Happy Friday everyone. Post whatever you got.

Hi SP! and all! OUTSTANDING Cooper's Hawk photos! Whaddabird! Awesome pics! Of course accipiters are mostly small bird eaters. Avivores. Short rounded wings and long tail make for excellent twisting and turning in tight spaces, like the forest or understory. I have seen twice Cooper's Hawks with Eastern Fox Squirrel that they took. Both were big females. Yours looks a female to my eye. They are a low-density resident where I am and visit our bird feeding station, as one of their bird feeding stations. Unfortunately a pair nests too close somewhere.

Here is a juvenile, it takes two years for them to acquire adult plumage as yer bird.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

@dystopian
Nice shot of the juvenile Cooper's Hawk.
I see Cooper's from time to time. The Red-shouldered Hawk predominates the area around where I live.

When I offer to wash your back in the shower, all you have to say is yes or no.
Not all this "who are you, and how did you get in here?" nonsense.

What a portrait in stillness and composure. That last photo is intensely beautiful.

Great Clapton too!

Nice shots. Love the patterns and textures.
I don't know why, but your first shot reminds me of something out of a Stephen King novel.

to turn an innocent play toy of children on the beach (bubble weed) into something more threatening. My bad, I see what you mean though, how it can appear demonic ; ).

are breathtaking. We used to have a family of Cooper's Hawks close by, but it seems the crows have discouraged them in recent years.

@Linda Wood
There's not a lot of Cooper's Hawks around where I live. I'm lucky if I see one a month. Red-shouldered Hawks on the other hand I see almost daily.
