Good morning 99percenters!

The Spring and The Fall

In the spring of the year, in the spring of the year,
I walked the road beside my dear.
The trees were black where the bark was wet.
I see them yet, in the spring of the year.
He broke me a bough of the blossoming peach
That was out of the way and hard to reach.

In the fall of the year, in the fall of the year,
I walked the road beside my dear.
The rooks went up with a raucous trill.
I hear them still, in the fall of the year.
He laughed at all I dared to praise,
And broke my heart, in little ways.

Year be springing or year be falling,
The bark will drip and the birds be calling.
There's much that's fine to see and hear
In the spring of a year, in the fall of a year.
'Tis not love's going hurt my days.
But that it went in little ways.

The only Edna St Vincent Millay poem I know is the 'my candle burns at both ends' one. Good morning 99%er's. Spring is here Yippee. I started working on my yard and garden yesterday. I'm trying to be smart about it and not obsessively try to do a months work on a day or two. I cleaned out our barn/garage and unburied my bike which was at the back. Eric pumped up the tires and I took it for a spin last evening. It felt really good, made me happy feeling the wind at my back and front. I found Eric's old bike saddle bags in the basement and today I'm putting them on my bike. Easier then walking and carrying bags of groceries or strapping on the back back for my trudge home from New Seasons.

I'm having a hard time with politics these days. I don't even like reading about Axelrod's 'world as we find it' . After 20 years of being A Democratic partisan and politically active I'm feeling a void that needs to be filled with something positive, constructive and real. Some poor environmentalist from OSPRIG called last night and I gave him an earful of what I thought about this lot of pols and lobbyist's including the 'left'. He reminded me that I have been donating to OSPRIG for 23 years and said he'd call back later when I wasn't having such a bad day. lol. I'd had a great day and was feeling feisty. At the end of the call we we're both laughing and I'm still contributing monthly to this excellent Oregon state environmental org. As I get older I just don't care so much about opening my big mouth about politics or most anything. Get off my non- lawn you whippersnapper. I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it, silently anyways.

The reason people don't vote is because it doesn't do a damned thing and it's totally rigged. Making voting mandatory is sick considering the fake choices we get from the owners of the place. Ratifying and giving consent to war criminal's, bankster's, earth destroyer's and corrupt corporate pols should not be mandated. Agree with Al it's like mandated for profit corporate insurance instead of universal affordable healthcare. Our new gov. Kate Brown D, passed a law that automatically registers voters through the DMV. I'm sure it will help the Dems. as the populated part of Oregon, Portland is pretty solidly Democratic. The Republicans here are really nutso any crooked pol that want's to be elected switches to Democratic. Doesn't mean they are democratic they just can't win if they have a R after their name. I guess I'm still addicted to politics listen to me venting and ranting about politics. I need a new vocation like maybe taking up my art again.

Have a good day everyone. I'm getting off this confounded machine and working both inside and out. Windows need washing and clients need hustling. See you guys later.

Fog

By Carl Sandburg

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Sometimes, simple just seems to fit...I lived on the ocean in Gulfport Mississippi one time, and I loved to sit on the balcony and watch the fog roll in...

Thanks for the poem...carrot cookies and poetry...I rather suspect, you are a hedonist at heart...Aimez la vie
