I just caught myself agreeing with Paul Ryan. Keep your eyes out for 4 guys on horses...

Because I am pretty sure that is one of the final signs of the impending apocalypse.

Seriously though, wtf kind of world are we living in where Progressives actually have to make allies out of asshole republicans?

Republicans will hold hearings to learn more about the FBI's decision to not recommend criminal charges for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Tuesday night.

"People have been convicted for far less," Ryan said during an interview with Megyn Kelly on Fox News's "The Kelly File," saying that he thought FBI Director James Comey "was going to recommend prosecution" based on the FBI director's opening remarks in a press conference Tuesday.

Ryan said the FBI's decision not to recommend charges "underscores the belief that the Clintons live above the law."

Ryan said the FBI should release its findings regarding the Clinton email investigation.

He also called for the director of National Intelligence to "block" Clinton from accessing classified information as a presidential candidate, given her handling of government secrets on her private email server.

"I don't think she should get classified information," Ryan said.

Up is down, left is right and dark is now light.

But one thing will always remain consistent, Clinton Corruption...

Nah, I am too cantankerous for that. Cracked cups all around!

While at Honda dealer having an airbag replaced for the THIRD time ( CRV is 12 years old, they just found out the passenger side needed to be replaced now???) -I was listening to CNN ( don't have cable or dish where I live) and was almost pinching myself - I was LISTENING to him, relieved to hear Comey would be questioned tomorrow. Listening to CNN and Paul Ryan.

The world has definitely turned a different direction on its axis now - all bets are off.

So many of the MSM are calling this "fatal" - politically, comments are scathing.

Compelled to keep saying - we have to let the DNC know we are NOT voting for her. Never. Nada. No Way. Call your Member of Congress, Senator, Gov. "Super Delegate" - keep calling, and calling and calling.

Elizabeth Warren
Ed Markey
Rep Neal ( dem, 2013, running this time.)

Gave each office my name, location in MA, and said WILL NOT VOTE FOR CLINTON. Yesterday was "my last straw/red line" - AND I will not vote for Warren, Markey, or Neal if they support Clinton at the Convention.

By the time I got to Rep. Neal's office, he's new, asked nice young boy ( really young!) answering if I was the "first" caller with this message - he tried not to laugh, but couldn't - and said "no Maam" ( said he was young!)

OK - is everyone making a phone call to their Dem Senators, Reps? Super Delegates

I'm starting on the Dem Super Delegates from MA now.

Are we all in this together?????

but I will make some phone calls also. The smarmy letters I get back usually keep me angry for most of the day. Maybe with a phone call, I can get over their lack of interest in what I have to say faster.

I have been listening to and reading "RW" media for a bit now. Mostly becasue they are often the only source for the news I am looking for. I do find it easier to sift through their bias than it is to wade through the "LW" media bias. Finding that we are on the same side of the fence on some things is a bit unnerving though.

I am holding on to my 1988 Chevy as they may recall it any day now. = )

Either way, this election cycle has made me feel like a bit of a tool and a fool for mocking those that have been screaming about how corrupt and owned our system was for decades.

Sure, I always suspected that some corruption existed, it always will in any human endeavor, but for it to be this prevalent, this high and now this open?

Shock and dismay don't even begin to describe the turmoil of emotions that I am feeling...

I wonder if those that lead the Revolt against England felt similar in the buildup to that fateful day when they finally decided to declare their independence and take on the most powerful force in the known world at the time.

It really does astound me. I readily admit that I am far from the sharpest knife in the proverbial drawer, but are most Americans really this ignorant?

I don't think it's that I am "Smarter" than the average voter, I am just a lot less lazy.

I am rapidly getting burned out on the, "Well, they are so busy they don't all have time to learn the stuff that we learn."

To which I reply, "Bullshit.... Watch one less reality show a damn week on the TV."

It really doesn't take much more than an hour or so a week to learn what is going on in the politics in our country, at least on key issues.

It's not just a citizens right to vote, it's also his/her OBLIGATION to learn what the hell is going on. Anything else is just piss poor stewardship of our nation, nothing less.

I am not saying they all have to be policy wonks, but is it really too much to ask of our fellow citizens to actually take some damned interest in things that effect ALL of our lives and to open their eyes every once in a while?

Laziness of the citizen is just as much to blame as the corruption of our politicians for things getting to this state.

If we were not so damned lazy and complacent as a people the Nation would not be in the shambles it currently is.

I am no longer coddling them, from now on when someone tells me, "I can't be bothered to...." I am going to let them know why they are then at least indirectly responsible for the shit that they are always complaining about.

I am so frustrated with this whole situation I am literally looking at selling my house and jumping ship to Ecuador or Panama...

Sure, those countries have their problems, but at least I don't have to watch MY country being destroyed around me by a mix of greed and apathy....

It's gotta be easier to take from a distance.

I have a theory about all this. I feel that as our problems get worse and pile up further, its essentially harder for people to take the strain of learning about it. I'm not being silly when I say that at all.

'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member

He can state with certainty that Clinton executed bad judgement and broke laws as SOS and that she lied very many times to the nation about that. What would her response be in a debate? How does she survive this? It is a large amplifier for all of the past lies and unethical if not criminal behavior. She also loses the argument that he would not have
good judgement in issues of state. He can say anything that he wants about this in the debate, as in "why should the American public trust you, a proven liar?"

The action of the Democratic Party to all of these Hillary bad behaviors and endless prevarications is disturbing, to say the least. Just like Alphalop I have been watching conservative interviews and find myself nodding yes to politicians that I would normally dismiss out of hand. Even worse, I see their point when they criticize Democrats for being corrupt and blind. Wow, this is just disturbing as hell. If the party is corrupt then it's impossible to objectively give it loyalty, because in the end you are just going to be part of the big lie. These are strange times, and I'd really like to encourage Bernie to get together with Jill Stein and form a serious third party. The Democratic Party, it seems to me, has become radioactive,
way too dangerous to try to save it.

Just as a side note, I live in the PRM, People's Republic of Massachusetts and I see Trump bumper sticker popping
up everywhere and yard signs that are not yard signs but yard billboards. I haven't yet seen any Hillary signs. The pollsters are reporting that Trump supporters are far more motivated. I suspect that the next four months are going to be filled with surprises on a continuing basis. I would not be surprised that the FBI decision on Hillary causes most of the Republicans to fall in line for Trump. The anger is palpable, and the text of Comey's decision is, in fact, an indictment of Clinton.

when Chris Christie had the whole crisis on the bridge, where his staff were caught deliberately causing a traffic jam, probably to punish an opponent? (Very short description.)

Well, right after that happened a lot of other scandals broke. He'd been accused of blatantly shutting out political opponents when it came to post-Hurricane aid, and the extent to which he'd done made it very obvious. The thing is, he'd been guilty of that for years and none of it stuck, because his poll numbers were high. When your popular, you can get caught with your hand in the cookie jar, and people will assume you were closing the lid.

So basically as soon bridgegate came up, people started coming out of the woodwork. In many cases, they had already accused him of all sorts of stuff in public and nobody would cover it in the press, and nobody would pursue any sort of criminal issue. Then his popularity took a hit, and bam....

I'm not necessarily expecting that to happen here, because too many people need Hillary Clinton to win. I think that it literally is like that.

Deals have already been made, deals about all kinds of things. I think that most intelligent people don't want the pro-free trade Trump to win. There are lots of reasons to hate him, but really big money would have reason to be more anti-Trump than pro Hillary. There is just no way they would let this thing get out of the gate.

I'm not expecting the press to cover this well.

...they'll either appear now or they won't.

I have a hard time believing this is yet over - might be, but we can smell so much just one water drop beneath the surface. Does Wikileaks have anything at all? Were they waiting until the FBI made its determination so that it could be embarrassed? So hard to know.

I think the only people convinced by this of Hillary's innocence are those who already were in the tank for her. All others who have paid minimal attention are asking, 'wtf?'

...the "here" in the comment means RS and not c99p:

Likely an unpopular position here, but maybe someone should look into the end of Equality Under The Law in the US "Justice" system. I'm certain that is not what Ryan has in mind here...if he did he would have called for warcrimes charges against BushCo, financial crimes charges against the Banksters, lying to Congress charges against James Clapper, torture charges against the CIA, and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

Quite rightly many are calling this a political move and something to do instead of governing. But I have a strong feeling here that if the situation were reversed the Very Serious Beltway NeoLiberal Democratic Elite would be doing pretty much the same thing. After all, they didn't raise a stink about warcrimes charges against BushCo, financial crimes charges against the Banksters, lying to Congress charges against James Clapper, torture charges against the CIA, and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

Both wings of the Oligarchy Party protect the Powerful and just take superficial pot shots at each other for fun and distraction.

happen. Most people are not paying the slightest bit of attention to any of this, and won't until after Labor Day.

By that time - if they press ahead on this - all the average voter will hear is "Republicans blah blah Ryan blah blah Clinton email blah blah investigation" and will conclude it's just another witch hunt á là Benghazi, and will tune it right out.

I feel it blunts the effects of the turd Comey dropped into HRH's punch bowl. If the Republicans were smart, they'd have lain low and allowed the focus to stay on the turd. With the drip, drip, drip we've seen this season, eventually the turd would have begun dividing and multiplying and no one would be able to look away.

Now the focus will shift to yet another House investigation - easily dismissed by most.
