Friday Night Photos Dogma Edition

Happy Friday and best wishes to all in the new year. Here's hoping 2022 isn't the dog of a year that 2021 has been. As always, post whatever you got.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

I woke up this morning determined to drink less, eat right, and exercise.
But that was four hours ago when I was younger and full of hope.

I don't know why dogs are used in an aggressive or unfavourable context, like "dog eat dog". It's not natural.

My wish to all, everywhere, is for more light and tender connections in life.

Cheers everyone!

Love all the green. With all the rain we have been having lately, I'm hoping for a green spring here.

That's just gorgeous, and so satisfyingly mysterious.

How were your travels?

I didn't know who Friedrich was so I had to look him up. He's got a lot of nice looking paintings.

My memories, visual and visceral, are quite strong from my travels through canyon lands. They're landscapes unlike any others. They have such an ancient feel, and are beautiful and mystifying remnants of geological history.

@janis b I try to imagine the water and wind of centuries past, that got the land to that point.
I have visited Palo Duro twice, the Grand Canyon twice, and Copper Canyon, in Mexico, once. The Grand Canyon and Copper Canyon are one long continuation of geological phenomena.

of camping at the base of Canyonlands National Park, as well as above. The base was the most memorable. Envisioning that it was once underwater, as you mentioned, is unforgettable. The layers of life and time.

@janis b in Palo Duro.
We might.
Yeah...when you view any cliff, and standing ridge...amazing. What we saw were incredible rocks perched on precipices that looked like you could kick them off the cliff with a little effort. Nature at it's finest, reminding us of those times when it was not.

That's some rugged looking terrain. Is the park near you?

@Socialprogressive in Texas. 8 hours drive to see some other interesting part of Texas is pretty routine.
I am east Texas, an hour plus from the Louisiana border, about an hour's drive from Houston. It takes many hours to go to the border, or panhandle. I can't say it enough: this is a big ass state.
I will spend time in a cabin, the one in my dreams, in Colorado, upon retirement. When I retire, one day, hot months here will be spent in the cabin in Colorado. Cold months there will be spent here.
It is a 13 or 14 hour drive from where I live to the Colorado property. This place we stayed in Amarillo will always be our in transit lay over. And we will get to go to the park again.
I think 5 years more of work, unless I win the lotto.
Damn! I didn't buy a lotto ticket!

Great pix all... I would love to hear that dog sing SP. Are those your yorkies? They are funny cool little dogs. Neat pix!

my only handy canine dogma would be this Gray Fox.

Mrs. dysto took this... it was too far for the flash, save the eyeshine. Twas Mr. 10 point buck.

I would love to possess the grace and stealth of the grey fox. Mrs. dysto's shot of the deer is fantastic. I didn't know deer had headlights for eyes, I thought only cars did ; ).

I have not heard one sing but I did read that they sound like a coyote.
The yorkie is Shadow. She's about 6 years old and belongs to a friend of my sister.
Nice shot of the Gray Fox and Mrs. dystos shot of the buck is way cool.

Warmth, more so than many humans (several degrees warmer) "dog" is a complement.

Also, let this be a warning, Keep your dogs cool. A dog's temperature is higher than a human's—approximately 101 degrees F to 102.5 degrees F, with an upper level of normal close to 103 degrees F. So ambient air temperature feels hotter to them than it does to us.

Here's hoping 2022 will be a dog of a year.
We couldn't ask for better since they are man (and womans) best and purest friends.

Is a place I have gone to multiple times. Its a fascinating place. The center place of an ancient, vanished civilization.

Vanquished by climate change.
