RIP Mose Allison, Middle Class White Boy
Jazz-blues singer and pianist Mose Allison died yesterday. He was an influence to the likes of Pete Townshend, John Mayall, Leon Russell (who himself died just a few days ago), and Bonnie Raitt. I'll miss him, and I hope to introduce you to some of his better works so that you might miss him as well.
Mose Allison first caught my ear with a little tune called "Your Mind Is On Vacation" back in the mid 1970s. His piano stylings are a quirky jazz-blues. But he could write some sharp lyrics, such as he does in the aforementioned tune, which I present here in honor of Hillary and her mindless-yet-vocal minions:

Allison had a lot to say about politics in his songs. I include this one because it seems to fit the Republicans of the current day:

Considering some of the things Donald Trump has threatened to do, this song of Allison's is an especially pertinent warning:

Lastly, as his epitaph, I'd like to dedicate this to those protesting the victory of Donald Trump in the streets. Nothing else to me seems to fit:

Another one of my favorite musicians...gone. Damn!
Mose had such a distinct style! (Can't tell you how many times in my life, when I've been pissed-off at someone, that I've told them: "Your mind's on vacation, but your mouth's working overtime." But, it was more than once!)

Thanks for the remembrance.
I have to add my favorite singer's cover, Bonnie at the Beacon just last April:

(A little over 40 years ago, I saw some folks at the Beacon including Yes and Loggins & Messina. Around the same time, I saw Bonnie and Freebo several times at Sanders Theatre.
