Hillary, thy name is....

Hillary, thy name is Hypocrisy. And Double Standards and Holier Than Thou. Among many others.

So...Hillary gave a speech in Reno, Thursday, probably to change the media narrative from the Clinton Foundation. Friday's Morning Joe said that Hillary had taken the "unusual step" of delivering her entire speech to media in advance to ensure wide coverage. Nominally, the speech was about small business; in reality, it was about Trump's racism and anti-Semitism, which media was sure to put on blast. When it ended, Hillary refused to answer questions about the Clinton Foundation, instead offering reporters condescending praise and chocolates, as might Forrest Gump's abuela.

I cannot defend Trump against Hillary's charges. I'm not of the house and lineage of Obi-Wan: I can't pull off the whole "Those are not the comments you heard" thing. Not as to Donald--but also not as to Hillary. Hillary is much more self-protective and circumspect than Donald, but she has been guilty of many of the same things with which she so solemnly charged him.

Quite a few of Hillary's comments about Trump were of the "guilt by association" variety. However, Hillary can also be charged with guilt by association. Hillary's father was a conservative and active in the Republican Party. She cited her conservative roots recently. (She also cited her moderate and progressive policies. Gee, it's almost as though she tries to be all things to all people.) According to Hillary, she canvassed for Nixon at age 13-14 (October birthday, November election), was a Goldwater Girl at ages 17-18, headed Wellesley College Republicans at 18 and attended the Republican National Convention of 1968 when she was almost 21.

Hillary claims that she left the 1968 convention because she heard "veiled"racism. I find it impossible to believe that someone with her history did not hear at least racial dog whistles from Republicans until eight years in. For just one thing, the 1964, Goldwater campaign was based on "states' rights (also known as "states have a Constitutional right to enact and enforce Jim Crow laws"). (As an aside, pro-Hillary ads running now compare Trump 2016 to....Barry Goldwater 1964. You just can't make it up.) Yet, she attended the 1968 Republican National Convention.

In law school, Hillary met Bill Clinton. Born and raised in Jim Crow Arkansas, he was 18 before the Civil Rights Act passed and 19 before the Voting Rights Act passed--and full compliance with those laws was not instantaneous. (Please google for images of life under Jim Crow.) Additionally, he had been mentored and helped in politics since high school by Senator Fulbright, then a proud segregationist and one of the Senators who joined forces to filibuster the Civil Rights Act for many days. Did Hillary never hear a racist remark or dog whistle from Bill Clinton or his crowd? Did she never observe racist conduct from any of them? Did she speak out or walk away?

A last note for this post about guilt by association before focusing more on Hillary's own acts and omissions: Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, whom she considers a racist and an anti-Semite, have been good friends for many years. http://i.imgur.com/uXTP7bs.jpgU She claims that she was never friends with Donald, only Ivanka. However, her friendship with Ivanka certainly was not the reason that Hillary was invited to Donald's wedding to Melania, many years and a wife or two after he divorced Ivanka.

In Reno, Hillary evinced contempt for Trump's speaking of the Confederate flag and the heritage it represents (emphasizing heritage). When Arkansas Governor, Bill Clinton signed one bill stating that Arkansas shall celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day together with Robert E. Lee Day (1985) and another bill affirming that the star in the Arkansas state flag represents the Confederacy (1987). At no time, up until today, did Bill or Hillary, who still have clout in Arkansas, especially among Democrats, voice disapproval of either bill. Logical opportunities to do so have presented, including efforts made by Arkansans to rid themselves of these bills.

In 2015, Democratic Arkansas Rep. Charles Blake said of a bill that would have paired Robert E. Lee Day with a different holiday, “This would allow all [Arkansans] to honor our heritage and progress without them being in conflict with each other. We can celebrate our legacy and unity and celebrate the culture of our Southern roots.” Did Hillary school fellow Democrat Blake or is praising "heritage" wrong only when Trump says it? When asked about the Confederate flag flying at the South Carolina state house after the South Carolina shootings, Hillary made a weak sauce comment like "I'd like to see it come down." Granted that was better than Trump's comment, but was mildly expressing a personal preference enough for a Democratic Presidential hopeful who condemns Trump so strongly (which he deserves)?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/22/bill-clinton-arkansas-confedera...
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/01/29/why-arkans...

As Governor and First Lady, both Clintons led the annual celebration of Arkansas Confederate Flag Day, which kicked off Arkansas Confederate History and Heritage Month. At no time, up until today, did Bill or Hillary suggest that Arkansas should drop or modify this celebration. Trump's comment about the Confederate flag and heritage was unquestionably wrong, but what about Hillary's co-leading the actual celebrations of the Confederate flag and heritage? After all, Bill was Governor in the mid 1980s, not the mid 1860s, or even the mid 1950s.

Fortunately, that statement is false.

Trump will never occupy the Oval Office. Even most Republicans loathe him. Reince Priebus and Co. have been searching for ways to weasel out from under him (remember, once elected President, Trump would become Priebus' boss).

Besides which, mainstream Republicans already have a Presidential Candidate -- Hillary Clinton. Who will almost certainly be the next President.

Alas and alack for our poor country and our poor world!

So we Stein voters can vote with clean consciences, nationwide.......

Direct Evidence? And I mean now, not at the time of some future debate, if you please.

Thank you in advance.

n.b.: This is a one-way street, and you are the one doing all the "owing" here. The ;proposals that I am "brainwashed" and "100% WRONG" are extraordinary affirmative claims, demanding direct evidence that is strong, extraordinary, and first. As to my assertion that the GOP (or at least a significant portion thereof) wants rid of Trump, a search engine request for "GOP dump Trump" on ixquick yields at least 80 hits, including articles from GOP-loyalist entities such as USNews and World Report, RedState, and longtime conservative GOP activist S.E. Cupp.

One passage from Ms. Cupp epitomizes this movement in the GOP and my assertion that it is significant here:

I think it’s safe to say that history will be kind to those who had the courage to denounce the nativist, reckless, uninformed and ugly candidacy of Donald Trump..

Why, thank you, Ms. Cupp! Smile

Given how angry and hardened our politics have become, it’s easy to assume none of these defections will have any impact on the race.

Not so; they could tip the balance.

And Ms. Cupp is correct here; they could -- and, again unfortunately, will.

A couple other small points of order:

What we need as a nation is what Jill Stein is offering -- being offered by politicians and political organizations/entities with a fighting chance to actually get into power so they can be directly and decisively implemented. Once Bernie wasn't to be the Presidential Nominee in 2016, that was lost for at least another four years. I have no illusions that any vote I might cast -- regardless of how I do it -- has any other value save as a protest at this point. But that doesn't change the facts: we need to switch to a non-interventionistic foreign policy with a corresponding decrease in the size, scope and budget of our military, devoting the dollar savings to a World War II-style national mobilization to retool the entire United States for a full-employment, all-renewable-energy future (the only kind we can have -- it's that kind or none).

And again: Donald Trump will never be President. Too many of the big money and power players are far too invested in their reliable candidate puppet Hillary Clinton for them to permit anything else to occur.

Never Clintons! Never Trump! Fuck this shit!

A special prosecutor should have been appointed. That no Republican PTB pushed for that is suspect.

When the FBI investigation was announced, I thought the purpose of it was to clear her, to give her at least plausible deniability. And, indeed, I've heard media shills say that the bottom line of Comey's statement was that he found no evidence to warrant prosecution. When Obama endorsed her before the investigation ended, I assumed my first assumption was correct. No sitting President is going to endorse someone under a real FBI investigation if there is any chance of prosecution by the D of J.

…occurs in general elections. There are better and more reliable entry points to fix the vote.

Primary elections are actually more difficult to rig. The candidates and their staff are in state to witness the outcomes. Too many states, too many working parts. And too many observers. Rigging always gets exposed. (Not that it matters.)

If I understand correctly, states are working furiously to outlaw oversight and exit polls. There is an effort in Congress to do the same. Once Hillary is elected, dozens of monitoring loop holes will be sealed forever, and the barriers for third party participation will be made monolithic.

No, I am not at all happy that Hillary is likely to be the first female President. On the other hand, I am glad that someone may finally be the first woman President. I have some misgivings, though.

As both white people and people of color who criticized Obama around things like a strong public option got labeled racist, I cringed because I thought such things were a disincentive to some people for voting for the next President of color. (Early on, we had criticisms about both the "subtle racism of low expectations" and "the subtle racism of high expectations." Finding a sweet spot for a valid criticism did not exist. Every criticism was racist.

During the 2016 primary, I saw the same kinds of things as people who made valid comments were called sexist and misogynist. This kind of thing may make voting for the next female who aspires to the Presidency unattractive to some people, female and male alike. People want to be able to talk about a politician and his or her policies and accomplishments (or lack thereof) without feeling as though they have to navigate a land mine of charges of bigotry.

In my opinion, Clinton is about as far removed from FDR's Workers Bill of Rights as anyone could be and still be identified as a Democrat. The Clintons are among the group of corporate insiders who have made a mockery of the 20th century Democratic party ideals and turned the party into a 21st century anti-worker bad dream.

It is said, once in a while, if Rahm is a Democrat, who'd want to be a Democrat? Same for Hillary & Bill Clinton.

Lots of good information -- thanks.

New Democrats to disassociate themselves from the Democrats who preceded them. They want Republicans and indies to be clear that New Democrats are trying to be like Reagan, not FDR or LBJ. At the same time, they would like the ever diminishing liberal base to remember they are Democrats. It's called trying to have it every which way, which is a quintessential Clinton trait.

that poll after poll on specific issues shows the American voter to be far more progressive than the leaders of either party and even Sanders when you take his views into account. Sanders matches them in many areas but not foreign policy.

We have developed a political system than does not respond to the desires of the majority and pay no penalty for that fact. This contradiction cannot long exist. The question remains: Will the inevitable pushback for democracy result in progress or will the militarized police and the full range of corporate influence, especially including the media, result in an overt authoritarianism?

The Clinton Bush Haiti Fund is Lying to You

The cholera outbreak itself is a symptom of failed foreign policies and organizations that have left the Haitian people as poor as ever and disconnected from the mechanisms of their own development.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/crossover-dreams/the-clinton-bush-haiti-fu...

Red Cross Built Exactly 6 Homes For Haiti With Nearly Half A Billion Dollars In Donations

The neighborhood of Campeche sprawls up a steep hillside in Haiti’s capital city, Port-au-Prince. Goats rustle in trash that goes forever uncollected. Children kick a deflated volleyball in a dusty lot below a wall with a hand-painted the logo of the American Red Cross.

In late 2011, the Red Cross launched a multimillion-dollar project to transform the desperately poor area, which was hit hard by the earthquake that struck Haiti the year before. The main focus of the project — called LAMIKA, an acronym in Creole for “A Better Life in My Neighborhood” — was building hundreds of permanent homes.

Today, not one home has been built in Campeche. Many residents live in shacks made of rusty sheet metal, without access to drinkable water, electricity or basic sanitation. When it rains, their homes flood and residents bail out mud and water.

How the Clinton Foundation Got Rich off Poor Haitians

Clintons and the designation of how aid funds were used. They observed that a number of companies that received contracts in Haiti happened to be entities that made large donations to the Clinton Foundation. The Haitian contracts appeared less tailored to the needs of Haiti than to the needs of the companies that were performing the services. In sum, Haitian deals appeared to be a quid pro quo for filling the coffers of the Clintons.

After Bill lost the Arkansas governor's race in 1980, he vowed to become a "New Democrat"--tough on crime and less devoted to "special interest groups" like workers, women, people of color, etc. He began tacking to the right--more and more so as his successful campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992 came into sight. That shift culminated with his despicable decision to leave the presidential campaign trail and return to Arkansas to approve the execution of Ricky Ray Rector, a Black man with intellectual disabilities--all to prove just how tough on crime he could be.
Clinton's own shift corresponded to a broader trend in mainstream politics that pulled both parties further to the right, with racism often serving as the catalyst.

With Hillary in tow of course:

Around the same time, she justified welfare reform with an anecdote from a woman whose daughter supposedly told her, "Mommy, I'm tired of seeing you sitting around the house doing nothing." To make sure no one was missing the message, she later said that because of welfare reform, "these people are no longer deadbeats."

And her 2008 run against Obama?

Around the same time, supporters and campaign workers began loudly raising the issue of Obama's drug use, with some even posing rhetorical questions about whether Obama had been a drug dealer.
As the campaign heated up and Obama started racking up victories in the primaries, Clinton became even more direct. In one interview, she asserted that Obama lacked support among "hard-working Americans, white Americans."

Feel free to translate that as you will. Those epithets have about as much force of reason as any of Medusa's platitudinous blithering, such as we we must keep America strong. But how, Hillary? Oh, I know by enriching the top .01% even further.

Anyone who says there is no meaningful difference between them is dead nuts on unable to interpret subtlety and nuance.

Lol --- It is with ambivalent resignation that I predict Hillary will be our next president. She is untouchable --- she is above the law --- she is upper crust --- because she is super rich, and white, and a Clinton she can get away with murder (and perhaps literally). She makes me sick and so does her dickhead husband. I have no respect for either of them. They are evil personified! Fuck, fuck, fuck!
