Scaring People Can Work Two Ways
The Democratic Party and especially HRC intend to scare the US American people into voting against her opponents rather than doing anything that would encourage us to vote for her or the party. That tactic can also work for us. Let's turn the tables on them.
Here is the plan:
Everyone needs to take to Twitter and FaceBook to beg the GOP to dump Trump. Let them know that they can garner a lot of votes for a more reasonable candidate from those Democrats and Independents who refuse to support HRC. If a big enough noise is made, it will achieve two goals.
1. The GOP may decide that it is in their best interests to forgo putting Trump forward. If nothing else, they may bring him under control (then we will need to figure out who is pulling his strings). In fact, he may see the error of his ways himself (not that it will change his personality) and at least start making some sense whicht will take away some of HRC's attack tools.
2. It will create more doubt and maybe even a huge amount of doubt that HRC can win. Having (hopefully) a million or so voters declare that they WILL vote for the GOP will surely have some effect on the thinking of more than a few of her backers.
Now, no one has to actually vote for the GOP contender, we only have to say we will in a very loud and clear manner. Telling the GOP and the Dems that neither neither Trump or HRC is acceptable to a huge amount of voters will have the effect of scaring both parties...if we can get enough people to get on board. If there are enough posts--particularly if we can make it go viral, the media (at least the alternative media) will pick it up and help spread the word.
Plan implementation:
It is fast and easy and free to set up Wordpress accounts where short, easy to digest articles can be posted that say that a person or group will vote for a GOP candidate other than Trump. Pick one HRC issue the writer has as the reason for the vote switch, give a few examples, ask/beg the GOP to save us--hyperbole there, but you get the picture, but it has to look honest. Maybe even ask the GOP to throw us a bone like laying off of social security or whatever. These articles could be added to Twitter posts and FB pages (they can be trashed later).
We need to create a couple of hashtags and most likely a few sockpuppets, spread the word to families and friends of the plan and start posting--daily. We only have a month to effect any change, and the only way to make this work is to make it HUUUUUGGGGEEEE.
Remember, this is a strategy not a pledge to vote GOP.
PS. I am only partially awake at the moment, so I hope this is clear.
Edited to add: We also need two new hashtags on a related track: #ObamaReleaseTheEmails and #PutinReleaseTheEmails

If I can summarize,
If I understand correctly:
1. Convince the Repubs to nominate a 'less scary' candidate.
2. Don't vote for him.
This steals much of Clinton's "scary Trump" argument, but probably tips the election toward a Republican President. Which might not be as bad as a Clinton.
"I’m a human being, first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” —Malcolm X
At this point I am willing to
sacrifice fours years to a Republican rather than get eight years of Clinton. I would prefer it not be Trump (or worse yet Cruz).
Summary looks good. It also lets the DNC know they might want to rethink their choices. The GOP convention is a week before the Dem one. If someone other than Trump comes out ahead, HRC will not be prepared for it. She has put all her eggs into the Trump basket.

I can see this as a viable action.
Not to assert too fine a point at this juncture, but: Authenticity is the key to success for this sort of action. As this sort of action unfolds the conversation could generate some heat. Well planned — this action could generate more light than heat, a very desirable outcome indeed.
Would you care to suggest this in the Open Planning Conference article?
Run with it...
I have pretty much used up today's energy supply.
I would suggest getting people from places like Reddit on board. this will take a lot of people, but I think it is quite doable. One of the reasons that I suggested short pieces is that it leaves less room to insert in-authenticity...short, simple, state the reason, make a plea, get out.

There is this happening now too:

Thank you very much for this link.
I signed the petition he talked about and added:

The problem I see
With this part here: "2. It will create more doubt and maybe even a huge amount of doubt that HRC can win. Having (hopefully) a million or so voters declare that they WILL vote for the GOP will surely have some effect on the thinking of more than a few of her backers..." Is that the establishment Dems will take that as a sign that what they need to do is find an even more conservative candidate than HRC for next time. They've already convinced themselves that in order for HRC to win over Sanders supporters, she needs to be more right wing in the GE. No matter what we do, the answer to them is always going to be to go further to the right.
I do think I'd rather see a republican presidency than a Hillary one, because at least if we get the Senate flipped, we'll face a few years of gridlock added onto the years we've already faced, but with a Hillary presidency, flipped Senate or no, disaster will be a guarantee for hundreds of millions of people. And during that gridlock we can get an actual party of the people going.
The Dems are going to move further to the right
no matter what we do if we do not stop them. I do not think many of the establishment Republicans care who actually wins, the agenda will be the same (proof positive of that in Obama). However, I think the Dems do care if they lose, not for policy sakes, but for the sake of winning.
To your last paragraph: Exactly!

If there is no struggle there is no progress.--Frederick Douglass
Good spectulation but I disagree for the simple reason
that it assumes establishment republicans don't want Hillary to win.
I know that many of them do not care one way or
the other as a Republican or HRC in office is the same thing. The point though is to serve notice to the Dems.

A timely musical insertion
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
i don't do twitter or facebook, so i'm out
i also don't capitalize for the most part. it usually gets in the way of needing to eat or pet the dog as i type with just one hand.
