before Clinton becomes secretary of state, and then sets it up for her. This suggests his involvement managing Clinton’s private server starts early. Cooper is a longtime aide to Bill Clinton, but he apparently never has a government job or security clearance. (House Benghazi Committee, 10/21/2015)

Hillary Clinton used at least eight different mobile devices to send private e-mail during her tenure as secretary of state -- none of which were recovered by the FBI as part of its investigation into her communications practices as the nation’s top diplomat.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, in a heavily redacted summary of its probe released on Friday, said Clinton flouted security standards for official communications by relying on private e-mail for government business.

In addition to the eight devices she used as secretary of state, the FBI said there were at least five additional mobile devices they sought as part of their inquiry. Clinton’s lawyers said they could not provide any of the mobile devices she used. One person interviewed by the FBI said he recalled two instances in which Clinton’s devices were destroyed by “breaking them in half or hitting them with a hammer.”

The fact that Clinton could "not recall", "not remember" and was "unaware" of 90% of the things she was asked about suggests she is not only #SickHillary, but either lying or senile. (I just scanned the report on her testimony). Whatever! People say she is smart and I beg to differ.

From the Light House.

five outrageous things

Here are five of the most outrageous statements Clinton made in that three-and-a-half hour FBI interview:

1. She cited her 2012 concussion as the reason that she cannot remember details of briefings during her "transition out of office."

2. She said she never even thought whether emails she exchanged on a future U.S. drone attack should be classified.

3. She said she thought the "C" before a paragraph indicated alphabetical order. The C actually stands for "classified."

4. She said no one ever raised concerns to her about her use of a private email server.

5. She said she could not recall any training on how to handle classified information.

What's more, Clinton aides told the FBI that the Secretary of State frequently replaced her Blackberry phone and the whereabouts of her old device would become "unknown." The FBI report suggests there were at least 13 different devices used.

The Peter Principle is an observation that the tendency in most organizational hierarchies, such as that of a corporation, is for every employee to rise in the hierarchy through promotion until they reach the levels of their respective incompetence.
...

Dr. Peter summed up the Peter Principle with a twist on the old adage that "the cream rises to the top" by stating that "the cream rises until it sours." In other words, excellent employee performance is inevitably promoted to the point where the employee's performance is no longer excellent, or even satisfactory.

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/clinton-email-server-tor-227697

An unknown individual using the encrypted privacy tool Tor to hide their tracks accessed an email account on a Clinton family server, the FBI revealed Friday.

The incident appears to be the first confirmed intrusion into a piece of hardware associated with Hillary Clinton’s private email system, which originated with a server established for her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

The FBI disclosed the event in its newly released report on the former secretary of state’s handling of classified information.

According to the bureau’s review of server logs, someone accessed an email account on Jan. 5, 2013, using three IP addresses known to serve as Tor “exit nodes” — jumping-off points from the anonymity network to the public internet.

Here is a link to the article about Bluementhal and what he did when he was working for the foundation.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-07-07/nsa-whistleblower-clinton-email...
There is another link included in the article but I don't know if it's a right wing rag, but looking at the comments I think it might be but lately we seem to be getting more information from rw websites because they are the only ones covering this.
The author of the article said that he had written about this previously on the other website.
Here is what should put Bluementhal in the spotlight because he didn't have security clearance to even read the information he sent to Hillary.as well as put more pressure on Hillary's actions with using the email server.

As I explained in this column in January, one of the most controversial of Ms. Clinton’s emails released by the State Department under judicial order was one sent on June 8, 2011, to the Secretary of State by Sidney Blumenthal, Ms. Clinton’s unsavory friend and confidant who was running a private intelligence service for Ms. Clinton. This email contains an amazingly detailed assessment of events in Sudan, specifically a coup being plotted by top generals in that war-torn country. Mr. Blumenthal’s information came from a top-ranking source with direct access to Sudan’s top military and intelligence officials, and recounted a high-level meeting that had taken place only 24 hours before.

To anybody familiar with intelligence reporting, this unmistakably signals intelligence, termed SIGINT in the trade. In other words, Mr. Blumenthal, a private citizen who had enjoyed no access to U.S. intelligence for over a decade when he sent that email, somehow got hold of SIGINT about the Sudanese leadership and managed to send it, via open, unclassified email, to his friend Ms. Clinton only one day later.

How Mr. Blumenthal got his hands on this information is the key question, and there’s no firm answer yet. The fact that he was able to take four separate highly classified NSA reports—none of which he was supposed to have any access to—and pass the details of them to Hillary Clinton via email only hours after NSA released them in Top Secret / Special Intelligence channels indicates something highly unusual, as well as illegal, was going on.

Hillary surrounds herself with such sleaze balls and criminals -- David Brock, Blumenthal, Kissinger, her husband (kidding, sort of, but he is a sleaze ball), the list goes on. That alone says a lot about who she is, to me anyway.

How much time and money have been wasted "investigating" all her scandals? The email thing is what -- more than a year old? And the foundation -- that's been going on for longer, I think. Seems like we have more important stuff to sort out, but every day there's a new "holy shit, she actually did that?" Dog forbid she gets elected -- can you imagine 4/8 years of this nonsense?

Hillary Clinton’s Team Lost a Laptop Full of Her Emails in the Actual Mail
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/09/02/hillary-clinton-s-team-...

A laptop containing a copy, or “archive,” of the emails on Hillary Clinton’s private server was apparently lost—in the postal mail—according to an FBI report released Friday. Along with it, a thumb drive that also contained an archive of Clinton’s emails has been lost and is not in the FBI’s possession.
The Donald Trump campaign has already called for Clinton to be “locked up” for her carelessness handling sensitive information. The missing laptop and thumb drive raise a new possibility that Clinton’s emails could have been obtained by people for whom they weren’t intended. The FBI director has already said it’s possible Clinton’s email system could have been remotely accessed by foreign hackers.

You would think that something this important would be sent by carrier with secure chain of custody.

Maybe $$Hill can release slightly redacted transcripts of the emails, in book form, as a money-maker, once she's impeached and the speech money dries up.

Thanks for the link, by the way. After reading it, all I can think is, what a load of bullshit!! It's hard to believe that government information from the Secretary of State was handled in this way. Lost in the mail??? Puhleeeze!!! Nobody has a tracking number?!? When I forgot my e-tablet in Amsterdam it was shipped back to me with more care than this, and the only thing of value on it is my kick-ass score in "Bejeweled"!

This whole "lost in the mail.....or maybe it was UPS" is nothing but lies.

Amazing, the shit she gets away with.

But we're not supposed ponder and question her current status?

Riiiight!

Frankly, reading all this, it's a wonder she can get up in the morning and pull her potholder suit on.

What a fcuking ridiculous candidate for president.

And she has stylists? My God, the woman can't even dress herself. Or see potholders, or clashing pattern flood pants. Also, too, some mean comments about the latest hair-dos. I am not a lookist, but I can be.

Can you imagine if this was Bernie Sanders making up obvious lies and then saying he can't remember anything or blaming his staff. The MSM would be all over it -- calling him incompetent and worse, hinting he's too old (or maybe not even hinting), and screaming about him being a risk to national security.

Instead we get the mediots telling us that this is just politics, people, get over yourselves. What a farce! She should step down immediately. She has no business being president of anything.

Thanks for all the effort you put into this, Ms Grin! Well done!!

" I don't recall" 39 times? The media would be speculating that he had dementia.

But a 68/69 year old candidate with a history of blood clots & concussion says she can't recall & its crickets.

Unbelievable. I want to know who the fuck is pulling all the strings making all these orgs, outlets and people tapdance and do their bidding....
