Looter-in-Chief Trump: 'We should take Iraq's Oil'
I'm Not Kidding. Trump actually said that OUT LOUD on national teevee at last night's Commander-in-Chief Forum. Yes, Islam, the next American President just said he's coming to steal your oil. Now stop saying "Death to America". Hahaha.
Trump : “The — and I think you know — because you’ve been watching me I think for a long time — I’ve always said, shouldn’t be there, but if we’re going to get out, take the oil. If we would have taken the oil, you wouldn’t have ISIS, because ISIS formed with the power and the wealth of that oil.
LAUER: How were we going to take the oil? How were we going to do that?
TRUMP: Just we would leave a certain group behind and you would take various sections where they have the oil. They have — people don’t know this about Iraq, but they have among the largest oil reserves in the world, in the entire world.
And we’re the only ones, we go in, we spend $3 trillion, we lose thousands and thousands of lives, and then, Matt, what happens is, we get nothing. You know, it used to be to the victor belong the spoils. Now, there was no victor there, believe me. There was no victor. But I always said: Take the oil.
One of the benefits we would have had if we took the oil is ISIS would not have been able to take oil and use that oil…
”Trump frequently suggests the United States should have seized Iraq’s oil, even though Iraq is a sovereign nation and the United States went to war against Iraq in 1991 because it had seized Kuwait’s oil fields. In the forum, Trump said the United States could have kept troops in Iraq to secure the oil fields — though, as noted above, that is the opposite of his position that the troops needed to be withdrawn immediately.
Source: Fact-checking Clinton and Trump in NBC’s commander-in-chief forum
Trump was quite unhinged. Also saying he wants to greatly expand the US Military -- which is already ten times the cost of the next 10 nations combined.
Hellery was a Real War Monger too. You can tell World War III with Iran will commence by next June should she ascend to the Iron Throne.
We are clearly and totally f**ked no matter which of these Looney Toons wins.
UPDATE:
Ok so apparently I was too subtle and I need to really spell out the problem here.
Problems in order of importance:
- Trump wants to steal Iraq's oil. Yes, other presidents have been doing it too. But that doesn't make it OK.
- Trump says so on national TV. ISIS now has a US Presidential candidate saying it on video. That will be in their next recruiting video, trust me.
Comments
This was huge but not even mentioned this AM
There were so many crazy things that came out of the Fascist Trump's mouth but this little pearl, which could have been amongst the worst was not even mentioned in the media. I mean he basically just confirmed the biggest fear of the Arab world and uncovered the truth to why we are even there.
I mean Bush and his henchmen wanted the oil and that was the reason for the invasion. But Trump come g out on national TV saying that his plan would be to basically wall off the oil fields with troops and steal the oil, in Trumps parlense "To the victor go the spoils" The Victor, really so we invaded Iraq not to free the people but rather to conquer, rape and pillage them, nice.
There are days when I am ashamed to be an American
Exactly. Matt Lauer That Clueless Twerp
After Trump said this about stealing the oil, Lauer was just nodded like it was just Our Right As America Exceptionalists to rob the world. He did not call Trump on this statement. These are soverign nations. You can't just rob them cause you feel like it.
When I googled news on this today I half expected it to be a huge story. But no, crickets...
However, I'll give Lauer credit for asking both of these wackjobs some tough questions. He gave them both plenty of rope to hang themselves, which they did. So cudos to Matt for that.

Problem #1 Trump wants to steal Iraq's oil
Problem #2 ISIS now has a US Presidential candidate saying so on video.
So yeah, in my view it's a problem.

Didn't it all start though
on the premise by Dubya, Rummie, or Heartless that the oil would pay for the war and it would only cost $20bil or so.
So ya Pandies Box was opened and we are still reaping the consequences
of this some 15 years later. Neither of the two "leading candidates" are worth their weight in shit.

Umm,
How is " take their oil" any different from what the Bushies wanted to do? Trump might mean the us govt, while the Bushies wanted oil companies to get it. Not sure that distinction makes a difference.
Now, trumps diagnosis of Isis is all wet. No war, no Isis.
Sure the Bushies took the oil
but they didn't have the stupidity to announce it on teevee.
Irbil is Iraq's Huston -- HQ for all the US Oilcos. If you noticed, Obama didn't care about ISIS until they threatened Irbil.

"But they didn't gave the stupidity to announce it on tv"
And that's the real problem republican power brokers gave with trump. It's all right to Think These things, but we never say them out loud.
So, we want politicians to tell a lie that we *know* is a lie--
because, I don't know, it's more polite not to bluntly state that we made war on Iraq to take control of their oil.
Interesting that Trump wants that oil to belong the United States, rather than the US military being a middleman for certain American (and other) businesses.

I disagree
Bush and his surrogates where quite clear that they were going to do this. Remember how they (particularly Cheney and Wolfowitz) said that the "rebuilding" of Iraq would be paid for with oil revenue? That's mighty white of us to blow everything up and steal their resources to pay our contractors to half ass rebuild what we blew up on the first place.
And given that Wolfowitz is supposedly leaning Clinton (according to Alternet and Salon) ...
I try and remember who Trump is appealing to and the
level of understanding of the political process his voters possess and I think this issue is summed up in the old bumper sticker from the "gas crisis" of the 1970's: "Kick Their Ass and Steal Their Gas" was displayed on many a pickup's rear bumper.

Level of understanding
I think that's it right there in many ways. My own Tea Bag mother once made that remark, and she was a Rush listener so we know her level of understanding. I asked her just what in hell she thought we'd been doing for the last hundred years or so when the West drew the maps of those "countries" back after WWI? Of course she had no answer to that. Why in hell would we be fighting these wars if not for oil? Democracy? Please...
But the Rump is performing his role well. Not good though that ISIS now has an American presidential candidate openly declaring this position, but then again, I think the Arab world has known for a long time just what our agenda really is.

In other words
This isn't news to them (in the Middle East, or really, any other country in the world.) Trump is just blatantly saying it aloud. We, the American public, are the only idiots still believing we're defending our freedoms and bestowing beneficent democracy on the countries we invade, the governments we overthrow, the oligarchs we prop up.
In a sparkle unicorn world we would have an option line

The fact that Hillary Clinton is not 50 points
ahead of this putz is a combination of 1) the fear and ignorance that abounds in America and 2) the fact that Hillary is a horrible person and an even worse candidate who couldn't run a successful campaign for county auditor. I just haven't figured out the % split on the two reasons.
I've said it before, Hillary is blessed by the fact that she is running against Trump, the only person she could beat. And that's balanced by the fact that Trump is equally blessed to be running against Hillary, the only person HE could possibly defeat.

Whose Merican Ignorance is that?
I'm fully in support of the people rating both these loathsome candidates equally loathsome--or nearly so. If anything, I think maybe the majority American view is a little too kind to Clinton.
Actually, America is showing great intelligence in this election. 60% of us think the whole thing is garbage, and would rather draw straws than go through with this.

II. People rarely try to find out about someone they've never heard of.
Yes, there are a ton of dumbasses in America. We're a country of 300 million that's dismantled its schools and press.
But the "other two candidates not being within striking distance" has nothing to do with being dumbasses. We could all be fucking geniuses and it would work the same.
Deny the flow of information and you get a lot of uninformed choices, sort of like damming up a stream means you get less water on the other side.
Nobody will vote for someone they've never heard of.
Very few will look for someone they've never heard of either.
Not one person in 1,000, anywhere, is going to say: "Oh. These two candidates suck. I'd better look to see if there are any others the media hasn't told me about! Maybe there's an unknown candidate out there that DOESN'T suck!"--anymore than I said, at 23, "Oh. The kinds of Christianity that are visible to me suck. I'd better look to see if there are any others I don't know about." I just thought: "I can't live with this basic premise of Christianity, which seems to be present in every church I've ever seen. So I'm leaving." Twenty years later, I discover Universalism and look like an ass, but that's how people think. I suppose you can call me a dumbass if you want, but if so, the dumbassery is not located in my lack of IQ. Nor in my lack of education (I have a PhD).
I think the American people are showing fine judgement and intelligence in the matter of this election. It's just that they--or, rather, we--have limited information and no power.

Trump's supporters love him for speaking without filters.

They also want the oil, and want the world to understand that if we do not get it at just the right price to our oil companies, we will bomb you to oblivion.
This will rally his supporters.

Well said CSTS!! BUT...
We've been there, messing with their societies, churches, mosques, governments, resources for far, far longer than ten years. One could argue that we have been involved since Moses left Egypt, and did the March of Death and Destruction on the way to the Land of Milk and Honey. Then the Catholic purges of infidels during the dark ages, and within the last 100 years the partitioning of the entire region by the British Empire...with our help, and " the Straw to Break the Camels Back" we engineer the over-throw of a duly elected leader to install the Shah in Iran. It is only in the last 100 years that oil has been the riches we plunder.
Well yes, there are the Crusades,
And Britain's exciting machinations after the second world war, with us in tow.
Good context, and thank you.

He said that early on as well.
You have to read between the lines with Trump. He might say Iraq was a fiasco, etc., but what he's really saying is Obama/Clinton/Kerry didn't do it right. Like with everything else he says, he thinks he could do it better because he's a "businessman" who knows "how to get things done". You can see it also in his statement about firing and replacing generals, again alluding to the idea that they're not doing it right and he would. Generals follow the orders and agendas of the top civilians in charge and are responsible for developing plans and programs accordingly. His suggestion that he would fire some of them says he thinks some are not developing the right plans and programs to fight ISIS, topple Assad, etc. So it's not that the wars are wrong, it's that they aren't being waged adequately.
Yup. War as a Business Tool

Yeah. Just because everyone in DC has been thinking that
doesn't mean Trump should say it out loud.
So I didn't watch the damn thing last night,
but I read plenty about it last night. Donald Trump is completely unhinged and apparently wants to freely give away the national security briefings he's had (the whole two of 'em). That was the most alarming thing to me, personally.
But this is a close second. Thanks for reporting on it.
And not that I love Hillary or anything (Hillbilly Dem's comment upthread was perfect! PERFECT!) but, seriously, could Matt Lauer be a shittier moderator? Grills Clinton on the emails, goes on and on and on about it, even takes an audience question about it. Trump gets up on stage and Lauer literally lets him get away with lying his face off about everything. WTF!!!

Thanks for the clarification
That does change things somewhat in my mind but not particularly for the better. He STILL, apparently, believes in the law of the jungle rather than the rule of law. In addition he obviously has no idea what it means to occupy a nation. That's an extraordinarily difficult, expensive, and bloody enterprise even by war standards.
Still though, for future reference, I'd appreciate the surrounding context in a story like this. I wouldn't say you made anything up but there was some spin on the ball.

Correct, Snapple! But....
Medusa is not one bit better--famously stating that the destruction of Iraq was a "great business opportunity". We all know that PNAC wants that oil as does her able adviser, H. Fucking Kissinger. They just don't come out and say it. The effect is the same. The Merican dumbasses, to quote CSTS, don't know the truth but all the world's governments know exactly what the "Iraqi Freedom" operation was about--freedom to extract their oil almost at will.
Sure.. but we're not talking about Hillary here
Yes, she's got a list of faults a mile long also. But what we're talking about here is Trump's stupid statements.
We can swap over to Hillary, Iraq & Syria on another thread. I've actually been wanting to pull together a compendium of Hillary's adventures in the mideast. Maybe I'll go ahead and write that diary.
