Kellogg's workers win!

Another victory for labor.

Kellogg’s workers voted to ratify a new contract with the company, their union announced Tuesday, bringing an end to an 11-week strike that captured the nation’s attention.

The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) said that its 1,400 Kellogg’s members backed the cereal maker’s most recent five-year contract offer that boosts pensions, maintains regular raises, ends the permanent two-tier pay structure and prevents plants from being shut down through October 2026.

“Our entire Union commends and thanks Kellogg’s members,” BCTGM International President Anthony Shelton said in a statement. “From picket line to picket line, Kellogg’s union members stood strong and undeterred in this fight, inspiring generations of workers across the globe, who were energized by their tremendous show of bravery as they stood up to fight and never once backed down.”

Or to put this another way.

The union said the highlights of the new agreement included no permanent two-tier system, in which lower-tier workers make less than longer-tenured workers.

"This agreement makes gains and does not include any concessions," said Anthony Shelton, president of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union.

@NYCVG
including crashing their web server set up to hire scabs, had a bigger effect.

@gjohnsit and hiring scabs instead surely was the driving facor.

Maybe my Bernie comment needs a \s tag.

I meant it semi-seriously, but IDK.......

Kellog's recently removed their name from pop tarts. People thanked them for telling them that on the Twit because it reminded people to stop buying them. Oops huh?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg When PopTarts were introduced I tried one. Enough to turn me off them forever. Decades later my Sis mentioned how much she liked them. I thought she was joking. Apparently I made the mistake of toasting the damn thing. Still wasn't inclined to give them a second try.

As reportedly many prepared/frozen pastries are. On the down side, my food budget has never been large enough to indulge in those products. On the plus side, it limited the number of extra pounds I've carried around.

Unless they have lots of stuff on top. I just remembered that I have some in the cupboard that have been there for years. But I thought you were supposed to toast them? The original ones anyway? But they aren’t very nutritious any way you eat them.

@snoopydawg for a sweet snack. Nor have I checked out my Sis' claim that they're really good if NOT toasted. She recently reminded me that the difference between emerged early in how we spent out chump change. As she told it, I would buy an itty bitty Heath Bar for ten cents and she would buy the biggest five cent candy bar and five cents on penny candies. Perplexed, I pointed out that what she bought didn't taste that good, and her response was, "But I got a lot of it."

A question for you, did/do you have comfort music for your puppy/dog?

@Marie

Careful you are dating yourself. My

No I’ve never had a dawg that had separation anxiety, but then I’ve always had 2 dawgs except for the 1st one way back in 1981 and I don’t think anyone knew about that then. Oh yeah, but she got a friend soon after I got her when my roommate got her puppy. So each puppy had an older dawg to help them not feel alone. And I am home most of the time now so Sam is rarely alone. She was 6 months before she had to stay home in the summer if I had to go places and she couldn’t wait in the car.

Do you have a puppy who is having problems? First off yay and what kind? 2nd there are natural treatments for it like Rescue and CBD or comfort vests. They swaddle the dawg and I think like a hug or your favorite comforter. I’ve only had to cage one dawg while I worked and that was Abby who went through a lab's terrible twosome and ate the window panes and my antique desk feet and….but it broke my heart to do it. After I had to leave working and I was home she got better. Lots of people use music or TV but I haven’t.

@snoopydawg
Boston Terrier. Now six months old. Susie, the owner, mentioned the other day that when he was tiny, she felt he needed a lullaby to go to sleep. Problem was that she didn't know any lullabies. She found that Tracy Chapman worked. So, with his ear near her phone, that's what lulls him to sleep.

The next day (for reasons I don't even understand, the puppy has been and is with me when Susie's at work), I thought to try it out. Only I didn't know what song. So, we heard a lot of Tracy Chapman (renewed my appreciation for her music), but I couldn't detect any preference for a particular song. He doesn't sleep that much during the day and has no trouble sleeping when I hold him. (He's outgrown my lap but doesn't mind scrunching up to be held.) He's naturally a people dog, but may have been so spoiled that he'll never develop much tolerance for being alone.
