CHELSEA gets a speaking spot prime time w/ her mother?!
Sanders gets primetime speaking slot at Democratic National Convention
In a move meant to portray party unity, Sanders is scheduled to speak on Monday alongside First Lady Michelle Obama and Astrid Silva, a prominent immigration reform activist. The theme of that night is "United Together."
Snip
Sanders' slot on Monday is the latest signal that Democratic convention organizers, working with the Clinton campaign, have put out to fight any perception of a divided party — as well as to bring disappointed Sanders supporters into the fold after a long primary. The announcement of Sanders speech on Monday comes days after the Vermont senator endorsed Clinton at a joint event.
yadda, yadda, yadda (Bill to speak Tues, Obama & Biden to speak Weds)
On Thursday Clinton herself will deliver a speech alongside Chelsea Clinton. The former secretary of state will focus on "her vision for our country — her belief that we are stronger together and that America is at its best when we work together to solve our problems." The title for that night is "Stronger Together."
Is Chelsea the only Millennial she knows or something?

Tuesday: A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families
Am I alone seeing the irony there? As if Clinton is not responsible at all for current state of death. Because lifetime fighting for children and families!

I was going to watch both conventions hoping for the
unexpected, but I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the nausea. I may have to just read about it after the fact.

fear Trump, fear Trump, fear Trump....
...is going to get old really quick. i've debated on watching but it is all going to be a carefully crafted show to get you to vote for Clinton. i'll have none of it. if there any headlines to come out of the convention i'll read about it in the news. at most i'll probably watch Sanders but glorifying Clinton again in a speech may get me disheartened all over again.
as for the Republican convention, i saw my partner had printed out Republican bingo cards from the Stephen Colbert Late Show. things to look for are 'Rocker you thought was dead', 'stone-faced Christie', 'praise for Putin/Sadam Hussein' and 'some guy who may or may not be from Duck Dynasty'. even so, i seriously doubt i'll watch an even more mind numbing episode of our current state of politics. again, if there's news to be made i'll read about it.

This fits with something else I read somewhere recently, that the upper 10% or so of both major parties are either professional politicians, or degreed professionals of some sort. OF COURSE, they've made it too expensive for the commoners to easily attend. It's like with the Affordable Care Act. We should all be more skeptical and on our guard when wealthy lawyers tell us that something will be "affordable".
This also fits observations of this primary season, where there are an awful lot of ostensible grownups among the establishment Dems that really seem incensed that anyone might decide to question their judgment. -And that really seem to think they have an unlimited license to insult and slander the little people.
-Or am I the only one here that has ever had a degreed professional try to talk down to me, or insult me, or rudely try to shut me up, on a subject where I know far more than they do?
I guess so. Probably just me. The UMC always displays impeccable manners, and we should never question them.

The city allowed TRIPLING of the room rates for the convention
...and this includes for the delegates. I find that Un-American.
And maybe this is a good place to plunk this tidbit down: The Delegate Selection Plan in my state says the party will assist low to moderate income folks in raising funds to attend the Nat'l convention. When I inquired about how they help when I submitted my application, I was laughed out of the office. The 'assistance' apparently is exclusively that mention in the plan that they could help.
Also, diversity and all, the venue for the state convention was impossible for anyone with stamina issues because the venue was gynormous (way too big for our needs). Most active folks walked 5-7 miles per day in there (so many wear tracking devices these days).

Hillary's probably trying to boost her own numbers.
WaPo had an article with this chart yesterday. Chelsea is viewed the most favorably out of all the major speakers, probably because she's been completely out of the public eye and not overtly political in her activities. It's no coincidence that Hillary plans to play up the "mother" angle, while simultaneously standing next to the one Clinton that America doesn't hate (yet). It comes off as such a cynical, calculated move to anyone with a functioning brain, but the partisan horde of Hillary supporters will probably eat it up.
Maybe they'll show Chelsea's
Maybe they'll show Chelsea's interview with that insurance peddling cartoon gecko ?

The Lay of the Last Clinton
Breathes there the maid, with soul so dead,
Who never to herself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne'er within her burn'd,
As home her footsteps she hath turn'd,
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark her well;
For her no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though her titles, proud her name,
Boundless her wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence she sprung,
Unwept, unhonour'd, and unsung.

So Bernie speaks on Monday?
By the end of the week, anything Bernie said will be buried under tons of Party verbiage tearing apart his agenda. He will get no rebuttal.

I won't vote for her, any more than I'll ever vote for her crooked mother.
Hillary don't drag your daughter into it.
From what I have seen, Chelsea is horrible and would be horrible in politics. She utterly fell on her face when she tried to attack Bernie on health care in one of thee most distorted attacks of the political season. I am not sure Chelsea expected the pushback from her dishonest attack. If the Clintons have some expectations about some political career for their daughter, best they give it up and let Chelsea live in the life she picks. But if Chelsea chooses politics as in seeking political office, then best of luck as she will need it.
I saw today on Twitter that
HRCC spoke at NetRoots Nation this year. Last year Sanders, Warren and O'Malley went. HRC couldn't make it to the "progressive" convention in 2015.
Go nepotism!
Howdy, MsGrin! Thanks for the smile this morning. I share your wry observation.
Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if Chelsea simply stands at the rear and maintains an adoring gaze on her Mommy. She's family after all. But something tells me that is not what is going to go down.

I'll wait for the re-telling...
I was just surprised - am not actually at all interested.
