As The World Burns: Climate Catastrophe - Hillary & Trump Fiddle, While Jill Has a Plan
In my video today, I discuss the current climate crisis that Hillary and Trump will ignore if elected, what scientists now call Anthropogenic Climate Disruption, or ACD. It's occurring much sooner than even the most "alarmist" scientific models predicted, and represents a real and present danger to us all.
In that video, I make the case for why neither Trump nor Hillary will do a a damn thing to stop the ongoing and accelerating catastrophic destruction of our planet's ecosystems, nor will they work to wean us away from our continued addiction to fossil fuels. Furthermore, I argue that (1) we must do everything in our power to get Jill Stein on the ballot in as many states as possible, and (2) we must raise her poll numbers so that she is included in the upcoming Presidential debates.
Only Jill and the Green Party have a comprehensive plan to combat ACD, or "climate change" if you prefer. Only she will speak the truth about our current climate crisis at those debates, and the necessity for immediate action on a massive scale by our government, and other governments around the world, to limit the harm already done by ACD , a danger to our species survival that will get much, much worse if we do nothing or adopt half-measures that would be ineffective, i.e., too little, too late.
Without Jill there, standing next to The Donald and Clinton on the national stage, the Presidential debates will be just one more infotainment train wreck in which the real issues facing our nation and the world will be ignored or elided. Without her, the debates will be a sham and a travesty, nothing more than an extended version of every bad realty TV show in which the participants make outrageous personal attacks, tell lies about themselves and their opponent, display their own narcissism while pimping themselves out for the attention of the American public and (of course) higher ratings for the television networks.
With her up there, the American public will have the rare opportunity to hear the truth about our nation's many problems, from racial injustice to income inequality, to the fact that our elections and our politics are democratic in name only. That in itself is vital.

I set up a recurring contribution for Bernie, but that won't fly for Jill. We have 6 weeks until the debates and they need all the resources they can get as soon as possible. Right after the convention, I'm dropping my entire GE budget on her (so it gets counted as GE money, not primary money.)

A note about Jill's VP choice, Ajamu Baraka
In Old Lefty speak, I was SLP until it collapsed and have had many people of ill repute among my known associates through the years. I have decided that Mr. Baraka really, really reminds me of the SWP. So I have labeled him, catagorized and cubbyholed him, and no longer find him so disturbing because I now understand him.
In the language of normal people, Mr. Baraka has been educated in Marxism. He fully understands economic power and its accompanying inequalities. He is an activist. He concentrates on the injustices being committeed today and doesn't really care about the long and winding history that has led to today's mess. [For instance, if you study the history of the Irish-English conflict, you'll find that although the English started it, there have been lots of sins committed by both sides. Ajamu doesn't care.] He firmly believes that being in the minority on intellectual issues does not make him incorrect.
And if you compare him to Stalin or the Communist Party, he'll probably punch you out.
He is peace loving. He would dearly like to see a revolution by ballot. If you meant it when you said you wanted a revolution, he's your man. If you still want to reform the Democratic Party, perhaps you should go elsewhere.

Now to the subject at hand, the climate emergency.
I firmly believe that another 4 or 8 years of business as usual would lead to disastrous results. Trump and Clinton can't do anything about it because they are addicted to the opium of big money. Johnson can't help because he's a Libertarian. That leaves Jill and her "human rights activist" buddy.
SS is supposed to come in today. I lack 30.00 meeting the 250 goal and I can take care of that. And after that Hawkfish is right - we need some serious support in money and in spreading the word. We need to fix bayonets and go.

I agree Steven this is the great challenge of our time. I'm kinda giving up on political solutions and working toward a local way of going green. We teach by example, and we're out of time. I plan to vote Green primarily to begin building a non-corporate party.
