PBS Newshour hit it out of the park

I saw this clip live on PBS and had to find and post it here.

I am NOT a essay writer. Some have recently posted excellent and well written 0nes (for which we all are grateful). I just couldn't post this to the middle of an open thread. It needs more.

The thrust of the Dems and the #resistance movement seems clear - Hate the haters.
Lets not fall into that trap. Force the conversation to the issues not whack job personalities.

There is a great need right now to counter this growing hate with demonstrations such as this persons love and basic humanity.

Let's hold this in our hearts and starkly expose the haters by the humanity of our actions daily both individually and collectively.

What a daunting task he works with...
I could not imagine knowingly taking on the task of raising a terminally ill child...

I'm sure Allah has blessings in store for him...
A Trump Free afterlife for sure...

Thank you for posting this. I had not seen it. It is beautiful.

When I was in grad school I had an accident and had some trouble getting around for a while. It was two Muslim guys who went out of their ways to help me. They told me that Islam requires giving assistance to people who are poor, ill or injured. The said that when they helped me carry things it was a blessing on them.

Some of the nice Christian students saw my problems as a competitive advantage for themselves. The demonization of Muslims in this country has got to stop.

PS Thanks for using your avatar. We must not forget that little girl. All the insane 'police actions' (or whatever they are calling them this year) have got to stop.

The earth is a multibillion-year-old sphere.
The Nazis killed millions of Jews.
On 9/11/01 a Boeing 757 (AA77) flew into the Pentagon.
AGCC is happening.
If you cannot accept these facts, I cannot fake an interest in any of your opinions.

Makes me wonder how different of a world we could have if this kind of story was a staple with MSM.

Just contrast this deeply moving segment with the absolutely wasteful, tawdry, sensationalist garbage pumped 24/7 on MSNBC, CNN, and Fox. They just keep the lemmings in thrall to endless manufactured controversy, purposeful distraction and celebrity gossip, because like CBS CEO Les Moongaves said about Trump, which in effect is non-stop car crash coverage of reality tv show goon/dumbed-down moronic narcissist/cheesy carnival barker, that was something that "may not be good for America, but it's good for us."

And see the power of a positive reporting (probably some beforehand that led to this PBS piece)? He was able to be the beneficiary of some kind and moved soul who though that such a deeply selfless, loving and uncommonly compassionate man really deserves to be funded in a way that befits one so rare and unassuming.

Again, capitalism, i.e. the drive for profit, is here in the driver's seat again. There's money in a complete scumbag megalomaniac, but not in a story that could move even the most hardened heart, reminding people of the universality of the human experience.

Having thought about this predicament of lowest common denominator media, I believe, that just as there is a "market" for a progressive talk show and news program like The Jimmy Dore Show, On Contact with Chris Hedges, Redacted Tonight with Lee Camp, TYT, Democracy Now, The Real News, etc, which are beginning to get more of a foothold with viewers, there is also room for success with a dedicated channel that features stories like these.

We should support him, and others in their effort to bring loving kindness and gentle support to those in need.

Thank you very much for this.
