To the Democrats in Office - You Have Lost My Vote Forever
Submitted by Steven D on Wed, 07/27/2016 - 1:55pm
I'm too exhausted and sick from my Philly trip to write what what I wanted to say, so I said it instead in the following video posted at my YouTube channel:

Hear, hear!
Bravo! What he said!
"They'll say we're disturbing the peace, but there is no peace. What really bothers them is that we are disturbing the war." Howard Zinn
You are so brave - take good care of yourself and get well soon
- same wishes to your lovely and beautiful daughter. Who is nursing whom? I hope you both get enough rest. Your video represents so well how I feel. Thank you.

On the nursing front, Mimi
Right now it's most me nursing her, but she did a lot of care taking of me in Philly before she got sick, so that's only fair.

Pretty much.
They won't even bother to do kabuki anymore.
The Dems are actively trying to get rid of us.
Their hypocrisy when it comes to independents and disgust for people who don't toe the party line is unbelievable. It's not just the Clintons anymore. It's the entire party apparatus.
We're not "real Dems"
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
Well, we're real Dems here at c99,
but only if we are measured against FDR, Adlai Stevenson, JFK, Bobby K., HHH, Congressman Father Drinan, Dennis Kucinich, etc. Sadly, there's no more room for them in today's Dem party than there would be for Everett Dirksen, Ike, Lowell Weicker, Hugh Scott, Ed Brooke, Abe Lincoln, T.R., etc in the 2016 Republican party.
America, we hardly knew ye.
"Just call me Hillbilly Dem(exit)."

What do we call formerly known as Dems?
I am going with Green and erase past history.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
It will be to their own detriment.
Oh well, so be it.
I was thinking earlier today about how voting D is like being in an abusive relationship: they lie and attack us and tell us how voting for them is our only choice, we'll have nice things if we just do what they say and vote for them, 'vote for us or else' all their bullshit threats.
But people are slowly realizing this, and I hope enough people are saying enough is enough, you aren't doing this to us anymore, that the party shrivels and dies after this. Good riddance!
And now to go purge my FB of the remaining Democrat pages I follow (Except Tim Canova, I'm going to keep following that race.)
This shit is bananas.
"You have no values, no values at all" -- nailed it, Steven D!
Thanks for this, I'm with you.
Take care of yourself! Hope you and your daughter are feeling better soon.

Thank you for
expressing what many others feel about their current representatives. 2 more NY voters who will also not vote for incumbent Democrats again. Wrote both Schumer and Gillibrand months ago about their disrespect for their constituents by supporting Clinton as a superdelegate before the people of NY had a chance to vote. No surprise that they didn't even have the courtesy to respond.
Another NY voter going similarly, Green and no incumbents
(except for my Town Board, all D, who led us to ban fracking first!). Good performance like that will be rewarded with loyalty. But all are put on notice: this is not a til-death-do-us-part arrangement. I can pull the plug. I have standards.

Steve, I worked a number of years in Rottenchester (so happy to have left there) and am familiar with Slaughter.
I totally agree with you
Going Green in 2016!
How I plan to vote:
Green candidates
Democrats ENDORSED SPECIFICALLY by Bernie
If no Green candidates: WFP (unless cross-listed with Democrats)
Libertarian
Indie (I know its corrupt in NY but they have nothing on the DNC in that department)
When I was a kid, Republicans used to red scare people, now it's the Democrats. I am getting too damn old for this crap!
be well, Steven D
and here I thought
corporate neocons
were fighting for us.
fighting to con us
at re-election time.
PS. thanks for going to PA to protest.
get well.
take some me-time, if you get the opportunity
New York seems like an especially tough place . . .
because the party machine is so deeply embedded into the politics. Reform from the inside is likely nearly impossible.
What are your thoughts on groups like the Working Families Party, which make strategic alliances with the Dems where it makes sense, and who risked support by backing Sanders in Clinton's backyard this cycle (e.g. lost some union support as a consequence, although I believe others unions may have increased their support)?
I think states where the state party infrastructure is weaker, may have a lot more growth and reform potential. e.g. many GOP dominated states where Sanders won, in some cases by large margins. Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming, Alaska, Idaho. There may be an additional opportunity given what has happened with the GOP itself in some of those states. Social conservatives and progressives may not agree on a number of issues, but during the primary they seemed to strongly agree in many of those states that both Clinton and Trump were awful.
I have been foot-dragging about calling
the Upstate WFP rep. If I feel up to it, I will call after the end of the debacle to ask if WFP has a plan. Give em a few days.

22nd Congressional District
where I live. Hanna, R-not entirely insane is retiring. Republican candidate Claudia Tenney, whom Hanna has refused to endorse, will likely win on name recognition alone. She has posters and yard signs up all over, on even country roads. The Democrat is Kim Myers, daughter of the Dick's Sporting Goods fortune, who hardly seems to be campaigning at all.
I have seen no signs up anywhere and her website shows NO campaign appearances of any kind. One gets the impression that the Democrats would like to dispense with voters altogether.
Myers' issues tab has a section for farming and rural areas which seems like a good thing until you read it. She is calling for roads and railroads, of which there are plenty in fairly good repair already. What I take this to mean is that Chuck and Kirsten have promised Myers some federal cash for infrastructure in return for (my guess) her vote for the Schumer/Clinton/Netanyahoo war plans. There is a vibrant farm to table local food movement in our district, to which Myers offers no support whatsoever.
