Extracting my diaries from TOP or GOS or Orange State? New Project

Anyone know the best way to save your Diaries, with code, links and images from that other place?

As user "NoMoreLies", I have chosen to disappear from that other place, and have literally spent less than 30 minutes there since the Ides of March decree. I have been a member of that place since 2005 and have a gift life membership. I am not going to close my account and GBCW there, choosing simply to disappear, with the possibility of posting an I Told you So diary. I began to become disillusioned with the place with the defense of Obama despite his glaring failures to implement or even stand up for any portion of his 2008 platform that helped anyone below the 90th income/wealth percentile, but there was still a contingent of shall we say, reality based lefties until the Ides of March Decree. The Ides of March and the unquestioning support of neoliberalism and image over substance under whatever name the DLC and conservadems like Obama and Hillary are using at the time was the last straw. The conservadems (DLC/NoLabels/NewDemocrats) change their name as much as Blackwater/Xe/Academi but I digress.

I didn't write many diaries there, choosing mostly to lurk or comment, but I wrote some excellent ones. I would like to rescue them, including the links, with a couple of ones that might be worth reposting here, particularly as they would be relevant to the Resilience group.

II will also be planning on my Plan C back up project (plan A was Bernie, Plan B is Jill Stein, Plan C is a non-profit dedicated to bettering the lives of Walworth County Wisconsin Citizens through resilience projects, education beyond the corporate media (one thing I'd like to do is to have my non-profit be somewhat of a replacement for the UW Extension office that is being shut down in my county through Walker's austerity program), ecological restoration, promoting local self reliance, anti corporate initiatives, etc), but the Plan C was likely to happen anyway. If anyone has any experience setting up a non-profit, sustainability group, I'm all ears, and local folks here in SE Wisconsin are welcome to participate!

Anyway, because of the lies, "NoMoreLies" is done with GOS. For quite a while I spent a lot of time on Facebook with Bernie Groups, but now I'm planning on getting more active here, and with my non-profit project. Its time to actually get something done off line! In fact way past time. Government and corporate have failed utterly on all levels. Time to do things ourselves!

Thanks in advance for the help everyone!

He can tell you. I know it isn't s simple copy and paste because of the dkos 5 upgrade. Another person who can help is Cassidorus. He removed all of his to a location that he controls.

I think all the browsers have a selection "save page". That would be the easiest way to save your diary in and html text editable format. It will save the HTML page and create a folder to save the images and what not within.

Firefox provides several choices as to addon extensions that will convert a web page into .pdf files, which is great is you have Adobe Acrobat for editing purposes. I can't say anything about other browsers as they all suck.

OR-- you could simply pull up your diary, highlight the text and copy/past into whatever notepad or word processor you are using. If you want the attendant HTML to go with the text, right click on 'view page source' and copy/paste that into your word processor or HTML editor and save it that way.

By far the easiest and fastest way to copy paste the entire diary is to use this gem of a little Firefox extension:

Easy Copy

Once installed all you'll need to do is go to the diary page, the diary itself not the editor, and highlight the total diary, text, images and videos, all of it, and then copy it to your browser:

Left click and hold down button to highlight the diary---->then right click on highlighted area and select "Copy HTML Source"

Next open up a c99p editor and paste the lifted code into the editing box:

Right click---->select "Paste"

You are done! You can then preview the pasted diary and you may have to perform a couple of tweaks. You can copy/paste a diary in a matter of minutes once you learn the process.

The extension works by lifting all the HTML code from the web page, including the HTML for images and videos, and preserves the formatting as it was originally displayed. It's amazing. Joe Shikspack and myself used this to compile the Evening Blues compilations, it cut the work time by at least half.

If you decide to use it and need some help with it send me a PM.
