Biden Announces Fund Raising for 3rd Quarter UPDATE: Also Warren

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/10/despite-big-money-events-joe-biden-rais...

Despite big-money events, Joe Biden raises $10 million less in third quarter than ‘small-donor-only socialist’ Bernie Sanders

Biden’s campaign Thursday night announced he raised $15.2 million during [the 3rd quarter] ... Biden’s total represents a nearly $7 million decline from the previous quarter, a drop-off that comes as the former vice president has seen his polling advantage erode nationally and in several key primary states. ... Biden first announced his totals during a big-money fundraiser Thursday in Palo Alto, California, where tickets sold for $1,500 and $2,800 ... The former vice president told his rich supporters that the United States doesn’t “need some radical, radical socialist kind of answer”

Polls dropping off, fundraising dropping off, though still competitive in both. Does he reach a floor of support, does he get some sympathy support after El Trumpo is mean to him, or does the campaign fizzle before the voting starts?

UPDATE
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/elizabeth-warren-raises-24-6-million-in-t...

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren raised $24.6 million in the third quarter, her campaign told supporters in an email Friday, and now has $25.7 million to spend

"to spend" I assume means "cash on hand"

“Elizabeth didn’t sell her time to wealthy donors, over the phone or in person at closed-door fundraisers,” Lau wrote. “Instead, she got to spend her time traveling across the country, hosting town halls, taking tens of thousands of selfies, and hearing directly from people about what’s on their minds.”

Sanders is falling behind in the critical selfie statistic.

943,000 donations from 509,000 different individual donors. The average donation was $26, and the campaign said more than 300,000 people donated for the first time during the third quarter.

Over the course of Joe Biden's two previous campaigns for the Dem Pres nomination, what is the total of state primaries or caucuses he has run in and in what state did he carry his highest percentage of the vote?

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

@UntimelyRippd

Over the course of both of Joe Biden's previous campaigns (1988 and 2008), he has run in a total of ONE caucus (Iowa 2008) where he received 0.9% of the vote.

Other than his Delaware Senate seat, the only other election Biden has ever won was for County Councilman.

re the Biden numbers. He would be a disaster as the nominee. Impeachment troubles for Donald would be neutralized with Joe and Hunter Biden repping the Ds.

Warren camp reporting today she nearly equalled Bernie's Q3 haul -- $24.6mil. Q1 for her was a mere $6m, and Q2 was $19m, so this is an impressive upward trend in fundraising.

You're still a "progressive" if you take secret money from unnamed donors as long as you use it to beat Trump.

You're pretty straightforward, do you know how much this time around? I've been looking around but can't find it. I forget how much moola she transferred last quarter but it was pretty sizeable. Bernie transferred some, too, but it still came from individual donations not the CAP and various other monies that Warren reportedly transferred.

@Wally continue to be straightforward and aboveboard: I wouldn't know the answer as it doesn't drive my boat. She's a pol after all, like all the rest and will do what they think they have to do while trying to put the best face on it with waffling words of reassurance. But on your question, since you are the one posing it, go spend some more time digging deeper and perhaps you'll find your answer.

As I've noted before, there is no perfect candidate, including Warren or Bernie or Tulsi. I've raised questions about all of those 3. I am not emotionally invested in any candidate this cycle -- in very stark contrast to some Bernie or Busters here -- nor in anyone in recent memory, though AOC in 2024 might get me excited ..

The fundraising amount sources are a legit, but perhaps not essential, question to toss EW's way, say in the next debate. Or Bernie himself could do a compare/contrast citing his small donors and non-CAP $, though many in the audience will wonder what is CAP and finding out the name will wonder why they should care. It does seem rather insider baseball to me. And in the overall, Liz with $26/per average donation has a lot to applaud herself for on the grassroots fundraising and total amounts.

With the latter point, Bernie's great fundraising, and Biden's major decline in money raised, despite meeting frequently with Big Money donors, and his Huntergate problems, it might be setting up soon as a two-person race between the most left of the remaining candidates. I think the MSM has no choice but begin to express doubts about a Biden nomination. Actually from what I hear second hand, they have already started in this direction.

. . making it clear that she will take whatever kind of money from just about anywhere, Bernie will only accept individual donations. So it's rather disingenous to say Warren is like all the others when Bernie is so clearly diffent when it comes to fundraising.

But I'll grant you that maybe Warren is a little different herself when it comes to Greening the Military:

300,000 people donated for the first time during the third quarter.

The NYT donor map from last quarter reported Warren with 421,000 individual donors .

Add the 300K new donors this quarter and Warren should have around 700K individual donors total.

Bernie reported 746,000 last quarter. This quarter, Bernie reported a total of 1.4 million individual donors, doubling Warren's total and widening his lead considerably.

@Not Henry Kissinger
I think that may be the total of donations. I know I was solicited what seemed to be every day whether I had donated yesterday or not. So Bernie wants $16/day for the next twelve months. $5,760 dollars. I grant that won't buy access to a President but it's far more than I've ever given to all politicians in my life.

You're right that 1.4 is the number of donations, not donors. Bernie announced going over 1 million donors earlier in September, but what I guess we'll have to see wait for the official reports for the final quarterly number.

They're blaming it on undisclosed 'inappropriate behavior', but the NYT also hints at the real reasons:

When he was hired, Mr. McDaniel's expertise in galvanizing black voters was touted as a boon to Ms. Warren, whose populist brand has so far held more sway in white elite circles than black ones.

According to sources familiar with the campaign, there had been discontent with Mr. McDaniel’s job performance even before the complaints regarding his behavior arose.

Warren's falling behind Bernie in the race for the base. Her flashy quarterly cash total masks significant outreach issues for Warren.

@Not Henry Kissinger to investigate, and campaign spokesperson announces it was for inappropriate behavior. Is that not a sufficient reason? And imagine the backlash and negative media scrutiny if they didn't can him right away. Imagine too the lawsuit and negative pub if there wasn't sufficient there there on the behavior.

As for broadening her Gene McCarthyesque base, it looks like some progress is being made -- but EW might have expected more progress by now. So getting a replacement in this area was probably a wise decision irrespective of what else that dude was doing that forced her to act.

I'd be more willing to discount poor performance as the main reason if the harassment complaints had started BEFORE people had begun complaining about the donor numbers.

. . and run multiple stories with exclusives from each and every woman there who felt intimidated in any way by senior staff?

I recall when someone in the Bernie staff got canned along the same lines, there were numerous such articles claiming the entire campaign was in total disarray.

Think if Hillary is nominated she'll call upon Warren to be her VP? If it happened do you think Warren would say yes? I do. If Bernie gets the nomination and picks Warren, you think she'll accept? Fat chance, I'd say. She claps and cheers for Trump dissing socialism, she's not going to run with one.

I've had enough fun. You can have the last shot.

@Wally you meant to suggest Warren would consider Bernie too lefty socialist, that would not be a consideration. She's 80% of Bernie in most DP considerations. Bernie was waiting for her to run in 2016 as you recall, and if she had entered he would not have run himself presumably.

Of course she would accept. Would be a great ticket and they would win.

And it looks like the diagnosis for Bernie was a heart attack. Not the best news politically, but looks like he's on the way to a full recovery physically.
