A Trip Through Fox News Land

On occasion, I have noted that it is necessary to go to more conservative news sources to find information that cannot be found in so-called liberal media. Not covering a story shows more bias than the use of slanted language. Not providing people with all the information they need is one key way to make sure that people cannot make truly informed decisions and controls the way people think about topics.

There are a couple of points that I would like to make before I continue with what I found at conservative sites. The first is that many of us have come to believe that we can find everything on the Internet. This is a false assumption. There is a lot of information that we are not privy to for one reason or another. There is even more "hidden" information that can only be found by the most dogged researcher. The US government hides information regularly even when they are trying to make it look like they are being transparent.

Point 2: Even when a story is available and seems balanced, there can be important facts left out. A case in pint would be fact checkers. These purport to "tell the truth and nothing but the truth," but they do so only from a bias that proves what they want to prove. They often do this by leaving out anything that would harm their purpose or adding in irrelevant facts that they then make fit their narrative.

Point 3: both liberal and conservative sources use disinformation, misinformation and lack of information to sway their audiences. Both often count on the lack of critical thinking on the part of their readers/viewers. Both lack an openness to other views. Both have their "heroes" of reasoned judgement. If we swallow the idea that our side is always correct, then we have quit learning, thinking and participating in this human experience.

What to do?
A. Treat everything you read and hear as opinion, not fact. That includes anything I have to say. = )
B. Learn to think in shades of gray. (No one is 100% right/wrong 100% of the time.)
C. Temper all opinions with the idea that until further information is known, you, I or anyone can be wrong, and at some point will be.
D. If an opinion makes you angry, put it aside for a moment and come back to it when you can honestly answer why it made you angry.

(Note: The above is not a multiple-guess question.)

Pleasantry

The first story is an old one but relates to something that many people are just now beginning to understand.

Rupert Murdoch, Hillary Clinton and the politics of 2016

Some folks may be surprised by an interview in which Rupert Murdoch declares: "I could live with Hillary as president."

Yes, he added, "We have to live with who we get. We don't have any choice." But when asked by Fortune magazine whether he could envision himself supporting Hillary Clinton, Murdoch did not laugh off the suggestion: "It would depend on the Republican candidate totally."

The U.S. Banks Fighting Brexit

Sounds like coercion to me:

With the historic 'Brexit' vote looming, many in the financial world are anticipating how this will impact the global financial system. Several U.S. banks are concerned about the effects of a Brexit and have warned of layoffs in their European offices.

Rights groups silent as Clinton Foundation takes millions from countries that imprison gays

The Clinton Foundation has accepted millions from Middle Eastern and other foreign governments that criminalize homosexuality – but prominent gay rights groups in America have stayed silent on the apparent disconnect between Hillary Clinton’s rhetoric and the donations.

Noted later in the article is that gay rights groups threatened to pull their endorsements after HRC's Reagan/AIDS comment, but say nothing about her accepting donations from the list of countries (included in the article) that imprison and kill gays.

The Immaturity of Supporting Hillary Clinton as a Woman

While a bit lopsided, this article offers some good insights:

Offering Clinton to one's daughter as a model to aspire to -- given the former secretary of state's long history of lying and recent history of selling the power of her office to enrich herself and her husband -- is telling one's daughter that gender trumps decency. As such, it speaks volumes about how insignificant character is to Clinton supporters.

In addition, putting aside the immorality and immaturity of gender solidarity, having a female president would be as useless to women as having a black president was to blacks.

The Insidious Power of the Media Disinformation Campaign for Hillary Clinton

If the right can recognize it, why can't the left?

A recent survey found that not a single member of the White House correspondent pool was a Republican. Journalists and those correspondents take their orders from senior editors and producers. When it’s 44-to-zero Republicans, the numbers are on their side and so is their ability to control and dictate the White House message and Democrat party narrative. Today, no news or story from the mainstream media can ever be trusted or considered, in the immortal words of Sergeant Joe Friday, “Just the truth, ma’am.”

Edited to add a link to the poll story which is not in the above story: It is in an InfoGraphic about mid-page in The Selling of Obama.

Watch What Happens When a Black Lives Matter Activist Confronts a 16-Year-Old Black Trump Supporter

The video (below) from the article has so much going on that it crossed my mind that it could have been staged. I have not made up my mind yet. The young man is very articulate while the guy wearing a BLM shirt is not.

One more interesting video (after you get past the initial nobody listening to anyone), especially around 8:45 when one protester asks regarding foreign policy "Name me one other politician who has advocated for killing a child?" The answer is HRC (Send them back as a message), but I doubt he would like that one.

Tip for people on a budget:

Coffee grounds can be used more than once. Day 1 uses the regular amount of coffee. Day 2 just add two tablespoons (or about half of what you usually use for Day 1) of coffee to the used grounds and add usual amount of water or a little less to the pot. Day 3, your choice...two more tablespoons or back to Day 1 with fresh grounds. Used coffee grounds can also be used as a low-abrasive cleaner.
