Obama Explains why it's Important That Young People Vote

Some replies.

Why? Bc after 8 years of you as POTUS the illusion that we have any say at all has been destroyed,

You did this, w/your subservience to money,to #WallStreet; w/your #Corruption,#Wars & millions of deaths that enroched you & your paymasters.

I'm guessing it's frustrating to participate in a rigged system where 2 parties provide empty politicians, spouting empty promises, in order to make sure nothing ever changes. For a representative Gov, few represent the people.

I say to you in return Obama, remember all those promises you made in 2008 and then crapped on your voters? Maybe thats why people dont vote! Because Republicans freely do as they please and Dems sit there and cower in fear that they might poll bad or upset a donor.

Young people voted for you and you did this-->
"The U.S. was pumping just 5.1 million barrels per day when Obama took office...Fast forward to [2016] and the U.S. produced 8.9 million barrels per day....in 2015, the U.S. pumped the most oil in 43 years."

At face value, he's right. But he is the poster boy of someone who doesn't fight for the people who voted for him.

I won't be complicit in the lesser evil's destruction of the world
I'll vote
Not for your kind

This from the guy that promised hope and change and delivered by bombing innocent children in 7 countries and bailing out the banks. Young people aren't voting because of liars like you
@BarackObama

Thank you... this is where the establishment Dems get tone deaf. In my generation, we were told our votes don’t matter... they’re doing the same with this generation. You want them to vote? Stop rigging shit and let people win or lose fair and square.

Someone please tell him that young voters voted for Bernie in 2016, but the superdelegates stole their votes.

A few didn't make sense to me..you?

He's correlating how we wouldn't allow our grandparents to dictate our clothes to mean that young people should choose the path of our Nation. Sorry, the reality is that most college students haven't left their home state and have no business determining our path. #pandering.

Obama do the same thing that I asked cory & then everything and get back on the right track and I can start fixing everything properly please...

I need to make peace with everyone and on Trumps side everyone who likes me does and who doesn't never will...

Because grandma and grandma gave us a choice between Lawrence Welk and Ed Sullivan.

Because neither grandma nor grandpa offered candidates that would address climate change, student debt, health care or any other issue we care about.

I love that people are calling him out.

Gah, what an obnoxious way to encourage people to vote: 'You would not let your grandfather or grandmother decide what clothes you wear or what music you listen to, so why would you let them decide the world you're going to live in?"

Yeah... Voting should be about making things better for today AND tomorrow. What outfit I wear today or music I listen to today doesn't make or break life, and definitely doesn't fuck other people over for generations. Barack Obama sailed into the presidency promising to fix all the shit someone's grandmas and grandpas voted for! And I bet a lot of poor brown children didn't let meemaw and pepaw decide that their country should get bombed into oblivion.

My apologies if my irritation has made me incoherent. I wish there was some spray that would wilt this douchebag into silent irrelevance.

@Le Frog

I like the idea of some type of spray to make him make him silent. Before you start blaming people for not voting you should ask why they aren't first. I've seen some people that blamed the voters for the democrats losing congress during Obama's tenure, but after they bailed out the banks, surged in Afghanistan, passed the hideously flawed ACA and....... people didn't really see a reason to. Rant away.

@snoopydawg

Blaming voters is some next-level bullshit. Where the hell were the Democrats with a fifty state plan then? I'm not sure if I can articulate this well, but sometimes I wonder if Republicans ever feel disappointed with their own legislators like Democratic voters are. Like, are Ted Cruz voters ever annoyed with him for lying or flip-flopping or siding with Democrats? I get that there are a lot of people who don't think Ted Cruz is right-wing enough, but on ideology, if I vote for Ted Cruz, I trust that what I see is what I get. If I can summarize: both parties' voters are fed up with the corruption, but Dem voters get to watch their legislators fold to the GOP more often than not.

@Le Frog

Why did it just disappear after Obama won in 2008? Remember what else happened after that? Democrats lost close to 1,000 seats in states across the country which had bad efforts for people living in them. Of course the Koch brothers and their organizations didn't just fold their tents and go home. Oh no. They worked extra hard to get their people in place.

The other thing that happened was that democrats let McConnell run all over them and Obama's agenda. Republicans seem to be the only party that can filibuster democrat's legislation and place secret holds to stop them from doing anything. McConnell also refused to appoint Obama's picks for the federal courts which positions are now being filed by extremist judges many who aren't qualified. And guess who is helping them do this? Schumer has made many deals with Mitch to let him put up to 15 on them without any holdup. If that's not enough we have DiFi, Manchin and other democrats voting for them. And look at how many of Trump's appointees were voted for by democrats. Democrats let Mitch hold open the Supreme Court vacancy and now we have a right wing court in place for decades that will uphold laws that the lower courts decide.

The remaking of the country is almost complete. The courts are striking down lots of older democrat legislation like worker's rights. The Kochs have their people in place. Regulations are being gutted. Congress cut taxes on the rich bigly which has caused $6 billion less going to the government in 4 months.

Rents are skyrocketing because banks and hedge funds bought them for pennies on the dollar and the millennials are under mountains of debt from their student loans that they can't afford to buy them. On top of this we have another recession building and to top that off the Midwest is under water which means that farmers can't plant their crops which will see food prices rise, millions of cattle have been killed, Trump's tariffs and trade wars and sanctions on Iran's and Venezuela's oil is causing gas prices to rise.

Millions are homeless and that number is rising because people are going bankrupt because we have an insane private insurance health care scam.....

So back to your question about the 50 state plan to get people to vote for democrats I'm thinking this is why it was chucked.

BTW. I was going to essay the floods in Nebraska, but I'll just let people read the article. I'm not sure about this website though, but then how many ways are there to write about flooding? I really thought I'd be older when the poo hit the overhead blades, but here we are. This really is bad.

I said it yesterday, and I will say it again. This is the worst blow to U.S. agriculture that I have seen in my entire lifetime.

The amount of food that has just been lost is absolutely staggering. Due to the trade war, farmers were storing more wheat, corn and soybeans than ever before, and now the floodwaters have destroyed much of what had been stored…

As prices plummeted last year amid the ongoing trade fight, growers, faced with selling crops at a loss, stuffed a historic volume of grain into winding plastic tubes and steel bins. Some cash-strapped families piled crops inside their barns or outside on the ground.

Farmers say they are now finding storage bags torn and bins burst open, grain washed away or contaminated. Jeff Jorgenson, a farmer and regional director for the Iowa Soybean Association, said he has seen at least a dozen bins that burst after grains swelled when they became wet.

In just one county in Iowa, 1.8 million bushels of corn and soybeans have already been destroyed. Nationwide, the losses are off the charts.

Needless to say, prices will be going way up at the grocery store, and they will keep going up for the rest of the year.

Sadly, even after the flood waters are gone the damage that has been done to our agricultural infrastructure will take years to repair…

Oh yeah. I like this article on how the "left" has embraced the intelligence agencies after they have spent decades screwing them.

Victims of FBI Subversion Now Embrace America’s Secret Police

It seemed like I’d entered a new dimension deep within Bizarro world labyrinth when Democrats suddenly became defenders of the agency. Liberals and leftists, especially those in the civil rights movement and actively opposed to the Vietnam War, were targeted by the FBI and its Operation COINTELPRO in the 1960s and 70s. Many of those targeted activists ended up in government and the ivory towers of academia.

Likewise the Grand Inquisitor, Robert Muller. He was FBI boss during the Bush and Obama administrations. He is a consummate insider. His mission as special prosecutor is to protect the establishment, the so-called Deep State.

I can only conclude Democrats are either 1) suffering from a special kind of amnesia, or 2) they’re so ethically and morally bankrupt they will buddy up with an agency that seriously violated their rights in order accomplish the current objective: the impeachment and total destruction of Donald Trump.

Well there you go. 3 essays in one. It's time for ice cream.

Knocked teachers. Knocked young people. Knocked "professional leftists". Knocked black people. But thought bankster CEOs who needed billions in bail out money were "Savvy businessmen".

Off hand, I can't remember Bush punching at parts of the gop base.

@MrWebster of neoliberals like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

I was a big Obama supporter in 2008. Now the very sight of the arrogant SOB angers me to no end. He destroyed the hopes and dreams of millions, including those of his strongest supporters. And yet he has zero regrets. After all, he is millions richer leaving the White House than when he entered it.

Obama needs to shut his mouth and disappear forever. His words are empty, just as his soul is.

@gulfgal98

This pretty much sums up Obama's presidency don't you think?

For Obama, “We have to be careful in balancing big dreams and bold ideas with also recognizing that typically change happens in steps.” But incrementalism during the Obama years was small steps to nowhere, ones that far from cementing a new progressive majority actually helped open the door to the populist right.

I love what someone posted here about how he approached bipartisanship with the republicans.

If Obama was playing strip poker with the republicans he would come to the game with his shirt already off.

after he told them to quityourbitchin. "You guys don't know how easy you got it. Why when I was your age after I walked uphill to come and go from school in the winter when snow was over my head and having to crawl under trains so I wouldn't be late after getting up at O dawn thirty to do my chores which included milking Betsy and cleaning her stall and collecting the eggs ma cooked for breakfast and then running down to the crick to get water so I could do the dishes... umm what was my point? Oh yeah, you guys don't know how good you got it." Quityourbitchin!"
Obama and Biden weren't the only ones that insulted the base. Don't forget Hillary calling half the country deplorables. Good grief. What was she thinking that would accomplish?
