Hurricane Henri Tropical Cyclone Update
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL AL082021
600 AM EDT Sun Aug 22 2021
...600 AM EDT POSITION UPDATE...
...TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS BEGINNING TO SPREAD ACROSS
PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...
A Weatherflow station on Block Island, Rhode Island recently
reported sustained winds of 36 mph (58 km/h) with a gust to 42 mph
(68 km/h). A Weatherflow station near Narragansett, Massachusetts
recently reported sustained winds of 33 mph (53 km/h) with a gust to
39 mph (63 km/h).
Present position is about 100 miles south of Montauk, Long Island, NY
moving north at about 18 knots, will get it up here in about 6 - 7 hours.
Looks like the most damage will be to coastal regions of Long Island, CT and RI
with storm surges pushing the higher tides, driven by the storm (almost full moon)
flooding along the shores.
Getting prepped, may lose power, hopefully not too many trees!

Hoping for light impact...
...but it will be what it will be. Fred just came over us last week. Could have been lots worse. Looks like Henri's surge is going to be rough. Hang tight!
All the best.

We should be OK
We're about 5 miles from the coast with an elevation of about 450 feet above sea level. Wife has family on the south shore of Long Island, will probably get flooded.

question everything
It's raining in NYC
not too much. Wind is light
I have to wonder if Cuomo yelling remember Hurricane Sandy, do not take this lightly, was honest, or just a last gasp bid for attention.
Of course, I took all precautions and my garden is safely sheltered, my trash emptied (during Sandy, our building locked the comapactor rooms. It was really good to have an outdoor space for trash storage)
Wishing all a safe storm day.

NYC is drowning
closing in on 24 hours of rain ranging from steady to downpours. Emergency alerts continue to appear on my phone.
No end in sight.

take care and be as safe as you can!
