How To: Generate Fake News In 5 Easy Steps

Fake News.png

1. Create a meme that sounds plausible and has an element of truth to it. Governments hack other governments. We've known that for decades.

American intelligence agencies have told the White House they now have “high confidence” that the Russian government was behind the theft of emails and documents from the Democratic National Committee -- (July 26, 2016) Spy Agency Consensus Grows That Russia Hacked D.N.C.

2. Raise meme to Chicken Little Level -- "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" Move from high confidence that Russia stole emails to certainty that Russia is influencing the election.

The Obama administration on Friday formally accused the Russian government of stealing and disclosing emails from the Democratic National Committee -- (October 7, 2016) U.S. Says Russia Directed Hacks to Influence Elections

3. a. Provide "proof" that Russians may have hooked John Podesta with a classic spearphishing scam any competent 10 year old could have avoided.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Thursday released a joint report detailing how federal investigators linked the Russian government to hacks of Democratic Party organizations. -- (December 29, 2016) FBI, DHS release report on Russia hacking

3. b. Provide a software signature for malware found on the DNC system (likely in the email account of a user) and claim the malware originates from Russia.

This document provides technical details regarding the tools and infrastructure used by the Russian civilian and military intelligence Services (RIS) to compromise and exploit networks and endpoints associated with the U.S. election ... The report contains specific indicators of compromise, including IP addresses and a PHP malware sample. -- (December 29, 2016) DHS/DNI Joint Analysis Report, available as a PDF file in multiple web locations

4. Ignore the fact that the malware in 3.b above is actually Ukrainian and has been distributed hundreds of thousands of times over the past five years.

By viewing the source code, we could find the name of the malware and the version. It is P.A.S. 3.1.0. We googled it and found a website that makes this malware. The website claims the malware is made in Ukraine and the date at the bottom has the Ukraine country code UA. ... On the About page of the software, it says MADE IN UKRAINE. -- (December 30, 2016) US Govt Data Shows Russia Used Outdated Ukrainian PHP Malware

5. Get a fake news outlet like the Washington Post (original source of "Russia attacks US power grid" story) to front page a story combining the keywords "Russia", "hack", "election" and "malware". Count on the rest of the MSM to breathlessly repeat the fake news story as did USA Today in the article quoted below.

Malicious software believed tied to a Russian hacking group associated with attempts to influence the U.S. presidential election was found Friday within a computer that belongs to Burlington Electric, one of Vermont’s electrical utilities. -- (December 31, 2016) Russia penetrated Vermont utility company computer

Call anybody who questions the governments official account as Putin or Trump sympathizers.
