Expressing something as "I have a problem with..." versus "Do this or I will call the cops on you..." will lead to very, very different discussions.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

in prison who don't bother to tell jokes anymore, they just yell out the number that's been assigned to every joke, since they've all been told so many times.
i've often thought it would be nice to have a blog that functioned this way. someone writes, "Israel is the rightful homeland of the Jews. After all, everybody else has a homeland, so the Jews deserve one too," and then the next person just posts a link to the canonical thread in which the partisans talk past each other about the merits or not of Zionism, and nobody else pays any attention.
