U.S. is slaughtering civilians at a staggering pace

According to polls most Americans are indifferent to the carnage that we inflict around the world.
Right now the target of that carnage is Raqqa.

At least 100 civilians have been killed over the past 48 hours by US-led air attacks targeting fighters in Raqqa, the de-facto capital of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) in Syria.
Residents told Al Jazeera on Tuesday that at least 100 civilians had been killed since Sunday, with 55 civilians killed in the eastern neighbourhoods of Bedou and al-Sukhani on Monday.
Meanwhile, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) put Monday's death toll at 42, including 19 children and 12 women, and said 27 were killed on Sunday - a two-day total of 69 people.

The last two days are just the peak of what was already a really bad week.

More than 170 civilians have been killed by U.S.-led strikes on Islamic State in Raqqa city in the past week, a spike in casualties since an offensive to oust the militants began more than two months ago, a war monitor and sources said.

Things were bad enough under Obama, but then Trump loosened the rules further.
We killed so many civilians in the recent the Battle of Mosul, that some are talking about war crimes.

Yet Americans will still wonder "why they hate us?" It must be because of our freedom. Yeh, that's the ticket.

worked on this . Rand Paul? Not many though.

From last year: http://www.salon.com/2016/03/17/look_like_war_crimes_to_me_congressman_r...

Defense Secretary Carter has acknowledged that the U.S. is arming and resupplying the Saudi-led coalition. The Pentagon has also revealed that it is providing the coalition with intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and logistics information.

Moreover, media reports have exposed that American military officials are physically in the command room with Saudi bombers, and have access to a list of targets.

Rep. Lieu, who served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and attended Air War College, wrote in the letter that the “apparent indiscriminate airstrikes on civilian targets in Yemen seem to suggest that either the coalition is grossly negligent in its targeting or is intentionally targeting innocent civilians.”

The congressman called on the Departments of State and Defense to “provide an assessment as to whether the indiscriminate nature of the coalition’s operations and the targeting of civilians have significantly changed since October 2015.”

This is not the first letter Rep. Lieu has written about the war. It cites an additional letter he sent to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford, in September 2015, expressing concerns about the heavy civilian toll of coalition airstrikes.

A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

@LaFeminista They'll make noises as if they do, but in no time flat they'll be back to their wrestling matches, beer and potato chips, and scarcely remember that anyone died. They certainly won't demand that the wars stop.

If the beer stopped, now that would be perceived as a catastrophe.

Dear Dems: You lost the WH, Senate, House, dozens of governors, state level SOS and AG and about 1,000 state legislative seats. Maybe...you're doing something wrong.

@coloradoblue
We are also good at locking up people for very long periods of time for petty crimes.

When it comes to inflicting suffering on poor people, we excel.

Add to the killing of civilians through indiscriminate bombing the policy of assasination.

Look back at the 'Collateral Murder' video. You clearly hear the war crime perpetrators justify the slaughter of the helpful, unarmed citizen with the van containing children, paraphrased, "Well, shouldn't have kids in a war zone."

Then, that 'scumbag' Manning was charged and convicted of a crime, rather than the ruthless killers and international criminals (by definition of violating international law).

In a deft move, while the government's hated villain was behind bars, the murderous State shows its 'benevolence,' by allowing a gender change operation, in accordance with the all-important and superseding priority of identity politics; "See? We cater to this very important and vital matter of gender identity!"

Never mind the actual, horrific crimes, whereby the whistleblower was criminally charged, in lieu of the truly dastard criminals of that episode. This now allows all to be forgiven/forgotten because the State got the 'important' element 'correct' by allowing Manning the crucial gender change while rotting in prison for exposing a crime. Thus, the prevailing attitude of our State, and through indirection and fleeting attention of the populace, can persist..."stupid people having kids in a war zone...it's their own fault." Of course, never mind those people live there and didn't really have a choice that the U.S. arbitrarily decided to plop down in their far-away city and make it a war zone, through no choice/fault of the residents.

@ChezJfrey @ChezJfrey How about the clip in 'American Bird' (Docu. PBS and other places) Where they justify killing 10-12 year olds. 'Well if they are old enough to hold a weapon...fair game'.
Sickening!

I want a Pony!

I suppose if the kids killed aren't 'beautiful' babies, they just don't matter...

Life is not a 'Virtual Reality' video game and neither should be death regarded as a casual score. Anyone capable of regarding this sort of routine massacre of civilians as 'collateral damage' to be disregarded and continued in the attacks on/invasion of other people's countries for the theft of their resources should be kept isolated, where they pose no hazard to others. Glad that I left reading this until after eating, but wish I'd digested longer, too...

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
