Bill Clinton just made a lot of trouble for Loretta Lynch: Republicans now calling on attorney general to step down after meeting on private jet

As if anymore fuel needed to be added to the conservative fire that the Obama administration is simply unable to conduct an impartial investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of private servers and emails while secretary of state, her husband decided to hold an impromptu meeting with the chief prosecutor in the investigation this week.

On Monday, Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch had what has been described as a chance meeting at the Phoenix Airport, where the former president allegedly held back his private jet on the tarmac to wait to board Lynch’s government plane to hold a 30-minute meeting that was described by Lynch as “primarily social.” More from CBS News:

An aide to Bill Clinton confirmed to CBS News that the meeting wasn’t planned in advance: President Clinton saw the attorney general on the tarmac and wanted to say hello, so he boarded her plane to talk.

*
And of course, Republicans in Congress were quick to jump on news of the meeting to again pressure Lynch to appoint a special counsel to investigate the use of email and private serves at the State Department during Clinton’s tenure.

I detest Bill Clinton. I have for decades since he showed what a totally moral bankrupt he was by making his political bones on the backs of the poor, women, and minorities. He is pure scum. And like water sinking to its own level, he found a woman who was as self-serving, unethical, devoid of integrity, and crooked as he is.

I think what she did was give the appearance of impropriety and an explanation is needed.

I think the former president is equally as guilty of the above. He owes us an explanation.

That said: This oughta be good!

nobody can be prosecuted.

The Clintons are now, literally, a danger to this nation. They have to be stopped before that convention. That woman cannot be handed the goddamn nomination. They did this on purpose to scuttle a prosecution. William Jefferson Clinton and Loretta Lynch need to be HELD TO ACCOUNT NOW for this obviously planned impropriety and the Republicans need to SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. They know exactly what happened here.

surely they can. The question would be "Would they?" How many deputies are there and who are they? It's a damn good question and gives me something to research. Because I have been just absolutely livid about this today, any time I see it or think about it.

Dammit, this has just been made way more political than criminal and it was done ON PURPOSE.

I have a Republican congressman in my district (thanks, gerrymandering from hell!). I've never as much as said hello to him. I think I may have to remedy that situation.

This is only a first draft. Damn, I'm pissed....

"Dear Congressman DeSantis, you don't know me yet, but you and I need to have a little talk about those Clinton people. If you think that visit by the former President onto the airliner of the Attorney General of the United States was anything other than an obnoxious, obvious trap that allows him to buy more time for his criminal wife so she can steal win the Presidency and be protected unless you impeach her over that damnable, money-laundering Foundation and that state-secret-revealing Private Email Server of theirs, then you are a fool and an idiot and have no business in any vocation that involves our government. This country has no more time, money or business letting these two people anywhere near it, let alone more time to waste on another "impeachment" dog and pony show. We have work to do. Those people are grifters and they mean to fuck up this country but good. Stop helping them, or I'll be forced to believe you want to fuck it up too...."

AG Lynch would have to recuse herself and appoint one of her underlings to handle the prosecution. Don't know if that would be better than a special prosecutor as far as how long until indictment (we need her indicted before the convention, not after!), but maybe your congressman would know.

He might respond to you - Hillary's bound to be not his favorite person.

IMO, this is precisely WHY Clinton did what he did--to force the GOP to insist on a Special Prosecutor. That buys the Clintons time and allows her on the general election ballot.

No. Just NO. Loretta Lynch needs to do her job, RIGHT NOW.

I don't really believe that Lynch was an active participant in this. I think Clinton ambushed her knowing full well what the fallout would be. If there is any transfer in overseeing the prosecution of this case, be it another DOJ prosecutor or a special one, Hillary will have already been sworn in long before they complete their initial investigation.

What amazes me is how easily Clinton obtained access to the AG's plane? You would think her security detail would have prevented him from ever walking up those stairs. Makes you think someone might have let it happen on purpose.

Interesting choice of words, there. If she was cooperating, wouldn't she be doing her job? Otherwise, "there's no hope she'll do her job" implies that she was in cahoots with him. What did I miss?

that he see her in private. Which she knew perfectly well would look shady and she should have told him no.

So depends on what you think her job is. If her job is to help Hill get elected President, then she did her job. If her job is to prosecute wrongdoers, then she did not, nor does it look like she is going to do that job that we'd like to think our tax dollars pay for.

I could be too cynical. I guess we'll see.

All of that during the primaries and all contrary to election laws in (most? all?) states about campaigning at polling places...?

And Moronic Media said almost nothing about it, or even talked about how outraged some of us were at such a cheap stunt or how illegal it is...?

Good little propaganda stenographers that Moronic Media's "journalists" and "reporters" are, they've faithfully quoted what the brief Bill-Lorretta meeting was all about, that Bill initiated the meeting (HRC's top surrogate)..., and left it at that.

Had that been Bernie waiting for Lynch and initiating a chat with the sitting AG on a tarmac about grandchildren, golf, whatever other nonsense, we'd be hearing about this unethical (if not illegal) meeting from now until after the DNC convention - daily, several times a day, plus manufactured poutrage.

The impropriety of such a meeting when Bill's wife is under suspicion regarding her emails and the internet server in their home, as well as Bill being under suspicion for money laundering via the Clinton Foundation cannot be swept under the carpet (thanks to their personal internet server to which both had access).

Faugh!!!

The impropriety while protesting the innocence thereof stinks like a rotting corpse on a hot day.

And reading everything I can about it today.

And this just popped into my mind: Is it at all possible ... that Lynch did this specifically in order to have to recuse herself?

Is it possible that she knows (or at least strongly suspects) Comey will recommend an indictment -- and is under such pressure not to indict -- that she would rather save her reputation by 'tarnishing' it now? If that makes sense?

I don't know, none of it makes sense so I'm just thinking out loud here.

... about how much evidence they have so the Clintons can come up with an acceptable lie people will believe about the evidence and then be declared innocent of violating US law and innocent of the money laundering going on through the Clinton Foundation..., and, of course, gullible people who favor HRC will gobble this up and vote for her anyway.

There are all sorts of possibilities, but it reeks of Bill getting info from Lynch, bribery money changing hands, password being given to Lynch (and/or her hubby, given he was with her, but I don't know what role he plays in her public life)..., and a whole host of other possibilities, none of them good, none of them as innocent as the public account of the exchange that we have heard so far.

almost guarantees Lynch appointing a special prosecutor, thus delaying an indictment before the convention.

Let's face it, Bill Clinton knows how to do meetings on the down low. If the meeting was to exchange info, it could so easily have been done privately. But to make it so public and obvious? and assuming the worst: which is likely. BUT, given the "server" concern, and that this involved the cooperation of a former U.S. President: and given that the AG and her husband, as well as Secret Service, who could also be FBI, there is some reason to believe that maybe, whisper of a dream, . . . WJC got served. Someone in another post on a news article about this suggested that with VIPs who are difficult to track down, and public figures and all, the courtesy of a private serve gives them a chance to respond privately and make arrangements. I don't know how much credence to give this, but I do recall that when the Benghazi hearings revealed that she had a private server (which could have become known sooner) on Jan. 23 2013, she resigned on Feb. 1st: Comey was appointed for ten years and was sworn in the following sept. along with the OIG.

Someone at K4S made the very interesting point yesterday that this act by Clinton was deliberately done to provoke a call for a special prosecutor. That will further delay the proceedings. A new prosecutor would have to be selected, appointed, get up to speed with the investigation, perhaps re-do this or that, etc. etc. Everyone's gone in August, so things get rolling in September, when more dust gets thrown up and the election season hits high pitch. Suddenly the FBI will be pressured not to do anything too close to Election Day, and then...we're past the election.

So it's quite possible this was a ploy to muck up the works and stretch things out. And I would not discount the possibility that the establishment Republicans know what their role is to play in this kabuki theater, and happily comply.

There is no better way to ensure this can gets kicked down the road to after the election. Obama doesn't have to step in saving face with the Clintons and Lynch gets to avoid a career limiting decision. Coney is left hanging from the hook. His recommendation to prosecute is instantly deemed political. I suspect he was seen as leaning towards prosecution and had to be short circuited. Of course now we get to see a second Clinton impeached but not until they do all the damage their cold little hearts and minds can dream up. Whatever happens serves both parties quite well.

Look at Holder being put in charge of the DOJ after the biggest economic crash since GS was repealed.
Holder came from a law firm that defends the banks, and since so many people knew that they committed fraud, who would be the best person to put in charge of investigating them if Obama wanted to make sure that no one was prosecuted?
They paid billions in fines, but those billions didn't come close to the profits they made.
And what the hell does 'to big to jail' even mean?
Both Bush president's put people in prison.
Over a thousand went to prison during the S&L scandal.
Bush had friends at Enron and even they went to prison.
Holder and Obama didn't even bother to charge anymore from the banks.
And not one person stepped in when millions of people were being thrown out of their houses by the crooked robo MERS.
The hamp program was a failure because while one part of the bank were working with people, the other part was working on foreclosing them anyway.
And a lot of the money wasn't even used.
It was another Obama scam.
How many campaign promises did he even keep?
From not filibustering the FISA vote, to not doing stupid stuff.
I'd say that Libya was stupid stuff.

I suppose this conclusion based on these observations of the history of the past nearly eight years could easily be dismissed as CT. At least until considering how perfectly each of these events flowed together and met the interests of the elites in both parties. Obama couldn't have lost every important battle (and even the presumed important ones like the ACA are a bag of shit oozing out of the bottom of the bag) while winning only the social ones without actually never intending to make a fix anything. It's been too perfect to have just happened. It's on a level with the Globe Trotters vs the Washington Generals. I'd be glad to entertain an alternate explanation but I don't think there is one.

The democrats said that they let the republicans water it down in order for them to vote for it, but knowing damned well that they weren't going to. And it passed without one single republican voting for it, but they let the watered down parts stay in. Then they gave it to Baucus knowing that Liz Fowler from WellPoint was on his staff and helped write it. And after it passed where did she go? Back to WellPoint, just like Holder went back to his law firm that held his job open for him for 6 years. And he has a very nice corner office as a reward. Obama didn't do a damned thing on the ACA in congress while it was being debated. But he was working with the insurance and pharmaceutical companies during the same time making sure that they got everything they wanted in the bill.
No importing drugs from Canada and no limits on not raising premiums.
So many people are paying more for health insurance then they are for their mortgages. And they can't use it because they first have to make their $6-10,000 dollar deductibles.
The only time he leaned on congress was when he leaned on the people who were holding out. What did Lincoln get in return for her vote?
Imagine if he had worked as hard on the ACA as he has for the TPP?
Good lord red, what a wasted 7 years he's spent on the people in this country.
But his friends in the defense industries are having a banner decade.
I've read reports that say they have made over $100 billion in profits since he took office.
And how many innocent civilians has he killed with his drones? In countries that we aren't at war with. And congress sits on their asses and don't do anything to rein him in.
He has made an agreement with Putin to not kill his moderate rebels that are helping him overthrow Assad. I have no idea why Putin would agree with that because he's supposed to be protecting Assad.
And especially because Obama and NATO are surrounding Russia trying to goad him into war.
That just makes no fucking sense. Don't bomb my rebels while I'm trying to push you into a war.
If this is how our leaders play their fucking game of thrones, I have no idea what the end goals are.
Does anyone else?

Why did they make it so public? Did Bill just actually see her plane on the tarmac or did he know that she was coming? Has anyone asked her why she was even there?
I'm so disgusted with this administration.
Obama's war on whistle blowers when those people followed the rules, yet were prosecuted anyway.
Except for Petrayous who got off by paying a $100 thousand dollar fine but got to keep both his rank and pension, while John K went to prison and Drake was put through hell.
Look at how many anonymous people leak classified information, yet as long as it benefits the government propaganda machine, no one is prosecuted for them.
Most transparent administration ever, my ass again.

until Obama brought it up at a speech somewhere. Apparently, it is an inside joke among ambitious black people and is not to be indulged in by white folks. I understand this.

In my group of acquaintances that are melatonin challenged, "That's might white of you" is an insult. Persons of color would probably not understand the nuances and would likely misuse the phrase.

I don't think Hillary was being intentionally racist here. She is more like your aunt at the family gathering who is trying to be 'cool' and is failing miserably at it.

between being cunning and/or sly and being intelligent. Simply judging Obama's almost 8 years in office, I've yet to see any real strong evidence he's actually a 'Constitutional Scholar' and the . Or has even read the thing beginning to end.

As for the Clintons, I KNOW they aren't all that bright. They've spent their entire political careers denying doing things that only a moron would do if he/she wanted a career in politics. But this is where being sly and crafty prevails, and this is why the Clintons get away with being the most corrupt politicians in this country.

(Trump isn't a politician. He's a fool that let his mouth write a check that his ass can't cash. And now he's stuck.)

Just wondering if they were 'caught' after the meeting, or did they 'announce' the meeting. I daresay that would tell a lot. The optics for this from Lynch's point of view are incredibly, breathtakingly bad. What was she thinking? Unless she was thinking that she couldn't say no to a man who might be her new boss, or co-boss, and she wants to be able to have lunch in Washington again post election. The optics just couldn't be worse.

From his point of view, of course optics and the 'appearance of impropriety' (which, we were taught in ethics class, is just as bad as impropriety itself) have never been concerns of either of the Clintons. They both disgust me.

I still maintain, and have felt all along (especially moreso after those times Hillary proclaimed she WOULD be the nominee)that Fate is preparing the stage for a Grand Catastrophe, a la Greek Drama, where the central character is done in by his or her fatal flaw. My friends, we are living in 'interesting times,' as the old Chinese curse goes...

So far the Grand Catastrophe of the Greek Drama is that We the People have been undone by the fatal flaws - e.g., the Bushista admin, and the Obama admin because he kept so many of the characters from the Bushista admin, as well as the policies of his predecessor.

IF things do not change SOON - VERY SOON, as in BEFORE the convention in Philly which is now less than a month away, the Grand Joke will still be on We the People and will will have four-to-eight more years of reality TV drama like we endured when HRC's husband was prez. Or else the reality TV star may become prez and turn our government into his very own reality TV series. If not, HRC will turn this nation into a fascist dictatorship under the rule of TPP corporations who will take over our courts, Congress will continue to be owned by the corporation and banks and Wall Street, and our Treasury & Social Security Trust Fund will be given to the Clinton Foundation. There is no catastrophe too awful to imagine if either one is "elected" (via hacked e-voting machines) as prez.

While I fervently WISH for the Clintonistas and Drumpfs in this campaign season to get their just rewards, that the Furies will eliminate them from the running..., and the Fates favor We the People with a sensible president for a change - like Bernie Sanders (after a quarter of a century with disastrous "leaders," we are due some good fortune for a change), I can't help but feel we're careening toward the precipice at an alarming rate and will be unable to stop before heading into the abyss.

Make it stop, please?!?!?

So true-- but I have this strange feeling- I didn't have it with Bush and Co. I really have it now, and I don't believe it's just wishful thinking. I just really feel that neither Drumpf nor HRC will be in the race in November-- especially HRC. I think the repugs will trot out Mittens. He's almost as unbridledly ambitious as the Clintons.

Even if Bernie doesn't come with us, I think we could raise Jill up to a point where she scared the hell out of the Establishment. AND if Bernie has truly inspired people to run for every congressional seat and those brave souls kick some dead weight out of Congress, the progressives just might be in a position to win a contingent election.
