Christie delivers Clinton 'indictment'

To chants of

"LOCK HER UP!"

CLEVELAND — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Tuesday night laid out what he called his “indictment” against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Christie, a former prosecutor, noted the Justice Department’s recent decision not to bring criminal charges over the former secretary of State's use of a personal email server.

“Since the Justice Department refuses to allow you to render a verdict, let's present the case now, on the facts, against Hillary Clinton,” he said.

“She was America's chief diplomat. Look around at the violence and danger in our world today; every region of the world has been infected with her flawed judgment. But let me be specific, so you can render your verdict.”

Christie’s case against Clinton expanded from the email case to foreign policy and her record as President Obama’s secretary of State.

He mentioned the Iran nuclear deal, the 276 kidnapped schoolgirls in Nigeria, her views on Libya, Syria and the lifting restrictions with Cuba.

Huh - they don't seem impressed that she's the most qualified-est candidate EVAH.

Hillary Clinton on Tuesday hit back at Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) after he delivered a fierce speech at the Republican National Convention criticizing her judgment and character.

“If you think Chris Christie can lecture anyone on ethics, we have a bridge to sell you,” Clinton tweeted in response, a reference to the governor's "Bridgegate" scandal.

Clinton’s tweet included a link to a 2015 New York Times article explaining the events surrounding the scandal. Christie has repeatedly taken fire for his role in a September 2013 decision to close lanes along the crowded George Washington Bridge, with critics claiming it was done to punish a political opponent.

Damn I hate to agree

with the Repugs but he does have a point. Imo being unethical and closing a bridge and being a criminal responsible for an untold amount of deaths among other things not quite the same. although i'm sure he would be no different if he were SOS or some other high ranking official.

How could any thinking person disagree

with this statement made by Governor Christi:

"We didn't disqualify Hillary Clinton from becoming President, the facts of her life and career did!"

Yet MSM is still more 'concerned' with 50 words from Melania Trump than all of the Clinton's scandals without end. Disgraceful

The USA needs a multiparty system, just like most European nations have. The current two-party system is not remotely fair. Real democracy means more than a false choice between neoliberal and neoconservative.

caused by the bridge blocking, however - I think there may have been an inadvertent death... I remember something shocking but can't remember the details. Christie deserves censure for what he did. But TRUE, he has in no way orchestrated what she has.

Well, he's probably jealous that she's more corrupt than he is, but that's certainly not from want of his trying.

In any event, going by my rather superficial reading Wall St. et al would rather have President Hillary than him, although he was at one time on their top 3 list of dirty-enough-to-work-for-them in both senses, later replaced by Rubio, I believe? But according to what little I've read, Bush and Hillary were the top corporate picks, although I gather that they'd be OK with (surprise, surprise, surprise - hah!) ready-to-parachute-in-rather-than-Bernie Biden. Otherwise, probably anyone but Bernie, the unmentionable oligarchical nightmare.

But it seems Christie feels Hillary's going down (may he be right, just for once) and can be replaced as corporate management so I'd like lots of butter on my popcorn, please.

I am here tonight not only as the Governor of New Jersey, but also as Donald Trump's friend for the last fourteen years. We are about to be led by not only a strong leader but by a caring, genuine and decent person. I am proud to say that the voice of the people of our nation is being heard in this hall and those voices want Donald Trump to be the next President of the United States.

As for "style," his subsequent "case" against The Mad Bomber featured no defense counsel, no rules of evidence, no judge. Just a snarling demagogue of a prosecutor, and a bloodthirsty, brainless mob. That's how people got—get—lynched.

Nothing at all here to celebrate.

One may appreciate good oratory...

without applauding with the oration.

Rhetorically, the speech was well written, had a solid theme, made good use of repetition, and allowed for frequent audience participation, which it got in droves.

The delivery was actually a bit understated, which made it more effective. The pacing was smooth and Christie knew when to pause for maximum effect.

Let's face it, whether you like the speaker or not, the quality of the speech was head and shoulders above most of the stilted, droning, soporifics you usually get at these things.

Art for art's sake, you know?

In Iran, she led the negotiations that brought about the worst nuclear deal in history.

Let me be clear: America and the world are measurably less safe and less respected because of the Iran deal Hillary helped cut. Period. After she launched those negotiations, she became the biggest cheerleader for it at the end. A deal that will lead to a nuclear Iran, an Israel that will be less safe and secure, and a much more dangerous Middle East.

In Russia, she went to the Kremlin on her very first visit and gave them the symbolic reset button. In Cuba, Hillary Clinton supported concessions to the Castro brothers and got almost nothing in return for ending the embargo.

Chesimard murdered a New Jersey State Trooper in cold blood, fled to Cuba, and lives there to this very day. How do you live with your own conscience, when you reward a domestic terrorist with continued safety, and betray the family of a fallen police officer waiting for decades for justice for his murder?

I appreciate that someone else took the time to watch that asshole and report back here. Cuz I sure wasn't turning it on. There's nothing wrong with the 360-approach to critiquing it. Although I should add, IIRC, the Third Reich had plenty of good orators too. Nothing wrong with noting it, long as you're not actually taking whatever they said seriously. And I'm not seeing that here by Not_Henry, at least. Gah, you have way more intestinal fortitude than I have on that, good sir...

that he'd gone after her. Wanted to know if he'd given his horn a good toot. I think he did ok. Not a fan of his by any means, but I think her corruption really should get more prime time attention. For THAT reason, I think it was a decent speech.

I for one am tired that everything is seen for its entertainment or aesthetics value. As much as it's an art to be a good comedian, corporate media's entertainment by its comedians, for example, is in the end distraction, even if it's eye-opening in its content. So, for example, I can't stand the comedians for their "distraction" value (as in, ok, folks, it's all a joke and so funny, relax), but value their "content value" as revealing facts for what they are and not for what they are sold for.

It's the content that matters to me, not the way it was presented, as artfully or aesthetically it might have been.

Ok, I am not having my best day. The smooth talk gets on my nerves, even here on C99p. Sorry I should shut down my laptop now.

As I was watching (which I said I wasn't going to do), I was thinking how many of us knew what a stupid thing she did when we found out the server, yet her loyal supporters immediately called it a nothing burger.

Also, we were told to shut up about it because we'd be giving republicans ideas to use against Hillary. OMG, that was so funny. Like the Republicans didn't already have that ammo ready to go at her.

Christie’s speech was logically incoherent. Even if you buy his damning interpretation of Clinton’s foreign policy errors, it doesn't make sense to discuss them as matters of criminal malfeasance. Emotionally, though, that’s in keeping with how Clinton’s bitterest foes talk about her: as a person of absolute corruption, who, through some sort of occult trick, moves through the world with intolerable impunity. As many people pointed out on Twitter, the way that Christie punctuated his inquisitorial brief with the crowd’s cries of “Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!” made him sound less like a contemporary politician than a magistrate condemning a witch.

I love how the author invokes the history of the witch trials, which implies that Hillary is innocent and being unjustly persecuted simply because of her gender. And leave it to establishment "progressives" to label massive blunders that have resulted in the deaths tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of innocent people as "foreign policy errors." When you consider Iraq, Libya, Syria, and every State Department intervention in Latin America in their totality, the catastrophic damage and loss of human life caused or facilitated by Hillary Clinton is staggering. If that's not criminal, I don't know what is.

Yes, Christie's focus was off in a number of areas, particularly with regard to the Obama administration's policy toward Cuba and Iran, but that doesn't invalidate the conclusion, where there is consensus among most of us on the Left AND the Right: Hillary is a disaster when it comes to foreign policy and she blatantly lied to the FBI (and the American people) about her email server.
