Happy May Day, Fellow 99ers!

And a Blessed Beltaine to you, JayRaye!
It seems that the Haymarket Heroes are remembered yet, everywhere but in their own country....

I loved this interview on Democracy Now about the 2 stories of May Day: the Green and the Red.
Couldn't find it on youtube, but here is the link:

Amazing uprising this year, isn't it?
Seems like something more radical is happening. All of these young people, with their necks being stomped on by austerity because their governments have allowed themselves to be fleeced by the Big Bank conglomerates, rising up against their Neoliberal overlords.
Thanks for the great visual roundup JR. Noticed that the German forces use water canons, like the Turkish, in a more violent use of force by their police. While the Italians and French tend to seem to be much more civilized (though tear gas is pretty brutal too). I've been to many protests and marches here in NYC and the cops here are way more menacing and dehumanized thugs to me. They're all about clubbing people, blood, bashing skulls, beating anybody (including women), much more hair-trigger responses.
Did you hear about Iraq? Protesters stormed the Green Zone (what a typically American corporate euphemism), demanding and end to government corruption.

THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC"

My pleasure, Mark.
NYC police are unbelievably brutal. I've been to many protests in my years but thank goodness have never faced anything like what I saw from police in NYC during occupy.
Takes courage to protest now-a-days. Police are behaving in US more and more like in the old days when brutality was the order of the day.
I did hear about Iraq, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
