But first, breaking news...........
The AP confirms that Empress Clinton I of the Very Galactic Empire will be assuming the coat of arms shown below:
To demonstrate her wonderful awesomeness........... and the scary bits.
Back on track, who had this waving around just before the pitchforks arrived?
This week's mystery flag.
Comments
Yikes! No clue other than
some minor German royalty descended from 13 different houses?
I think I see the arms of Bremen, Mecklenburg and Nassau therein, so I'm guessing it's either from the end of the North German Confederation (1871) or the German Empire (1918, end of WW I).
The heraldic description must be the size of a book.
There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.
Oops
you had me fooled, stopped reading too soon.

Difficult to tell......
The coat-of-arms in the middle of the flag isn't the easiest to read in that pic.

"Pitchforks" is a clue, I think, but
I can't place the background (red cross on sky-blue? Who used that?) .
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Flags of the World says
that it's the state flag of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg prior to 1918. But that doesn't explain the pitchforks.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
1918 is a clue.
The destruction of the Deutsches Reich, the abolition of the duchies (Herzogs ) and the establishment of the Weimar Republic.
I think I alluded to that above

Pitchforks and torches
Down with the nobility!

Which "Flags Of The World" are you using, The Other Maven?
Running a search engine on "Flags Of The World" brings up 7 - 10 websites making use of that phrase.
"US govt/military = bad. Russian govt/military = bad. Any politician wanting power = bad. Anyone wielding power = bad." --Shahryar
"All power corrupts absolutely!" -- thanatokephaloides

Don't take the pitchforks too literally
TheOtherMaven is correct. It is the state flag of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg prior to 1918.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
The mystery flag...
...looks Haitian to me for some reason.
