Delta, Southwest, American Airlines planes temporarily grounded due to computer outage

This is a sign of total regulatory failure and criminal cost-cutting by the airline industry. Throw some craptastic software in the design and then just let the public take their chances.

Delta, Southwest, American Airlines planes temporarily grounded due to computer outage

Multiple airlines, including Southwest, American and Delta, saw their planes temporarily grounded early Monday morning due to a computer outage in a central system. As a result, travelers can expect lingering flight delays as airlines play catch-up.

The Federal Aviation Administration said several airlines experienced issues with AeroData, a program that provides weight-and-balance information that is necessary to grant clearance for takeoff. The FAA said severity varied by airline.

Southwest Airlines said the outage grounded flights for about 40 minutes.

Airline spokesman Dan Landson said that scattered flight delays are anticipated and customers should check Southwest.com for the latest updates on specific flights.

By 8:15 a.m. EDT, American Airlines announced via Twitter that the issue, which had affected its regional flights, had been resolved.

I won’t be flying anymore. Profits over people put us in this position.

And these software ‘glitches’? I took a year of computer programming and if there’s one thing I remember from that experience is the remark by a teacher where he said that when you run into an error in a program and fix it, it often causes an problem with other parts on down the line if you’re not thorough and very careful.

I don’t know how accurate his remark was back way back then but after all the things we’ve seen lately with ‘software problems’ in those metal cylindrical tubes that carry passengers miles and miles above the ground, I don’t want to be in one to test his theory. Considering how many patches I get a week for this iPhone and the apps on it, I have little faith in the safety of an aircraft that is run by ‘software’, especially the parts that are supposed to keep your butt up there in the friendly skies.

Did you see where Icelandic Air closed it doors leaving hundreds stranded? My grandson was on a pink flight that had to spend the night somewhere because one of the plane's doors fell off. On the other hand, airfares were amazing. $250 round trip from NY to Rome.

Population control. Think any of the airline CEOs had trouble sleeping after the two planes crashed? Probably as much as the military leaders do after they ordered bombing runs that killed lots of civilians. Or took out civilian infrastructure and hospitals.

As I said in Amanda's other essay corporations are hiding the number of deaths from their products with their regulatory agencies backing them up. If this bothered people then they would stop doing it. They haven't because it doesn't.

But what might get their f'cking attention is for people to stop flying. Buying. Taking. Eating.

Oh BTW. The FDA is still recalling Hills prescription diet drugs. And if anyone uses Darwins Natural food they have issued a salmonella warning.

Dawg food has been having problems with certain brands having too much vitamin D in them for quite some time and yet we're still seeing more brands added to the list. Why is so much of our food being imported from China and other countries? Because we don't make jack sh*t in America anymore. One article I read said Boeing has offer shored so many of its parts to various countries. Why? Profits of course. "Let's try to find the country that allows for as little payment as possible."

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I did read they did that.. didn't another company also do that recently?

Off topic. Sears loaded up the company with debt then declared bankruptcy and then the same guy bought it back. Gave himself and his friends millions in salary and then gutted people's retirement plans. People in their 80's now have nothing to live on except for their SS which is probably peanuts because many women used to work at Sears back in the day and we can be sure they weren't paid much. Why judges allow this to happen is so beyond my comprehension, but they do.

airline abruptly shut down. I thought “what are these poor people going to do stranded, miles from home, and no way home. And then I read later that other airlines were helping passengers.

There’s not too many places that I really want to visit, but I’ve decided that’s a good thing. It’s a long walk to Ireland, so Ithink I’ll leave that off my ‘bucket list’.
