Hillary Clinton is thanking her "longtime friend" Debbie Wasserman Schultz after the Florida congresswoman's decision to step down as chair of the Democratic National Committee.
Clinton says that Wasserman Schultz will serve as honorary chair of her campaign's 50-state program to help elect Democrats around the country.
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee says she looks forward to campaigning with Wasserman Schultz in Florida "and helping her re-election bid."
Clinton responded after Wasserman Schultz agreed to step down as chair at the end of this week's Democratic National Convention.
The move came after the publication last week of some 19,000 hacked emails, some of which suggested the DNC was favoring Clinton during the primary season.
Their arrogance and entitlement knows no bounds.

The convention is upon us, and after Tim Kaine and emails they had to throw some meaningless bone to Sanders supporters to try to keep us corralled in the veal pen. Aside from some professional pols like Ben Jealous who had to come crawling back with their tails between their legs, I'm doubtful that many Sanders supporters will be fooled. The Clinton's trick bag doesn't have that many tricks in it, and we're tiresomely familiar with all of them by now.

Sure, Brazile is more circumspect than DWS. However, Brazile was campaign chair for Gore when Gore was much better known for being a founding member of the DLC and Bill Clinton's VP than he was for his environmental activism. She also worked on Gephardt's campaign. She has also done very, very well for herself representing the centrist New Democrat Party in mass media.
At this juncture, she does not have to be unbiased, though. Her job now is undivided loyalty to Hillary. Anything that happens now is too little, far too late.

I didn't consider her an effective defender of Democrats back when I used to like them.

I knew Debs was going to be just fine, no matter what. However, bestowing any kind of honor on DWS after she violated the charter of the organization for which she works is not meaningless.
The DNC is supported by donations from all Democrats, who donate on the assumption that the DNC is operating as it is supposed to operate. The cost of primaries is borne by all citizens. Sanders and Clinton were battling each other for most powerful person in the world. And, within a blink after DWS has to resign for corruptly betraying all that, the Democratic nominee honors her?

Being played connotes to me being fooled. We were not fooled. Earlier today, before the announcement of DWS's resignation, I read on this very site posts saying the private sector would reward DWS if she got fired or "voluntarily" stepped down and I don't recall any posts disputing that prophesy. Hillary's campaign is not the private sector, but it's probably not the end of the non-government rewards for DWS, either. This is an incredibly tone deaf move on Hillary's part, though.
While it's predictable that the vice chair should replace the discredited chair, at least temporarily, Brazile was anti-Sanders as well. So, it's a shit sandwich all the way around.
All around, start to finish: Dumb, dumb, dumb. Arrogant, arrogant, arrogant. From the DNC's behavior in this primary to today's events, this debacle should send a loud, clear message to anyone who believes the Democratic Party will be reformed from within by the grass roots in anything under 50 years.

I pretty much got shouted off another blog today for saying I wouldn't vote for Hillary or Trump. Everyone else there intends to vote for her, and their responses to me reminded me of The Great Orange Satan at the time I left there. So the fear of Drumpf and the PR campaign that it's all a vast RW Conspiracy have been pretty effective.
