Sorry for the inaccurate headline. Turkish thugs were allowed to beat Americans with impunity last week. Two members of Erdogan’s security detail were briefly detained after the incident and released without charge. No one was expelled. They got off scot-free. The Turkish objection is that … American cops didn’t stand aside and let the beating go on.

Their “interest” was beating Americans engaged in something they have the constitutional right to do. If the White House doesn’t respond to this, such as by recalling the ambassador, they’re effectively conceding that the Turkish position is a defensible one.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. That has never worked.
Well, maybe the Kurds are the new Turkish Jews? Seemed to have gotten a pass with the Armenians? Why not go for it again? Exterminate?
Sorry the "coup" didn't work. The world will be further distablized by nut jobs like Erdogan, an Islamist in sheep's clothing.

Why isn't EVERYBODY making a big deal on this?
The America of my youth (1960s - 1970s) would have demanded and obtained a full restoration of the East Roman Empire for doing that to Americans in their own country.
It seems we're only peaceful when it's not in the interests of ordinary people for us to be so!
