Give Me A Break!

Does anybody remember "Summer Break", aka "Summer Vacation"

?

Beach-10

We wuz kidz, and the year that mattered, the school year, ran from September to late May or June. You never knew about next year, kids died or their families moved or teachers quit or moved or died. Anything could happen and the only thing that mattered was that it was summer and you were free to do your summer thing, even if it was a summer job. You could worry about next year in late August or early September. Remember that at all?

So WTF is Biden doing talking about NEXT September when we haven't even had Summer Break yet? Is that, by definition, bullshit, or what?

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

Don't get your hopes up kids
cause there is no immediacy in
solving apparently dire problems --
best to ponder and pause, figure out
new incremental approaches,
appoint commissions and distract
attention toward some undefined
future solution. Trust us, we've got this one...

@QMS

means we don't do this any time soon, September at the earliest, if then. The magic 8-Ball is stuck on "Check back later". They don't really even pretend to set dates for environmental emergencies, just years, meaning decades "in 2025" doesn't mean "by 2025", but "no sooner than 2025", which means they'll start working on it in 2024.

The MSM ( propaganda wing) claps loudly without questioning the statements. The scary part is that the republicans will perhaps take over the house and maybe the senate in 2022.

@humphrey I fully agree with you RE 2022 - and I find myself sympathizing with a self-described "staunch conservative" with whom I often play Dungeons & Dragons (or technically an offshoot thereof) via play-by-post (for those unfamiliar, think "chess by mail", but of course with the speed and multimedia amenities of the Internet): He thinks it's best when neither party has a real upper hand, so that as little as possible gets accomplished - which, given that the only time the government REALLY shows what it's capable of anymore is when it decides to do really bad things, sounds pretty close to the best we can hope for.

All that my generation knows of government is as a burdensome, or even outright hostile, force in our lives that works primarily to the advantage of the most pathological among us.

I know it may not seem like it now, but I predict a "libertarian-right" near-future...and my foresight where politics are concerned has accumulated an unsettlingly good track record.

Bidden can't remember 5 minutes ago, so he figures we can't either.

even considered putting it up in the body of the piece. Great minds and all that, thanks a lot.
