Here We Go Again - Culinary Union Sautés Bernie Sanders
The politically influential Culinary Union in Nevada released a statement on Wednesday claiming that its members have been “viciously attacked” by supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. after the union publicly warned its members against backing a candidate in the state’s Democratic caucus who supports “Medicare-for-All.”
The union’s statement comes amid reports of harassment of union members over the phone and on social media by alleged Sanders’ supporters less than a day after the union released a flyer claiming that Sanders wants to “end culinary healthcare.”
“It’s disappointing that Senator Sanders’ supporters have viciously attacked the Culinary Union and working families in Nevada simply because our union has provided facts on what certain healthcare proposals might do to take away the system of care we have built over 8 decades,” Geoconda Argüello-Kline, the secretary-treasurer of the Culinary Union Local 226, said in her statement.
In case you're wondering why I titled this essay "Here We Go Again", this is the same Nevada union that Sanders supporters got into trouble with in 2016:
Campaign staffers for Sen. Bernie Sanders donned union pins to gain access to worker dining rooms in Las Vegas, the powerful Culinary Workers union said Thursday.
“We can confirm multiple reports of Bernie Sanders’ campaign staffers attempting and gaining access to employee dining rooms at Las Vegas Strip properties where over 57,000 members that we represent work,” said Geoconda Arguello-Kline, Culinary Workers Union Local 226 secretary-treasurer.
Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver confirmed the action and offered an apology.
Apparently, the Culinary Workers Union has a long memory and has not forgiven Bernie and his "Bros" for their 2016 hijinks.
