Bob Schieffer Tells The Truth Last Night
Submitted by capforfun on Wed, 06/08/2016 - 7:01am
My wife and I were watching CBS when out of the blue Schieffer during the round table talk about Bernie pulling out something like "No one is talking about the 800 pound gorilla, he is likely staying in waiting to see if Hillary is indicted".
Not one person at the table picked that up or even commented on Hillary's very significant potential to be indicted! The funniest part was when my wife said "How come no one else is talking about that" I laughed and said, because they want a job tomorrow and they can't fire Schieffer.

Two thoughts
1.It ain't over 'til it's over -Trump's shennanigans may make the Party dump him at the convention. An indictment may stifle HRC.
2. Obama will not let HRC be indicted. Did they make a deal back in 2008? Obama elected, but promises to support her 8 yrs later. We have we known for the last several yrs, her intent to run.
I do not think she will be indicted but
there may be just enough dog poop come out of this investigation or one or more of her subordinates is indicted, that the Dems decide to dump her. IMO, that is why everyone is calling for Bernie to drop out. He is the impediment to the Dems installing whomever they wish if Hillary becomes too toxic. And she is very close to that toxicity level politically IMHO.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

When Bernie Meets With Obama Thursday
Bernie to Obama at the beginning of the meeting
"Mr President, before we get started I would like to request that you provide me with a complete update into the FBI probe of Hillary"
Ha
Obama would not know any more than Sanders on that one.
Yeah that is what they say publicly, but
that is not how Washington works, he knows what is going on
Yes, he is not supposed to know.
When he makes his pronouncements that he doesn't think it rises to the level of harming national security, etc., I wish we had a decent journalist out there to say: "How do you know, Mr. President? Are you being kept informed of what transpires each day with the investigations?" He has commented on the investigations twice that I am aware of, maybe more. No one thinks to ask him how he comes to his conclusion.
Just to clarify
Obama said that he is sure Clinton did nothing intentionally to harm national security. Big difference.
Not sure how big it is.
Seems to be an inconsistency
Very early on Obama said that the private server had on it some of America's most sensitive and important secrets. I don't have time to track down a link now.
It's Obama's inconsistency
that which you refer to is known as SAP--Special Access Program intelligence. That was out on that server for the three months the home-brewed one went unencrypted.
So Obama is lying then or he's lying now. My money is firmly on "now", too....
She put this country in jeopardy
by continually selling it out to the highest bidder. The classified, IMHO, is not the smoking gun, and they probably all do the same type of dumb shit she did with that. It is the quid pro quo they do NOT want released, all those arms deals to rogue countries put us at far greater "risk" than merely releasing some classified.
I had a clearance once back in the day, and while the source of the information is most of the reason FOR the classification, the info itself is many times already publicly known. And I think that little distinction isn't being made because the classified isn't the REAL problem for them, it's the exposure of their corruption they don't want made public. And as long as they stick to this idea that the classified IS the big deal, they don't have to talk about their corruption, which is the far bigger issue. Just my two cents.

An indictment could happen, but it might not be realistic to expect one. At the very least, if someone else is charged, I'm hoping that the "compromise" between Justice, the White House and the FBI is that Hils will be named as an unindicted coconspirator (shades of Tricky Dick Nixon).

Ha. Haven't heard that in awhile. What does it even mean? You conspired to break the law, or conspired and broke the law, but oh well, we're not going to indict you?
Obama will do whatever is required to protect her.
Sad....but true.
My how things have changed. Back in 1975, my state's governor, Arch Moore, a West Virginia Republican and sitting governor was indicted on relatively weak corruption charges by the Justice Department. Fellow Republican Gerald Ford was POTUS (Ford and Moore were in Congress together in the 1960s and liked one another). Moore was acquitted at trial in 1976, while in office.
Prove me wrong, President Obama, show me that you have the courage of Jerry Ford. As a fucking minimum!!
"Just call me Hillbilly Dem(exit)."

Agreed....
The probability she will be indicted will be quite low, but any short-fingered vulgarian will easily be able to take the dirt that's already been dug up (and whatever else will ooze out of that pustulent mess) and run with it. (I believe the only reason he hasn't done so with gusto thus far is a) you want to wait until there's as much of it on hand as can be to be able to dump on her campaign each day; and b) it's best to wait until after the conventions anyway to start the attacks so as to give her less time to deal with it all.

I think it will come to one of the following
FBI Director Comey resigns if no indictment after a recommendation. However, Comey my have been promised something by Obama to prevent this from happening. Not sure what Comey would want in exchance for not recommending an idictment, but he does have some leverage. Then again, there's a good chance Comey will never indict Hillary because he simply isn't as "upright" as some in the media have portrayed him.
or
FBI agents working the case start leaking if no indictment issued or no recommendation to DOJ made. Arguing against this is that the agent who leaked would likely be discovered and charged by DOJ with criminal violation (haven;t the time to look up the statute but I am sure there is something they would use).
Whatever happens I do not foresee an indictment until after the nomination, if then.

What if it's multiple FBI agents? Which is what I heard.
That's one interesting version of "I am Spartacus!"
Also, there's no way the security state is going to viciously punish agents who leak this. This isn't like Snowden. The security state actually *wants* Hillary to lose. She has already compromised two covert missions, and she's exposed whatever was on her server--which could include a lot of rich and powerful people's secrets--the the whole damned world for about three months.

They don't want her
They sure have a funny way of showing they don't want her: Withholding her TPP-related emails from FOIA requests until after the election; allowing voter fraud to take place in New York, NJ, California, Nevada, MA without remedy, sanction, or recounts; declaring Clinton the nominee via media the night before five primaries take place; slow-going the FBI investigation.
You're talking about more than one "they."
This is a good article, though long.

Spot on.
Think you've nailed it.
If Clinton isn't indicted, willing to bet someone at FBI "leaks" enough to destroy her too.
Is there any honesty and integrity left in DC?
Forgive my naïveté in believing someone in the FBI has a conscience and a moral compass.
It takes more than a conscience
It's not about conscience or moral compass, primarily
It's about the fact that they don't want her.
The problem is that, of course, they don't want Bernie either.
They want someone with Clinton's horrendous propensities and policies who can obey some goddamned security rules.

I just couldn't disagree more
I've always respected your input, but every time I read a comment about this that downplays Hillary's involvement in this, I'm left with the opinion that the person making it simply doesn't know the facts of what has transpired.
This is not simply about the personal use of email account to conduct government business. This is about safeguarding classified national security information. Hillary spent 4 years at one of the highest levels of government with nearly complete disregard for the importance of the information entrusted to her. Her blatant disregard for common sense handling of classified information is incredible. In at least 18 now documented cases her email trail has identified the names and email address of active CIA agents putting there very lives in danger. She obtained highly classified information from her friend, Sid Blumenthal who had no security clearances whatsoever and failed to report those facts to her superiors. There is and probably still is a active leak in the CIA or the NSA that has been feeding Blumenthal the information he was passing on to Clinton. She handed the entire contents of her private server, complete with those CIA identities and other classified information, to a company that had no security clearances whatsoever and had no experience in ever handling classified material. They made a complete copy of information and then allowed the entire contents of that server to be uploaded and backup on the cloud. Who knows how many foreign entities have likely obtained that information.
None of this can be laid at the feet of one of Hillary's subordinates. Hillary is solely responsible for the setup of the unsecured private server in her home and none of her subordinates could ever be considered responsible for that. This was of her own doing and she was clearly aware that what she was doing was not approved. She was not allowed to take her own BlackBerry into her own office in the State Department because it was an unsecured device. She had to put it in a lock box outside her office before she could enter her own office. For 4 years she continued to do this rather than use secure email channels provided by the State Department. Ask yourself, Why would she do that? And really, we don't yet have the complete answer to that question but many suspect it has something to do with deals she made that involve the Clinton Foundation and those layers of the onion have yet to be peeled back.
Remember, that the only reason we know about here private server and email practices was by an inadvertent discovery by the republicans during there many BENGHAZI!! hearings. They just happened to stumble on this. What is most unusual is that since the day those 4 men were killed, nearly every single time we've seen a republican give a press conference Benghazi has been mentioned. They gone on and on and on about Benghazi until no one even cares anymore. What you don't hear is republicans talking about this email and server issue. It's almost as if they act like they don't even know it exists. Yeah Trump blurted out an attack in outrage over something Hillary attacked him on, but the rest of the republicans have remained silent. And there's a reason for that!
Mark my words, the day Hillary officially becomes the democratic nominee on July 25th, should it happen, the republicans will unleash the dogs of hell and you'll never see a republican on television or in print who isn't raving about the email scandal. Right now, it is there best interest to allow Hillary to obtain the nomination. They don't want to go against Bernie because they know they will lose. Once Hillary has cinched the nomination they will be merciless and I'll but guarantee you that she will be indicted on some charges and will likely be forced to exit the race because of her reckless, criminal actions.
I urge you , I beg you to read Thompson's Timeline on the Hillary Clinton E-mail Problems If you don't have time to read the long version at least make time to read the medium version and see if you change your mind on Hillary's culpability in this matter. The only way she will get a pass on this is they manage to keep us confused an unaware of what actually transpired. I think once you read through the timeline, all supported by links to the underlying sources, you'll agree that Hillary will be indicted in the near future., Others are sitting in prison right now far far less egregious offenses. She may not serve jail time due to a plea bargain or a presidential pardon, but she will surely be indicted!

Obama needs to clean house, or they will destroy what's left of his legacy. Bet the proverbial "chess player" has had his moves ready for a long time!
Comey's timing - the TIME HE'S TAKING - to make the case bullet proof, is key too. Let the primary "wins" settle, and then the media will be ready for the next step.
Don't recall where I read this
But I remember hearing that Comey didn't want to appear as interfering in the primary, but he wanted to wrap up before the convention so the party had time to react.

Been thinking about The Art of War lately
Keeping your enemy in the dark, using the element of surprise, and esp. knowing how your enemy thinks. In this case the enemy's been telegraphing their moves through the media and surrogates. They announced that it was over before the votes were even counted, because it really was an already done deal because TPTB knew a) the fix was in just like in NY, where HRC smirked (as the voters were being purged) while Bernie got a standing ovation at the Brooklyn debate, 2) it wd depress turnout to boot. They say the super delegates won't change and they know that because they've already paid in full (or with IOU's) for those very votes, not to mention the 1%ers & lobbyists who are always on the corporate payroll.
Its hard for so many people to believe the depth of corruption and how pervasive it is. The reach of TPTB is so wide and our movement is so young at this stage. But don't forget that it's only been a year since Bernie's been on the national stage and too many people still have no idea who this guy is or what he stands for, because the media, acting in concert with the establishment wheelerdealers, have censored anything positive about him or his supporters (those damn disrespectful chair-throwers who make old lady senators scarred for their lives) who they may have to deal with rather harshly at the Convention (but not to worry cause they've been preparing, well before NV, how best to bring those thugs to heel). They also do that projection thing where they attribute their own thoughts and actions to their opponents - so calling Berners racist, sexist, violent, hateful etc., is their way of deflecting attention away from themselves because if people knew the truth there might be some rumbling in the streets (in a lot of places all at once simultaneously everywhere unexpectedly totally peaceful congregations of Knowers of the Truth in every city and town united in spirit and committed to standing their ground).
How to get information out to the folks who don't spend time on social media to find out what's going on in the world because they think they're already getting the real news (if they're not watching FOX?. How to organize on a massive scale w/o attracting the wrong eyes? Not sure how this is implemented but I do know that it helps to be flexible, and on the move (a moving target is always harder to hit.) ;^D
meh.
She is vary unlikely to be indicted, and I am not sure she would drop out if she were. By the time it was an issue, her candidacy would be taken over by whomever she picks for VP.
Bernie and Obama have had
many discussions recently. They were on the phone last week and when asked, Bernie said he doesn't disclose his conversations with POTUS. We don't know what's being said. What we do know is that Bernie is hanging in. Something will transpire. I'm interested to see what turn of events takes place.

I don't know, OLinda.
I've watched him move more toward Bernie. I think he sees what he could have been but sold out. I also think he knows, and has always known, the machine would take over and cut Bernie out. Maybe that's what he's been telling him. I sure wish I could share your faith
in the ultimate goodness of Mr Obama. I just no longer feel that way. I think he'd do anything he had to to protect all their "legacies" of power, unmitigated power in the name of American hegemony. They really think that is THE important part, and all they seem to care about.
No, from a man who'd even consider cutting SS benefits or Medicare, from a man who saddled us with subsidizing the profits of insurance companies, a man who will ram that TPP through in his last lame duck session and call anyone who disagrees with it a racist, a man who seems to have no qualms about conducting drone wars and killing civilians, a man who'd actually contemplate going into Libya, a man who would protect his own SOS to the detriment of this country and globe, all for American POWER? I no longer have any faith in that man. I think he now will do whatever he has to so he can stay in their club and to make sure his own daughters are admitted to it also.
He's a great orator, and he's maybe given Bernie a few pep talks, but he knows deep down that he would do NOTHING to help get Bernie elected, or anyone else who will buck that status quo he's now, finally, a part of!

with you on Obama, lizzyh7. I want to think better of him, but he keeps taking that hope he touted, away from me, from all of us. Obama a Third Way Dem
Obama suckled on Bill Clinton's Third Way teat way before he became president (sorry about the imagery). He only sounded all hope and changey progressive to get elected. He fooled us all. From day one, Obama reneged on every promise he made during his campaign. A neoliberal con artist in progressive clothing.

But as far as I can see, he dislikes, perhaps even hates, Hillary Clinton. I don't think he or anybody close to him have forgotten the shit she pulled in 2008.
If he can figure out a way to wreck her political ascendancy without pissing off their mutual bosses, I bet he'd be happy to do it.

There is no way the Obama Administration's Justice Department...
...will indict Secretary Clinton. Zero. It's best to accept that and move on. That said, I will predict that Hillary Clinton will not only be the first female elected President of the United States, she will also be the first to be impeached before she even takes the oath of office. You may ask, "How is that even possible?" Easy. The new Congress gets sworn in three weeks before the new president, and the House GOPosaurs won't waste any time beginning their two-year reign of terror. Sure, she won't even get a trial in the Senate (which the Dems should be able to win back), let alone a conviction and removal from office. But that doesn't matter, because impeachment is a political act, not a criminal justice act. And it's not like we didn't repeatedly warn Clinton supporters that this would happen, and that the only things she gets done will be enacting the GOP agenda and betraying progressives...

I guess it officially starts today, the two most hated people in the country are the two major party offerings for president. It used to be that it was easy to identify which was the lesser evil, and we would gladly delude ourself into holding our nose in belief that the lesser evil was a good thing to vote for. Election after election.
But now we have two greater evils tossed in front of us, and good people are frightened at the prospect of either one becoming president. We will find a reason to be terrified of one a bit more than the other, and we will fight with each other over which monster to fear more.

Two Evils
I'll vote for the incompetent evil one who needs guidance from advisors over the competent, experienced one any day.
I have some fears for the
I have some fears for the future of not just this country but the entire planet from rampant climate change among many other ills that neither corporate candidate will do anything about, except exacerbate them.
One thing I'm not afraid to do is state the obvious: HRC is an f'ing lawyer herself, not some naïve schoolmarm out of a Capra movie (if the gender of the hero could be switched to apply to her more directly) who wants to go to Washington and help us all. She broke the law on purpose and thinks she should get away with it because she's already rich and powerful. Well, fuck her all to hell. She should be hiding out off the grid somewhere with Snowden or in a cell with Chelsea Manning. Or rather, they should be applauded, and she should take their place because she did it all for selfish greed and entitlement. There is no justice in this land because the field is tilted to such an extreme that there is no level place for the blindfolded lady on the statue to stand. The statue has rolled to the bottom, and the lady is lying in broken bits, unrecognizable to most except as a sad, cruel reminder of shattered ideals.
My blindfold is off though, and I'm never going back to that state of willful blindness that let me believe that "it's different when Democrats feed at the corporate trough because they are only doing it to have a chance to beat the corrupt Republicans. When they get elected, they will show us all that they care about all of the people and not just their corporate masters." Never happened and never will. A wolf in sheep's clothing is far worse than a wolf because the disguise enables two-fold injury to its prey: the harm is physical and psychological because it unjustifiably shames us for falling for the ruse. Never, ever again.
Donating $27 to Bernie in Rachel Maddow's name
As MSNBC's impatience mounted for Bernie to speak (and genuflect) last night Rachel Maddow was "furiously" scanning a Politico hack job on the Sander's campaign for material to fill the increasingly dead air. I watched her put the bit between her teeth and go for Bernie's throat. It was raw and personal and she continued even when the rest of the team looked on in dismay, struggling to counsel journalistic restraint.
For a brief moment I could actually see inside Eugene Robinson's head as he attempted, Indiana Jones style, to grab his Pulitzer back off the alter stone in exchange for a wad of MSNBC cash. Unfortunately, unlike Indie, he kept the cash and the moment passed but he did mention the word "indictment" which sent Maddow off on another harangue.
When they cut to Chris Matthews, he'd had another Camelot flashback and quixotically took up Bernie's cause as the rightful and enduring progressive movement leader. He wasn't buying what Maddow was selling.
As I said last night, I will never watch her again, it was one of worst, most despicable and petulant displays of partisan, media bias I have ever seen. I know the Lincoln bedroom field trip will be wonderful, but really... you sold out for a plush White House robe and slippers?
Two Points
The Oligarchy does not go to Jail, or face criminal prosecution. In fact, they never see the inside of a court room...instead statues are erected (to make them out to be "heroes").
The only way that the Democratic Establishment abandons Hillary Clinton now, would be if various polls came out showing that Trump had a 20% lead over her. Then they would be just scared enough to rethink ....
Here is a good summary of the legal & political situation.

They want a pro-plutocracy candidate that will obey security rules and not endanger the secrets of rich and important people in the course of freelancing dirty deals for personal profit. Those dirty deals are not supposed to be made on a private unsecured server by a handful of individuals. They are supposed to be made according to the security state's rules and under their guidance.
The challenge for them: how to get rid of Hillary without installing Bernie?
If you want to look for a political face for this movement, I'd say Obama is likely to be the public face for this group of people. He wants to preserve the plutocracy, but he hates Hillary.
There will be fallout of some kind from this. It may not benefit us.

Obama did just endorse Clinton, right?
It's just amazing -- they're all going to go to work to promote this obvious narcissist...

I'm not arguing that Obama is going to oppose Clinton
publicly. Obviously, he can't do that; it would piss off his bosses on Wall St and at the Chamber of Commerce (who are also her bosses).
I'm arguing that he is going to work with the security state to stab her in the back. Likely, the ultimate move of that game will be to put Biden, perhaps w/Warren as VP, onto a second ballot at the convention.

He will certainly continue to support Hillary until Bernie
is out of the race. We can't have an actual populist get anywhere near the levers of power.

I don't agree with Schieffer at all
He's just plain missing the point, surprise surprise. Sanders has said repeatedly that the campaign is not about him, it's about us and about getting rid of the oligarchic system. That's what the mainstream media REALLY doesn't want to talk about.
For this reason Sanders is not throwing in the towel, and if he can't do this in the primary elections, he will do it at the convention. If that also doesn't work, I know what I would do, but I haven't yet heard what he would do, so I won't speculate.
