Here We Go Again - Culinary Union Sautés Bernie Sanders

The politically influential Culinary Union in Nevada released a statement on Wednesday claiming that its members have been “viciously attacked” by supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. after the union publicly warned its members against backing a candidate in the state’s Democratic caucus who supports “Medicare-for-All.”

The union’s statement comes amid reports of harassment of union members over the phone and on social media by alleged Sanders’ supporters less than a day after the union released a flyer claiming that Sanders wants to “end culinary healthcare.”

“It’s disappointing that Senator Sanders’ supporters have viciously attacked the Culinary Union and working families in Nevada simply because our union has provided facts on what certain healthcare proposals might do to take away the system of care we have built over 8 decades,” Geoconda Argüello-Kline, the secretary-treasurer of the Culinary Union Local 226, said in her statement.

In case you're wondering why I titled this essay "Here We Go Again", this is the same Nevada union that Sanders supporters got into trouble with in 2016:

Campaign staffers for Sen. Bernie Sanders donned union pins to gain access to worker dining rooms in Las Vegas, the powerful Culinary Workers union said Thursday.

“We can confirm multiple reports of Bernie Sanders’ campaign staffers attempting and gaining access to employee dining rooms at Las Vegas Strip properties where over 57,000 members that we represent work,” said Geoconda Arguello-Kline, Culinary Workers Union Local 226 secretary-treasurer.

Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver confirmed the action and offered an apology.

Apparently, the Culinary Workers Union has a long memory and has not forgiven Bernie and his "Bros" for their 2016 hijinks.

Some people say they can see tweets just fine, and others not. I can't, and am using Firefox.

and the tweets show just fine. Click the shield in the address bar, if the enhanced tracking protection is on then toggle it off, refresh the page and see if that makes a difference.

Sometimes FireFox updates will mess with those settings.

Are you using Chrome?

The tweets work fine with my FireFox, if I can't replicate your problem then I can't fix it.

Oh look, our ol' comrade, y'know the one who crossed Culinary226's picket line, is showing some solidarity for M4A/s . . .

Let's face it, Liz. Your campaign has tanked. You will drop under 10% of the vote in Nevada, and you are hoping that by being a lickspittle, you'll get to be Secretary of the Treasury under Bloomberg. That's as foolish as thinking Hillary was gonna make you VP.

I am only speaking generally, but many unions have their own healthcare programs which, like health insurance generally, can be a real moneymaker. So while Medicare For All offers care for everyone, it isn't profitable for the unions.

I've been union. They take a cut while offering less every negotiating period.
I'll take med4all and give up my dues with pleasure.
I'll throw in my veteran health care, which is top notch to me, to help everyone.
It's makes no sense to help yourself if others can't benefit.

This crap from the few remaining unions in our country is yet another 99% vs 1% situation. While 99%+ of culinary workers nationwide have no union, no health insurance, and are still fighting for a $15/hour wage, the prissy, overpaid 1% who work in Lost Wages' gambling dens are essentially telling the rest of us: "I've got mine, fuck you!"

Certain other unionized workers/retirees are pulling the same crap.

Fuck all of them.

The trouble with Google Translate is that it is context-free and extremely literal-minded - so it's often wrong.

Tweets not displaying? It's often a browser setting

Find the settings control for your brower (there's usually an icon in the upper right of your screen) and look around for a switch to display "embedded tweets." Make sure it's on. And when it's on, make sure your settings are saved.

Also, check your add-ons. If there's a DuckDuckGo extension, you may need to disable or remove it.

Increasing the amount of New registered voters in Nevada.

Specifically, according to Chuck Rocha, newly registered Latinos numbering well over 100,000 since 2016.

The Culinary Union has 60,000 members and the Nevada Caucuses in 2016 had 80,000 participants.

Bernie's campaign saw this coming and has been preparing for it.
