I used to be Angie in WA State at DKos

Hi everyone,

Can't believe Daily Kos has become MODERATE CENTRIST Central.

kos can tell us we're stuck with Hillary all he wants to, but I'm in it for the long haul.

Until the day the Delegate Math equals NO CHANCE for Bernie Sanders to win the nomination of the Democratic Party.

Until then?

I do know your screen name from dKos . . . although we didn't really "know" each other. it's always fun to know who people are, when they've changed their handles.

Glad to see you here, and hope you enjoy it. Course, we're not ALL about Bernie here, despite some misinformation being spread about by certain other sites will have you believe.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

Hi --

I've got a volunteer project up right now, gathering signatures of registered voters in lieu of paying the $1,740 state filing fee to get on the ballot for the primary. I have to submit at least 1.740 good signatures by May 20th.

If you are ready to come walk n knock and ask for signatures or stand outside a large grocery store like Winco Foods or Costco to do so OR you know some registered voters this side of the Columbia and need a lift to where they are? I can make arrangements to get you over the Columbia and back again next week.

You can send me a text message to my cell (360) 513-1549 -- just send your DK UID and your real name in a text and then when or if you call, I'll know who it is.

Thanks so much,

angie

Great thing about this site is you can edit your posts, so if you don't want it floating around, feel free to remove it from your post. Will probably text you next week, since I have to get to the store for more minutes.

Look forward to helping out!

It is great to hear you talk about the nuts and bolts of running, yard signs, collecting signatures to avoid paying the filing fees. Keep going that, I just donated $20, and this gives me a nice image of what my dollars are supporting. Thank you. This is not the just the next step of the Revolution, as many smugly console while they concurrently try to brainwash us into believing it's over. This, and us and you, and Bernie, we're all in it, and it ain't over, not a bit.

It made me cry a little that you are running, what a relief, you, Kaptur, Canova, wow, I gotta love it, thank you. I hope the group of candidates who now number 41 grows hugely, that will truly be a successful revolution, when we have thousands of people around the country are running for mayor, senator, school board, dog catcher, what have you, who are funded by us, all under the ideological umbrella as articulated by Sanders but sublimated by us. It is an umbrella that once was held by the democratic party, but which it discarded many years ago.

Had meant to donate to your campaign today but got caught up in the fetid cauldron of comments on OPOL's diary instead. Came here to chill, saw your post, and was reminded to make that contribution. Definitely weaning toward non-political diaries only there, if any.

Let's do this thing. Any info on how your campaign's looking?

"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11

Hi 2andfro,

I've been to a Candidate Debate (which I think I won, based on the response of the crowd during and after), and a couple other events both in Klickitat and Clark County. I'm headed to a League of Women Voters event Saturday morning and the coast on Saturday afternoon for the Pacific County Democrat Crab Feed.

On Sunday at 1:00 pm, I just found out today and still have to load onto the campaign calendar, I'll be attending an event somewhere in Clark County with the Sanders campaign and quite likely Bernie will be there!

Fundraising has jumped up from the slow holiday season (Nov to Jan), and I've got a bid for Yard Signs (coming in April and May!).

I have business cards which I am happy to order more for Volunteers to hand out to all of their family and friends and to leave while door knocking.

So, all in all, I believe I'm on target for where I want to be. I'll begin local fundraising this month (on Saturday) and hope to bring in over $3,000 and perhaps as much as $8,000 or more during the next month in a Drawing I'll be holding for a Netroots Nation quilt Sara R and winglion (Sara and Ann Reed, the Caring Quilt sisters) donated to my campaign recently. I'll be posting on social media and everywhere I can for that month long event, so I'm sure you'll see posts about it.

I'll be sending out a Volunteer Call early this coming week, both to those who have already volunteered and to get many more volunteers to come out and help get signatures and discuss my Neighbor to Neighbor canvassing project for the spring and summer.

Thanks for asking!

Being such a red little region. Having participated in the oil train revolt I am convinced there are more dems here than republican but they aren't voting.

up

I am of the same opinion.

This area was reliably Blue up until the Democratic Party went 3rd Way and no matter who was elected, nothing seemed to change. By the mid 2000s, our voter participation is down under 50% in every election. There are a lot of Democrats and Democratic-leaning folks out there but they've been conditioned not to care about voting.

Issues like that proposed oil terminal bring out the response we need on EVERY issue, if we want to get some real change. The response from the audience at the debate and candidate meetings I've been to in Feb & March were an eye-opener. When I went to Klickitat County in Feb, which is about half-way up the Columbia River Gorge, I expected to find a few people who were mostly interested in rural issues. They were - but the one rural issue they cared about was "last mile of service" for broadband internet. The rest of the questions could have been asked at a presidential debate: Syria, should we be intervening there or not? -- Green energy, transporting petroleum & coal via train to terminals, where do you stand? --- Infrastructure and the good paying jobs it will mean, what's your stance? The next biggest shocker was how many folks came, in a county with just over 20,000 people.
By contrast, Clark County has 189K population and their turnout is only about 2 or 3 times that of tiny Klickitat County!

So I know that they are out there, we just need to use new modes of campaigning to win without huge war chests full of Big Money Moolah, and then we'll govern according to what is best for ALL OF THE PEOPLE and not just for the Big Money Moolah folks. THEN the people will notice that things are different. We just need a few of us to get elected the first time this way, and it will cause a stir... which is why 2018 is going to be our Waterloo moment. THIS cycle is for experimenting and finding paths to victory. The next one is to roll out the Sanders Revolution upon the Congress and Statehouses in force, and to seize them in a big enough number of states to change the course of the redistricting of 2020. Which buys a decade to do good and crush what remains of the racist, bigots and hooligans on the Right. For at least 20 to 40 years. So our kids and theirs will have a real chance to find a way to combat the effects of climate change -- so that their grandkids will still have a world that will support our species.

We're discussing a planned twitter avalanche about bernie's policies and we're wondering about what is most important to upcoming states. It's in its infancy, started by ideas from non twitter users, but in case this gets legs.......what do OR voters want to hear about?

I will soon be in Medford, about as far from your part of Washington, unfortunately but such is the way of life and geography. Good luck with the campaign and I will see if I can be of any help in the future. Oh, and by the way (as we all know) not all republicans are crazy, some are even my friends from EOSU, at La Grande.

Happy to be here. I kept my dKos name, not sure why. Hope against hope that we'll get back to the Democratic party of my late father, whose quip is my sig line. ... and by "long haul" I mean something like 1 or 2 decades not a handful of months.

What really drove me away from DKOS wasn't it's centrist leaning but that it's given up on being reality based. Haiti, Honduras, Libya, Cambodia... those are all very real. The TPP is very real. The virtual oligarchy in the US is very real. When it becomes no longer possible to discuss reality on a political discussion site then it's nothing more than kool-aid drinking. GOS has become the Fox News for liberals.
