Shrub Speaks -- and Writes, Too

Bush Criticizes GOP Isolationism, Anti-Immigration Rhetoric
.

WASHINGTON (AP) — George W. Bush says the Republican Party he served as president has become “isolationist, protectionist and, to a certain extent, nativist” and says he’s especially concerned about anti-immigration rhetoric.

“It's a beautiful country we have and yet it's not beautiful when we condemn, call people names and scare people about immigration,” Bush told NBC's “Today” show on Tuesday.

Bush, who was in New York to preside over a naturalization ceremony, said his new book, “Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants,” aims to ”elevate the discourse."

.
The discourse being elevated by George W. Bush was the actions of the George W. Bush Administration.

Fact sheet President Bush Signs Secure Fence Act

Fact sheet In Focus: Homeland Security
"This bill will help protect the American people. This bill will make our borders more secure. It is an important step toward immigration reform."

- President George W. Bush, 10/26/06

Today, President Bush Signed The Secure Fence Act - An Important Step Forward In Our Nation's Efforts To Control Our Borders And Reform Our Immigration System. Earlier this year, the President laid out a strategy for comprehensive immigration reform. The Secure Fence Act is one part of this reform, and the President will work with Congress to finish the job and pass the remaining elements of this strategy.

The Secure Fence Act Builds On Progress Securing The Border

By Making Wise Use Of Physical Barriers And Deploying 21st Century Technology, We Can Help Our Border Patrol Agents Do Their Job And Make Our Border More Secure. The Secure Fence Act:

Authorizes the construction of hundreds of miles of additional fencing along our Southern border;
Authorizes more vehicle barriers, checkpoints, and lighting to help prevent people from entering our country illegally;
Authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to increase the use of advanced technology like cameras, satellites, and unmanned aerial vehicles to reinforce our infrastructure at the border

.

Shrub had the unenviable distinction of being the last Republican President. He could not win the big victories of Nixon and Reagan because demographics had changed the country and the Nativists who voted Republican could no longer dominate our politics.

Donald Trump buried forever the Bush Brand Name in 2016 -- because he promised to do the shit that Bush promised but backed off for the obvious reason that open borders are inherent to the globalized economy that Reagan and the Bushes enabled.

The Angry White Males cannot deliver enough votes to win the Presidency but they still control the majority of state governments and still pretty much control the Senate through the efforts of "Centrist Democrats."

Bush writing a book about anything is hysterically funny.

Bush writing a book that is on the schmaltz level of It Takes A Village is irony perfection. His rehabilitation is complete, and he is now the Mascot of the Obama Family Cult.

@humphrey

W's recent comment on his friendship with Michelle Obama "The American people were so surprised that Michelle Obama and I could be friends. I think it's a problem that Americans are so polarized in their thinking that they can't imagine a George W. Bush and a Michelle Obama being friends," he said.

"Our values are the same," Michelle Obama said. "We disagree on policy but we don’t disagree on humanity. We don’t disagree about love and compassion. I think that’s true for all of us."

This is because the man is a pea brain who is as tone deaf as Hillary Clinton. But its also quite disconcerting that Michelle Obama said that they share some values. Her husband tried (admittedly feebly) to close the monstrosity of Guantanamo Bay, which W created. No mention of that. W lied repeatedly to the American people and initiated the era of US imperialism run amok. Does Michelle also share that "value"? She sees W as a man of love and compassion? What the hell is wrong with her? Love that middle photo... how many people do you know kiss a man's wife while shaking his hand?

This rehab of W campaign is an illness.
