Friday Night Photos Reflections Edition

Happy Friday everyone. As always, post whatever you got.

Well, winter has arrived in southern Ca. We got about an inch of rain on Tuesday, and it was cold enough Wednesday night to freeze the water in the birdbath. Hope everyone is staying warm and dry.

A few reflection shots from a much warmer and drier day. Okay, drier for me, not so much for the birds.

@QMS
I never had much luck with Vizene getting the red out. Looks like monsieur wood duck isn't having much luck either.

I woke up this morning determined to drink less, eat right, and exercise.
But that was four hours ago when I was younger and full of hope.

Looking at your reflection of the wood duck made me think of animation. It’s such a clear, yet also transformative version.

Thank you for your always lively photos, and for holding this space for photos of all kinds, and other interesting stuff.

@janis b I call that an art shot. It's great. I can't figure it out, but that is part of the great about it. How's this? Final answer: It is the debris in a dust devil frozen mid-air as it is flying past an open tent door.

I love your dreamscape conclusion. It definitely looks like looking out of some interior space at some bizarre image outside. I probably shouldn't describe the reality, which you’ll already know as something much more mundane.

I never heard of a dust devil before ; ).

Hi photons,

Awesome photos SP! Beautiful! Outstanding! Wood Duck will make a birder out of some people. So stunning. It and its cousin the Mandarin Duck from China are the only two ducks in their genus, Aix. Woodies are often very ginchy in the wild, particularly in nesting season. But some will move into city parks and winter with other waterfowl as tame as can be, sometimes even getting in bread lines. Wood Duck are treehole nesters.

Weather Report was great too... Wink

Hope all is well SP. Glad you guys got some water! And snow in the Sierra!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks for the info on the Mandarin and Wood ducks.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the western states will get much needed rain and snow this winter.

Probably posted these before...

Least Grebe

Dead center is an Arizona sister butterfly. It is almost wings edge on to the lens, but the reflection of underwing with white band fairly obvious.

If you turn the grebe sideways, it looks like animal horns.

Thanks for the musical reflection. I had forgotten about that wonderful song.

That yellow eye on the Least Grebe really stands out.
Nice music selection, too.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Terrific photos and tunes. I love Weather Report and have "Sweet Nighter" on vinyl. Haven't seen Marmalade posted on any site in ages. Manhattan Transfer's " Birdland" ain't too shabby, either. Smile
