Why I've Chosen to Demexit

Initially, I did not support the idea of de-registering from the Democratic Party, but after a great deal of thought, research and soul-searching, I changed my mind. Let me tell you why, in my latest video on YouTube:

I'm gonna de-register after the FL primaries.
There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.. This...is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.--John Adams
i don't know if exiting the Democratic party...
...before the convention will have affect anything concerning Sanders and his delegates. that uncertainty makes me think i should wait until the officially declared Demexit day. i know a lot of people were pissed off after the Sanders endorsement and wanted to make an immediate statement but i think i'm going to hold off. does anyone really think that exiting now will make a more persuasive argument against Clinton leading into the convention? that's not a rhetorical question. i'm really wondering if people think it will make any impact.
I don't know - it might scare the DNC a little, or it might not
It might not matter at all. I'd love for them to actually sit and think about whether moving forward with Hillary is their best option - but I suspect no matter what happens, they will think it is.
I don't know that waiting or not waiting matters all that much in the end. I think this is a longer game.
I was going to wait until the 29th, but had to renew my license, and just couldn't resist changing it then since it was part of the renewal form in my state.
I think that exiting now
or waiting are both persuasive, and show the democratic establishment that many of us are done with their third-way sellout to corporate America. It will take a lot of people to exit to scare them in any real way, and in the end, I don't know if they really care, especially at the top where its about greed and power, not really politics. I was never really a Democrat anyway, just registered as one to be able to vote in the primaries, so it felt good to tell them good-bye. I voted for Obama the first time, and then was one of the 8,000 or so votes for Jill Stein in Arizona in 2012. I felt slimy being associated in any way with what the democratic party has become.
Honestly, re-registering as Green felt pretty good. It will take real work, though, to make a an impact.
Will do it the week of July 25th
Need to renew my license that week, so it is gonna happen, but can't promise it will be on July 29th exactly.

Wish I could
but we have an August primary, her in Florida. Gotta stay registered Dem long enough to vote for Grayson. After that, DemExit!
I want to be clear
Timing is not my issue. I said that in the video.

Why I've chosen to Demexit
Because I've been a Green since 1992 and because I only registered Dem to vote for Sanders?
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.
You win!

Thanks for the refresher
I remembered the sort of back door way in which the Supreme Court affirmed corporate personhood in that 1886, but forgot a lot of the details (such as how many people involved in the case themselves had ties to the railroads).
You are so right. What was a drip, drip, drip in the nineteenth century has turned into a uncontrollable corporate tsunami in our present day. Sanders deserves gratitude for running, but his apparent calculation that real change can occur within this dismally corrupt system is not my calculation, not yours, and it looks like the conclusion of many others as well. Thanks again!
Thanks Steven D for a thoughtful video presentation
I reregistered as a Green Party member today. I went to the on-line site of my County Registrar of Voters, completed their form (after a couple of mistakes) but got it done: I am now a happy Green Party member.
Going Green is a big deal for me - I have been a Democrat for more than 40 years. You see, I was previously a member of the Peace and Freedom Party, which I quit to join the Democratic Party as a volunteer to work for George McGovern's campaign for President. In retrospect, the world would have been much better off had we elected George McGovern rather than Richard Nixon, but we didn't, and catastrophe happened. Now, I feel a similar sense of foreboding about electing Hillary Clinton, she seems like a Democratic version of Richard Nixon: secretive and scheming, and all too ready to use our military might.

My very first vote was for McGovern
I will #DemExit on the 29th. It will only make a difference if we also publicize our state recorder's numbers. MSM won't report it
Letters to the editor might help, parades would be better
Outside the box: would there be a chance somebody could create an event which could get into the news, despite their censorship and our short planning timeframe, about an enormous re-registration surge from the Democratic Party to the Green Party?
