We're remembering Ed Schultz because he died today (7/5/18).

Ed Schultz, local and national broadcast personality, died at Washington, D.C., home from natural causes
By Helmut Schmidt Today at 1:42 p.m.

FARGO – Longtime broadcaster Ed Schultz died of natural causes Thursday, July 5, at his home in Washington, D.C., according to RT America, where he was the host of “The News With Ed Schultz.” He was 64.

"We at RT America are sad to announce the passing of Edward Andrew Schultz. Ed Schultz passed quietly early morning on July 5 at his home in Washington, D.C. This announcement comes as a shock to all of us here at RT America," said the channel's official statement.

We often speak hereabouts (c99p) about sell-out milquetoast centrists and how we lefties actually have things in common with a certain slice of right-wing libertarians. Schultz lived that.

Schultz, a local and national radio and television personality who never shied away from controversy, got his start as a sports broadcaster for Fargo-Moorhead television stations in the early 1980s, including time as sports director at WDAY-TV. He eventually moved to talk radio, including WDAY radio, dominating the local airwaves as a conservative firebrand in the 1990s.

However, he later said his views changed and he became a Democrat.

ibid.

I'd wager his fundamental views, based on the inalienable rights and dignities of every human being, didn't change one whit. What changed was that Schultz's views matured as he recognized that only the tiniest minority of humans get to enjoy their rightful dignities and rights without the help of society as a whole.

And I daresay he wasn't "a Democrat" on this, the day he died. The Democratic Party dumped him and his ilk just like it trashed us and ours; the real story of why he separated from MSNBC. Conform or be expelled. Rachel Maddow decided one way, Ed Schultz the other.

And our world is far poorer without Ed Schultz in it.

Nihil umquam in oblivione est. (Nothing is ever forgotten.)

@thanatokephaloides Just wondering what they mean by died of natural causes at age 64 ? I used to listen to him quite a bit when he was on the radio and once in a while on RT. I didn't here anything about him being ill though.

Hmmm Just wondering what they mean by died of natural causes at age 64 ?

My guess: heart attack. With just enough doubt to where they can't officially list that as cause of death.

He wasn't vindictive or mean-spirited. Being a good person goes a long way towards improving one's likability. People notice it, too.

This is from 2015. RIP Ed.

Schultz says his trouble at MSNBC started when he informed his bosses that he planned to cover Bernie Sanders' campaign announcement live from Vermont, and that he would be airing the first, exclusive, cable network interview with the progressive presidential candidate. They objected, and even went so far as to tell Schultz to drop the story.

He continues...
"I think the Clintons were connected to [NBC's] Andy Lack, connected at the hip," Schultz told NRO host Jamie Weinstein. "I think that they didn't want anybody in their primetime or anywhere in their lineup supporting Bernie Sanders. I think that they were in the tank for Hillary Clinton, and I think that it was managed, and 45 days later I was out at MSNBC."

but how does the MSM paint Ed?

A few months later, Schultz landed at Russia Today, where he's a full-time, English language spokesperson for Vladimir Putin.
