Help Us Take a Progressive People's Platform to the very floor of the DNC (and Beyond) - The People's Convention Needs You

On July 23rd in Philly, The People's Convention will let anyone who attends vote on ratifying planks for a People's Platform at an all day event at the Historic Arch Street Meeting House.

We know the official Dem Platform Committee is dominated by Clinton supporters. Bernie delegates are committed to taking our platform to the floor of the DNC to fight for the inclusion in the Dem Platform of a more progressive agenda. After the convention we will be asking progressive candidates to endorse and campaign on our issues and policies, and not whatever pablum the DNC platform committee comes up with.

But we need your help: We need volunteers, donations and people spreading the word on social media. This is a true grassroots event organized from the bottom-up. We have no celebrity sponsors (though if you know any who would be willing to attend or otherwise endorse please pass this along to them).

What we do have is the dedication and hard work of everyday people like yourselves. People who are living on the brink of financial disaster. People who suffer from a racial injustice. People who recognize the real and present danger of climate change and the need for immediate action, not more fracking and other Neo-liberal horseshit. And most of all, people who understand that our democracy has been stolen from us by the big money interests that control both major parties, and that we need to fight to take it back from their greedy, blood-stained hands.

The mainstream media won't cover us, and the "Progressive Media" is focused on other things at the moment. But I believe that the People's Platform, which will come out of this event, The People's Convention, will ultimately prove to have a greater significance than all the marches and rallies that will follow.

Those marches and rallies are important and I expect huge crowds to participate in them. However, I also I fear that they won't be covered by the media, or if they are covered it will be because the police in Philly attack the protesters giving the mainstream media a juicy narrative about "violence prone" Bernie supporters and "socialist revolutionaries."

For that reason, we can't just be seen fighting for the revolution in the streets of Philadelphia. That is why Sanders' delegates are committed to fighting for our agenda on the floor of the DNC. This is why the People's Convention has great significance.

For the organizers, Shana East, a founding member of People for Bernie and Bernie's Illinois Digital and Volunteer Coordinator, and Jack Pollack, a founding member of Interoccupy.net, affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement, this isn't a one-off event. It is only the beginning of their plan to foster coordination among the numerous groups dedicated to continuing the revolution Bernie, Occupy and BLM all inspired.

So, whatever you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. Volunteer to join the People's Revolution, make a tax-deductible donation if you can, attend and vote on July 23rd in Philly, or spread the word about the People's Convention any way you can. Help us fight to regain our democracy and (to steal a slogan from a man who doesn't deserve to use it) Make America Great by fighting for Universal (i.e., single payer) Healthcare, A Living Wage, Electoral Reform (especially getting big money out of our political process), and real action on Climate Change, Income Inequality and Racial Justice.

#SeeYouInPhilly

Thanks, Steve

I'll put this out on social media a few times each day. I also plan to attend and have RSVP'd. My daughter and I will use public transportation to get there.

When is the starting time?

No support for an untelevised bloodbath coming to innocents for Bernie. Corrupted organizations owned by the Clintons (DLC) will not reform, only push back harder and people will get hurt. Better for Bernie to run with Greens for prez. Then at least he'll have the power to start a real revolution as opposed to tilting at windmills. If he builds it, they will come. And with his name recognition, control of the electoral process, votes will be counted and matter. The system is rigged, let's unrig it with a trustworthy alternative for indy voters.
