Russia Caught Red-Handed Election Funding

Yesterday's BuzzFeed article titled "Secret Finding: 60 Russian Payments To Finance Election Campaign Of 2016" alerted us to the latest Russian election shenanigans uncovered by the FBI. It seems that Russia was caught red-handed channeling funds to its embassies around the world last year.

Unfortunately for the FBI and BuzzFeed, the funds were to support Russian elections scheduled for September 18, 2016. The money paid for voting equipment for Russians living and stationed abroad so they could participate in the election. I would ask "have they no shame?" but the answer is self-evident.

On Aug. 3 of last year, just as the US presidential election was entering its final, heated phase, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent nearly $30,000 to its embassy in Washington. The wire transfer, which came from a Kremlin-backed Russian bank, landed in one of the embassy’s Citibank accounts and contained a remarkable memo line: “to finance election campaign of 2016.”

That wire transfer is one of more than 60 now being scrutinized by the FBI and other federal agencies investigating Russian involvement in the US election. The transactions, which moved through Citibank accounts and totaled more than $380,000, each came from the Russian Foreign Ministry and most contained a memo line referencing the financing of the 2016 election.

The money wound up at Russian embassies in almost 60 countries from Afghanistan to Nigeria between Aug. 3 and Sept. 20, 2016. It is not clear how the funds were used. At least one transaction that came into the US originated with VTB Bank, a financial institution that is majority-owned by the Kremlin.

incredibly miniscule dollar amounts. I mean $380K is going to actually swing an "election" in the US? REALLY? Of course it was for their own election, but that's not the right narrative so a new bright shiny lie must be found that will finally do the job and war can be formally declared. If there is anyone left to write this piece of history it will be pure black comedy gold. Hell, platinum and diamonds, surpassing mere gold.

@lizzyh7 oooh this is driving me nuts. Said it before, but if I can buy a US presidential election for $100-500k, believe me, I will have those funds by 2019. Why do people with two brain cells to rub together but this?

…and footnotes to help clueless US bureaucrats get up to speed in the spy biz. I thought the memo, "to finance election campaign of 2016” added a nice touch to those checks.

I was going to post about this earlier but got interrupted. Glad I checked the essay list.

WORST attempt at gaslighting in all recorded history. Amateurish and crude. And it’s been noticed far and wide.

Despite garnering much traction online, the “secret” money might not be as explosive a story as initially thought. LA Times writer Adam H Johnson claimed BuzzFeed’s reporting style for the story was “cynical as sh*t.”

“A qualifier buried in paragraph seven 100% undermines the sensationalist headline,” he said.

He added: “At the very least if you’re going to run a thin FBI press release that buries exculpatory details… tells your editors to not oversell the sh*t out of it.”

I’m practicing. It’s the least us dirty pinko commie RUSSIAn! duped can do, learn to speak in our language.

@gjohnsit That's overpriced if they paid 30K for it.

To paraphrase the movie Slapshot:

DNC: "So, you're gonna crack my head for 30K dollars?"
Me: "I wouldn't crack your knuckles for 30K dollars."
DNC: "So nobody's coming for me?"
Me: "Somebody's gonna get you, you dumb son of a bitch, but it ain't gonna be me."

simply moved on without reading, assuming that it was for some sort of Russian election. The incessant propaganda barrage has greatly increased the speed with which I go through the "news" each day.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

So I looked up elections in Nigeria which was mentioned, and they had their general elections last year. Hmmm... I figure the complete list was not published as it would contain countries which had no elections or don't hold elections. Was China on the list?

I saw an article on TOP and read the reaction. Some interesting. A few asked if the Russians are that stupid to label the money that way. Of course ridiculous conclusions like the Russians wanted the US to find they were messing with elections. And then some others that were in "did the Russians fund Bernie"? I am afraid this is going to be a growing meme among the faithful.

@MrWebster
The way they can make excuses for everything the Clintons do strikes me a complete inability to deal with reality.

Trump colluded with the Russians to influence the election but the Clinton Creature didn’t? If anything, looking at this situation from a proof-wise point of view, what I see is unverifiable gossip and innuendo against the Orange National Embarrassment but an admission by Fusion GPS that the exchange of money for services rendered DID occur and was paid for by the Clinton Creature’s campaign, Obama, and ALMOST THE FBI. But she did nothing wrong.

And the icing in the cake? The proof she rigged the primary. That’s not a problem either.

How the hell does that make sense?

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
