Lessons on how to shut these bastards down, at least temporarily. Nancy Pelosi has another loyal follower, dismissive to the desires of his putative constituents. We know who the constituents are: megabuck donors. Ain't me; ain't you. I took advantage of Carbajal's first Santa Maria town hall to ask a question that is on the minds of most people. The Town Hall was covered by our local newspaper, the Santa Maria Times to mark the less-than-grand opening of this new congressional office.
Found this in one of Ralph Nader's books. It is a call to action. We need to hold our elected officials' collective feet to the fire. Organize meetings within the communities. Agree on the agenda and specific questions to be addressed. Set up a place and time. Publish, post and share. Call, write, twitter and feed it to the media outlets. Accountability, not evasion. It is the democratic way.
If you have the chance, please watch this weekend's Rainbow PUSH Coalition town hall with Bernie and Rev'd Jesse Jackson, Sr, held today. It is special: watch these two old friends and the town hall interact. It is marvellous, like an old barbershop quartet singing in harmony.
