Why Jeremy Corbyn matters to America

The right-wing media in Britain is in full freak-out mode over the implosion of the Conservative Party (with it's mishandling of Brexit) and it's implications.

So why should that matter to you as an American?
For starters, Britain always plays a supporting role in our middle east wars.

Jeremy Corbyn has called for the government to abstain from escalating tensions with Iran without “credible evidence” that Tehran was responsible for attacks on two oil tankers.

The Labour leader said Britain risked increasing the threat of war after the Foreign Office (FCO) said it was “almost certain” in its assessment that “a branch of the Iranian military … attacked the two tankers on 13 June”.

Corbyn tweeted: “Britain should act to ease tensions in the Gulf, not fuel a military escalation that began with US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement.

“Without credible evidence about the tanker attacks, the government’s rhetoric will only increase the threat of war.”

Without allies, Washington would be less likely to start a disastrous war with Iran.
If we can't get Britain to join a bullsh*t war, then you can forget the rest of Europe.
Everything Corbyn said is spot on, and for that the Tories attacked him mercilessly.

“Why can he never bring himself to back British allies, British intelligence or British interests?” he said. “We actually have video evidence that shows what the Iranians have been doing.”

“For Jeremy Corbyn, it’s all America’s fault,” Hunt asserted.

Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, considered the front runner for the leadership of the ruling Conservative party, said Corbyn’s statements “set new records for bad judgment by seeming to take the side against our number-one ally, the United States of America, in favor of the Iran Revolutionary Guard of Tehran.”

“Is that the kinda guy we want in Downing Street?” he asked. “Absolutely not.”

Leadership candidate Michael Gove also weighed in, saying Corbyn “is not fit to be trusted with our national security.”

Home Secretary Sajid Javid asked, “Why is Jeremy Corbyn never on the side of the country he seeks to lead?”

“Never mind whether he’s qualified to be PM of our great country — based on his past associations alone, Corbyn wouldn’t even qualify for a Home Office building pass,” he added.

Just like in the U.S., if you don't support all the bullsh*t wars then you are a traitor.
Even when the opposite is obviously true.
Jeremy Corbyn winning the next election would cause more problems for the warmongers in Washington than even a revival of the moribund antiwar movement.

Another reason why Corbyn matters is Julian Assange.

A request by the US to extradite Julian Assange has been signed by the Home Secretary Sajid Javid ahead of a court hearing on Friday.

By certifying the request, Mr Javid has effectively rubber-stamped it so it can now be considered by the court.

Assange's extradition hearing will be in February, and if he gets sent to the U.S. it'll be a show trial.
However, not all extradition hearings in Britain get approved, and since Assange is being prosecuted for political reasons, it would certainly make a difference if Corbyn was PM.

The BBC's diplomatic correspondent James Landale said backing Assange is not without political risk and will not find universal favour among Labour MPs - but Mr Corbyn's intervention "means the battle over Assange's future will now be as much political as it is legal".

As it stands right now, no general election is scheduled for Britain, but the situation with the Tories is completely unstable, so a general election is only a matter of time. The question is, will it be soon enough?

Jeremy Corbyn winning the next election could cause a revival of the moribund Anglo-American antiwar movement. That's the problem the warmongers in Washington are worried about more than anything else, methinks.

Corbyn scares the shat out of the Tories, and America's deep state, since he is not a certified lapdog. If only he could get in there quickly enough to stop the Assange extradition... it would be like a dream. Someone has to shut the bloody imperialists down. They are freaking out is right. Realizing they have screwed everything up, this time, even for themselves.

I like his social utterances for the most part. But his equivocating on Brexit is a problem for me. Half his Labourites are Remainers and the rest are Leavers. Brexit expresses the frustrated will of the British population. Blockading the voted for exit is an anti-Democratic maneuver by the British political class. To espouse a Remain viewpoint, in my non-British opinion, is anti-democratic stance.

So Jeremy C. leaves me with doubts about what he really believes about the EU.
