Sanders says leaked DNC emails don't change his support for Clinton

Bernie Sanders said he will still support Hillary Clinton for president despite leaked emails that showed Democratic Party leaders privately planned to undermine his presidential campaign.

"No, no, no," Sanders said in response to a question on NBC's "Meet the Press" about whether the emails affect his support of the presumptive Democratic nominee. "We are going to do everything we can to protect working families in this country. What a campaign is about is not about Hillary Clinton, it's not about Donald Trump. It's about the people of this country."

Sanders called Clinton, whom he formally endorsed earlier this month, a "far, far superior candidate" to Trump. "We're going to focus on defeating the worst Republican candidate I've seen in a lifetime. We've got to elect Secretary Clinton."

Emails leaked Friday by WikiLeaks reignited talks of party favoritism for Clinton just ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next week. In one May 21 email, DNC press secretary Mark Paustenbach writes to communications director Luis Miranda about planting a narrative to the media that Sanders’s “campaign was a mess.”

Some 'revolution'. I am so damn past this shit. Oh well. Sanders wants us all to vote for Shills now so I guess that's what all of us should do, huh?

He would have run a campaign to do so, not just to pass the baton to his opponent: he would have waded in there, gloves off, and said, as I thought I heard him say, that he was the guy to do it. He wouldn't have pulled any punches. I don't think Sanders is playing some kind of poker game. I just realized he may never have wanted the presidency in the first place, which to me seems a huge violation of our trust.

And if it's not about Him, it's sure not about Her, either.

I feel pwnd by the whole thing. And no, I won't vote Green. That party has not shown it can govern. Really, anybody can have the right ideas: heck, I've got a PhD and pretty much share Jill Stein's platform. I'm filled with all the right ideas, in fact. But I haven't earned anyone's vote by showing I can realistically lead the nation, nor, in my opinion, has she.

might be interested in watching.

(posting it here, that is)

That's assuming that it hasn't been taken down. Both the audio and video of the speech, have been removed from the 'original' website/source.

As most folks know, Schumer is the primary campaign strategist for the Dem Party Leadership. And, an early supporter of FSC.

Anyhoo, pretty much everything that he predicted in a speech immediately following the 2014 Dem Party midterm shellacking, regarding the 2016 election cycle--has played out.

Sorta gives me pause.

to the Clintons and their Democratic Party. That's what they want. Don't use Bernie as your excuse. Not having what it takes to fight against these people like he has for his entire adult life is neither uncommon, I don't have it, nor without plenty of new company. It really looks like there are a whole lot of quitters but it isn't Bernie who caused it.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass or harsh towards you or anyone MH. Anyone withdrawing from politics is not in either our or your interests.

quitting anything. What you have seen is total disgust with Sanders unnecessary kissing of her Heinie's ring long before it was necessary, prudent, and timely. He can go his own way now. He can crawl back to the senate and support the crooked Democratic Party until Hell freezes over. He'll never get the majority of his supporters back since he didn't stand by them the first time.

What we need is someone who actually means what they say and stays true to their message. Someone who won't cave when it gets down to the wire. And that pretty much means Stein. No more 'Democratic' Party for me after multiple decades.

You're right in that the Greens have not been well organized yet, because they haven't had the numbers or the money before, and we don't know if Jill could govern in the unlikely outcome of a win, but with no other existing political party that stands for what we believe, it seems better to work to make the ethical party grow than to just reject it because its candidate now lacks experience. Jill has repeatedly offered to support Bernie, with his greater experience, in spite of his discourtesy toward her, and she seems motivated less by ambition than by the knowledge that somebody has to get change started, and she is willing to try. Personally I don't see anything else that I can do other than support the Greens. It all seems hopeless, Don Quixote tilting at windmills, and I am very angry and sad that Bernie just abandoned his followers, but with the world in its current state it seems wrong to just give up and do nothing. If nothing else, a vote for Stein (if actually counted, which I realize is questionable) is a statement about what I do and do not want our government to be.

Better a good person with reasoning skills and goals of sustainability for the Presidency than one experienced in corruption, disassociated from reality and willing to kill off life on the planet so that a relative few can pick over the rotting corpse of what was our natural life support system.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

Realpolitik thinking here: If Trump & $hill are neck-and-neck come November, vote Trump. He is, IMHO, truely the Lesser Evil and there is no way in hell that Stein can win this year. Barely five% of voters even know who she is. We can still donate to Stein and build her party up for 2020. By then, we'll be so through with Trump and Stein will have gained name recognition. Unlike Bernie, she seems to want to go the distance.

A vote this year for Stein may give Hill (and Bill) the co-presidency, and once they get back in the White House, they'll fix it so they never leave. Even if they connive to get Chelsea to run.
