1) As we settle in for another settler-colonial holiday, it appears that the time is ripe for an intrusion of those ugly matters of politics into our entertainment fare. There will, as you all well know, be sports spectacle on your tee-vee screens today. For the purposes of this article we will be referring to "spectacle sports," namely, the sports you see on that tee-vee.
The idea behind focused apathy is that there are certain things in life which do not merit our attention and which are there to keep us from seeing other things which we might benefit from seeing. Focused apathy, then, is the power to avoid caring about those things. There is, after all, a reason why people's eyes are both on the same side of the head, and not on opposite sides of the head, like what you see with a lot of birds.
