The Ridiculous and The Sublime
Last week I prepared for (one day) and executed (≈ three days) a one man driving expedition to Oregon. Following an arduous route through the Great American Desert, the first day I journeyed from Kearney, NE to Little America, WY. I traversed the much less daunting segment of my chosen route the second day to arrive safely in Susanville, CA. The final interval allowed me to arrive at Medford, OR in high spirits, Looking For Adventure . . .

The first two days were tedious in the extreme as most drivers were hellbent on getting from origin to terminus with little interest in the intervening TimeSpace.
The final half-day was exhilarating as most drivers were Driving in The Moment, savoring the many awesome events filling the TimeSpace from beginning to end.
I wish more people could enjoy the journey. Remember: Life is only a journey that has but one goal, Death. So, if you do not enjoy the journey . . .
While traveling great distances in the western states I often drive through construction zones where contracting crews are repairing and upgrading the highway pavement. Not so in Weed, CA. In Weed, CA the contracting crews are engaged in Pavement Rehabilitation ! Yep, if you don't believe me take a trip and see for yourself. It will be well worth your time.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Hot Asphalt Repaving is the only type I've witnessed
Unless I'm misunderstanding http://www.pavementinteractive.org/article/hot-in-place-recycling/
I suppose both Hot Repaving and Cold Repaving require a hot roller, so maybe I've been confusing the two for years. It still makes me smile when a rough road turns into a smooth road while I wait.
best, john
Strange that a harp of thousand strings should keep in tune so long
Me Too . . .
But only in Northern California do we prescribe Rehab for our ailing roads. I have never seen the "Pavement Rehabilitation" phrase in all of my travels over the years in the West.
