of "not feeling well" earlier in the month and cancelled a concert in Atlanta. Maybe there was something that needed to be checked out? 57 is too damn young -- that's the same age I am.

Yeah, that'd make him a 1958 model like us! Not good!

Avant garde has lost another soul - Bowie and now Prince. I love the artists that are out on the edge. Enjoy them while you can because their lives are like "bottle rockets"...

Among many, many other distinctions, Prince Rogers Nelson, in my estimation, will always be the artist that did the best damn Super Bowl halftime show EVER.

UPDATED: good grief, I had the flippin' Backstreet Boys video up! The Super Bowl vid of Prince can't be embedded (by request?? how odd...)

I am both shocked and truly saddened to hear of his passing. Prince will be remembered as being one of the most creative musicians who ever lived. Sad I believe history will treat him ever more reverently than he was in his lifetime.

Oh boy, what a shock! I am thinking of Rick James and 17. He and Prince were the 2 gifted soul/funkmasters back then. Saw Prince and the Revolution in Lakeland. They were wicked. RIP.

Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.

I live in Minneapolis.
Wish I could find a Youtube of Raspberry Beret.
It was the first Prince song I heard. It was like hearing Frampton the first time.
An obvious superstar adding something new and different to the worlds music.

A pure genius and compassionate soul has left us.

What a crushing blow.

For a second, I felt like I should apologize for almost falling down when I heard the news at work... I felt like I couldn't breathe, like the air had just left. The word, "no" flew out to reach my thoughts. To feel so overwhelmingly sad at this loss, the loss of so many and so soon after Bowie... I felt almost odd for wanting to say, I'm sorry that this may seem silly to you but damnit I just want to sit down and cry and cry hard. PRINCE WAS FOUND DEAD AT 57 NOOOOOOO.

And then I realized it was perfectly ok for me to want to not believe and then cry at the loss of another... another human. I'm so blindstruckingly overwhelmingly fucking sad at this news. And for one damn second I felt like that shouldn't be okay because someone might see me as a silly person. I don't care if he was or wasn't someone's genre or thing... this man was beyond brilliant and... any loss, any death and grief should be shown and shared and not be made to feel silly over.. not even for a second.. Maybe we should be crying more over the loss of one another. To just feel okay in telling another person that simply need a moment to catch your thoughts and take a moment to cry.

Sorry not venting - but crying. Just crying. Crying.

Oh geeze I've lost it... My daughter just showed me some photo of a baby orangutan rescue and I'm bawling over that, too. Quick! someone send me some ice cream or something soon!

Watch: This Spike Lee-Directed Prince Music Video Used Trump as a Symbol of Inequality

Artists continue to offer up tributes to Prince, after the musician's shocking death on Thursday. One such remembrance came from the director Spike Lee, who posted a video Prince asked him to do for the song “Money Don’t Matter 2 Night," in 1992.
