Well, I'm here.

I've been an avid fan and sometime participant on DailyKos for 10 years (or longer) but am striking out in reaction to Kos March 15th edict. I am very strong for Bernie and have gotten plenty irritated by the overt bias on the part of Kos and the Front Pagers in favor of Hillary. What had been an honest forum for Democratic discussion became increasingly hostile to those of us (the majority!) who support Bernie. When Kos laid down his edict that mandated allegiance to Hillary come the Ides of March, something changed deep within me regarding my relationship with the Kos community. Having been told to sit down and shut up, or get out, my choice was clear.

I chose "get out" with trepidation because DailyKos has been by far my favorite website. It has informed me, entertained me, and nourished my Progressive philosophy, and I am very hopeful that caucus99percent.com will come to be a community that I can call home.

My prose is pedantic at best, so I tend to comment frequently and diary (is that the right word?) occasionally. But I have a very sincere appreciation for those who artfully inform and/or implore from a Progressive perspective. I look forward to being a member of this community.

I'm confused. If we actively discriminate against jerks, but we came here to BE jerks...
Wait, does that mean we have to self-deport back to Kos to be nice?

split pretty much 50/50 between those who love her and those who see her as we do.

She is extremely rude and acts like she's entitled to something. She leans towards ethnic students and is very rude when answering questions. One way of thinking and when she's confronted with a different opinion she will insult and move on with the class. Dreadful lectures for WIR. Rude and will find any reason to call herself oppressed. Hahahaha

[For Women Studies course] Horrible. She's completely rude when you ask questions if you don't understand the assignment and need help. Very close minded too.

Love her. Love her. Though I agree with some people's comments that she can be a little close-minded and tends to only talk about things she's done for most of the class, she's done a lot of cool things so you can learn a lot from her! Take the class

etc.

Just FYI, that particular metaphor is really big with the Men's Rights Association/Pick Up Artist types. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/red-pill-mens-rights-anti-feminist...

I just cringe every time I hear it, and so do a LOT of left wingers, as a result.

Since I have been out of the dating scene- married nearly 25 years, did not know that, thanks for sharing. I was not even sure which pill was which- I had to look it up. I guess need to stick with cartoons or Monty Python references.

I read that article in horror ... oh. my. god.

Thank you for the info about the term red pill. I only knew it as a Matrix reference about choosing to face a painful reality rather than living in a fantasy world. Now I know better and can be sure to avoid using it ever.

It really sucks when an apt metaphor is co-opted as a Blatant Code Word for a foul philosophy.

I hate to be the buzz kill on this, because I don't want to be the guy who takes their crap seriously, but they've been really awful online...

Here's hoping they go away and free up intellectual real-estate that should belong to better people.

I'm new here too, another refugee from DKos following the edict, and I have similar feelings... very put off by his attitude and the sycophantic hordes over there right now. Just wanted to say hello and welcome from another newbie. I've mostly just been reading here so far, it seems like a great community with a lot of great content and good discussions, and growing really fast ever since Kos drew his bright line and made it unmistakably clear what side he is on.

Let me say that I devoutly hope that this is not the site for "honest Democratic discussion". Rather, I hope this is the site for the 99%.... populist discussion... which at times will overlap with partisan Democratic politics and at other times very much will not. The day that this site becomes a Democratic site is the day it goes the way of GOS and becomes worthless.

Any place that requires loyalty oaths to the Democratic party is a no-go zone for me.

I just think we need to define what team we are on more carefully. I'd like to believe we're on the team that's making up Bernie's movement -- the people's team. I keep hoping that this site will turn into the focal point for that. I worry that if Bernie loses the nomination and we don't have a pretty strong nucleus in place then the movement might fragment.

We need a site to bring Berniecrats to attention for donations
We need a site to bring Corporate-Democrats to our attention as needing replacement
We need a site to discuss problematic votes in Congress to make note of those Corporate Dems
We need a place to form community that is not beholden to anything other than "we the people".

And we need that sooner rather than later. But this site needs a lot of work. It needs design to make it more appealing. It needs web programmers to make it more functional and more efficient. And we need to keep attracting knowledgeable political writers to write the diaries. All of which reminds me... the donate button is up now so I need to donate Smile

So many new people have found this life raft and landed here... everyone who can should step up with donations and support for this site. I will be making a contribution this weekend, after payday tomorrow.

I hope more people will do the same.

I think the design is appealing and I like it. I would like certain features like being able to see replies more easily, and to follow specific writers or topics. I also realize this site has been slammed with new people all of sudden and it takes time to adapt. I am excited by the possibilities here!

If all the new members step up with even a few bucks I'm sure it would help, and this place certainly deserves it.

Wink See, there's a way to monitor comments. Everyone just has to remember to put the name of the person he/she is replying to in the title, and voila, when you read down the comments stream, you'll see your name and click.
Naa, seriously, comment monitoring would be about the only thing needed to make this place perfect Wink
Thank you thank you!

"When the powerless are shut out of the media, we will make the media irrelevant" ~Anonymous~

and thank you for being here.

We actually have several ways to monitor comments, see the FAQ "How do I monitor comments". Personally I almost exclusively use the "Content Stream" that is in the left sidebar. Our ultimate goal is to have a comment monitoring page that functions like the one we had in DK4, that would be perfect. After the move to a better server in the next few days, all attention will go to improving site functionality and a better user interface. The two improvements that will take priority are comment monitoring and making c99p more responsive for mobile device usage.

With the increased membership comes increased donations that will translate into a better site overall.

To a lovely place. I left GOS almost 2 weeks ago. You'll be very happy and more stress free very shortly, if you're not already.
As another Sanders supporter, you might also want to take a look here:It's for many people who left and are working for Bernie's election.

Again, welcome

Don't believe everything you think.

If you believe the DKos straw polls, 60 percent of Kossacks support Bernie for the Dem nomination. When MoveOn took a poll, they went with the majority and endorsed Bernie. Instead of crashing the gates, Kos and his inner circle are hunkering down behind the gates. Like the last "Hunger Games" movie.

the other thing I noted is that #BernieSanders has not budged from the hottest tag at dKos for months now. and yet, it seems Kos has no sense of the writing on the wall. sticking to only what registered Dems want rather than an aggregate of voters is blindsided and doesn't bode well for the future of dKos, imo.
