That Curry kid might be pretty good

This is probably the wrong crowd, but I like basketball and I thought I would share a few recent observations about my favorite player of all-time - Steph Curry.
Unless you've been under a rock, you've heard about this kid. He's a 2-time NBA MVP (including the only unanimous choice in NBA history), 3-time Champion, and unlike some pro basketball players, he's actually a really nice guy. He's "only 6-foot-3", so his size is relatable.
He is credited with personally changing the way the game is played, because he can consistently hit shots from so far away that opposing teams have had no choice but to adjust/spread their defenses up to half-court on every play.

But why am I talking about him now?
Because he's 33, and by NBA standards he's "over-the-hill".
At least that was the consensus in the media before this season started. Especially when his sharpshooter teammate, Klay Thompson, went down with an injury.

So how do you think the once nicknamed "baby-faced assassin" might respond to people dismissing him? Check out what he's done recently.

To put his 55-50-90 numbers in perspective, the traditional demarcation for someone having a great, MVP-quality year is 50-40-90. He's obliterating those numbers.
Some other numbers.

His streak of 30-point games is the longest by a Warriors player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1964.

With 47 and 49 points in his last two games, he is the first player 33 or older to score 45+ in back-to-back games since Michael Jordan in 2001.

It's funny reading quotes of people trying to describe what Curry is doing right now. They have to invent superlatives.

Even by his alien sociopathic standards, the run Curry is on right now is bonkers.

One more video. If you want to see what Curry's teammates think of his abilities, check out this one. His teammate not only passed up on a wide-open shot, but turned away from the basket AND celebrated before Curry had even shot the ball.

Both of Steph Curry's parents were college athletes. His mother, Sonya was a volleyball star and his father, Del Curry, was a college and pro standout basketball player. I remember seeing a video of Sonya Curry sink a basketball shot from half court for charity.

One of the reasons Steph Curry is so good and consistent is that he has an insane training program that merges fitness with accuracy of shooting in the same workout. If you watch Curry during a game, you will see how he is constantly moving without the ball, more than almost any other player. IMHO, this one of the things that makes him so effective. I also hear that Steph is a pretty good golfer too. Yeah, I am a fan as well as you, gjohnsit.
