Is any accusation about Trump/Russia even slightly true?

The downside of complete media corruption is that you (as a non-elite, average person) realize that you cannot evaluate the truth of reporting about anything that happens inside "the bubble". Cases in point, the serial implosion of the bona fides of people charged with helping Trump "collude" with Russia.

1) Carter Page

C99p readers are long familiar with the fact that Carter Page, an early attempt at linking T to R was really an FBI plant:

It Gets Worse: Carter Page Was An Undercover Asset For The FBI

2) Christopher Steele
(of dirty dossier fame) (apologies for the ZH link)

It is Manafort’s relationship with Deripaska that happens to underlie most of the allegations made in the standard “Russiagate” narrative that Manafort was a secret agent advancing Putin’s interests inside the Trump campaign. At the same time, Oleg has been cast by the western media as simply an agent of Putin...Now, it comes out, that Steele was working not only for the DNC and with Clinton Campaign funds, but was also shared a DC lawyer and possibly doing business with Deripaska.

Christopher Steele's lawyer is Oleg Deripaska's lobbyist and employee

(this was submitted to C99p by leveymg.)

3) Felix Sater (this is new to me)

Felix Sater, the man at the center of a controversial email "tying" President Trump to Russia while trying to work a business deal...In effect, Sater - at least according to BuzzFeed, is more or less a rockstar opportunist spy with a shady past, who redeemed himself as an asset for the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the FBI. During the course of his work for the agencies, all unpaid...

Sater has been summoned to discuss his affairs with congressional investigators - and is scheduled to speak with the Senate Intelligence Committee in April. Moreover, he's been questioned by Mueller's team - "several of whom he knows from his past undercover work." Of note, Mueller was the FBI director for most of the time Sater was providing undercover information.

The U.S. attorney who oversaw Sater's pump-and-dump scheme was none other than Loretta Lynch - President Obama's Attorney General. During Lynch's confirmation, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) asked her about Sater's fraud case, to which she replied:

“The defendant in question, Felix Sater, provided valuable and sensitive information to the government during the course of his cooperation, which began in or about December 1998.

Man Cited As Trump's "Russian Link" Actually Works For The FBI

That's two FBI agents and one corrupt crony of a Russian oligarch. You have to be a low grade moron, or a typical brainwashed Demo-bot, to not immediately question the endless stream of bullshit emanating from the corporate media about Russian "meddling" or "collusion".

This whole narrative drives me crazy, because I hate that corrupt idiot, Trump; but I hate even more the absolutely illegal and dangerous propaganda ops directed against him by our corrupt Deep State. The amount of energy required to explain this kind of double-agent bullshit is very large, and most people just tune out long before you can explain it.

Because I have lived a long time and witnessed immense amounts of Deep State lying and provocation, I am pretty immune to being gaslighted about Russia. But, I do confess to getting exhausted from digging myself out from under the stream of crap under which TPTB are trying to bury the few critical thinkers left. You got this right:

The lie is so easy to tell. The truth takes so much more effort to explain. These lying bastards are very good at their job.

Still processing here, but Mueller is nobody's fool. He graduated from Princeton was on the Law Review at Virginia Law School. He had a stellar legal career and in between the FBI and getting appointed special counsel:

On October 19, 2016, Mueller began an external review of "security, personnel, and management processes and practices" at government contractor Booz Allen Hamilton after an employee was indicted for massive data theft from the National Security Agency.[48] On April 6, 2017, he was appointed as Special Master for disbursement of $850 million and $125 million for automakers and consumers, respectively, affected by rupture-prone Takata airbags.[49]

Mueller received the 2016 Thayer Award for public service from the United States Military Academy.[50] In June, 2017, he received the Baker Award for intelligence and national security contributions from the nonprofit Intelligence and National Security Alliance.

Alrighty then! Mueller is a Republican. Is he more of a Movement Conservative or a traditional Rock-ribbed Republican? That goes to whether Mueller has a political goal or a law and order goal. Or some combination there of.

Another possibility is that Mueller was dumped in the middle of a political/financial/espionage shit storm and has just been trying to figure out WTF is really going on himself.

After 10 years as Director of the FBI, Mueller clearly understands the Deep State and D.C. levers of power as well as anyone alive. How much is Mueller in control and how much is he being controlled?

He is a Deep State insider of long standing, not some fall guy. As with all Deep Staters, he is playing a role in a drama written by the DS steering committee. At this point, the role is to keep the neo-McCarthyism at full boil. Any honest special counsel would have quit after 18 months and no charges that are anywhere near related to the stated purpose of the investigation. Instead, Mueller keeps the fishing expedition going, like with this Sater clown - who sounds about as credible as the infamous Curveball.

Mueller is not a victim; he is not clueless. He is an integral part of the Hillary/CIA assault on Trump and on what little is left of our democracy. The Dems rightfully decried Ken Starr's fishing expedition; but 20 years later, they are running their own.

slush.

He was put where he is to investigate all that collusion documented in the Clinton Dossier. He knows it’s bullshit. He knows who paid for it. He knows the timeline. And he knows ALL the players.

He was also involved in a lot of really shady bullshit in the past himself. He knows the ropes. He’s even included in the cast of players in the Uranium One drama.

He knows there’s nothing to this RUSSIA! bull puckey. He also knows that sooner or later there is going to be another investigation. And that one will be taking a look into the players in all this. The cia, fbi, doj, the whole crew involved in the shenanigans of The Empty Suit’s administration, along with the DNC, and TCC herself. And I bet Mueller’s NOT going to be running that one.

I think that’s part of why he’s been dragging his feet. All he’s accomplished in the year-long snipe hunt is he’s indicted 13 Russians on charges of (**drum roll**)

COUNT ONE
(Conspiracy to Defraud the United States)
8. Paragraphs 1 through 7 of this Indictment are re-alleged and incorporated by reference as if
fully set forth herein.
9. From in or around 2014 to the present, in the District of Columbia and elsewhere, Defendants, together with others known and unknown to the Grand Jury, knowingly and intentionally conspired to defraud the United States by impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful functions of the Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Department of State in administering federal requirements for disclosure of foreign involvement in certain domestic activities.

What is that nonsense? Who came up with that? How they gonna carry through on this? And what’s the penalty, last meal, cigarette (optional), and a blindfold?

What a farce. What a huge expense to the taxoayers. And all the while the real scammers and fraudster, TCC, says all they were doing was collecting ‘opposition research’.

into the Clinton foundation and if they follow the yellow brick road that's going to be very interesting. There are so many people and governments caught up in their bogus foundation that if there is a real investigation into it, it would bring down people in congress, other government agencies and people in other countries. And apparently this has been happening for some time.

As to the charges that Mueller brought against the ham sandwiches, how the Hell can a foreign advertising company be guilty of this:

knowingly and intentionally conspired to defraud the United States by impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful functions of the Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Department of State in administering federal requirements for disclosure of foreign involvement in certain domestic activities.

No they didn't do any of those things. The advertising had nothing to do with the election, it was advertising directed mostly at Russians who live in this country. And they were placed AFTER THE ELECTION!

Sure Flynn and Gates have been charged with not registering as foreign lobbyists, but they did not help Trump collude with Putin to win the election. Everything else that has been added to his investigation is monkey poo. But as you stated, "the role is to keep the neo-McCarthyism at full boil."

@gulfgal98 to really dig up the real dirt. I think that's exactly why Mueller has taken so long to "dig up" what little he can. The real dirt touches them all. I think now that's part of the reason Trump got "elected" after all. With Her we'd maybe have had some Impeachment hearings, well, most certainly, but that really might risk too many of all of them. Private servers? Benghazi? The CIA? Clinton Foundation and Saudi Arabia? Uranium One? Russia? While most of the public would not pay much attention, could they take that risk? Far better the Rump, go after him for non existent collusion, gin up a war which is what they all want, but never go after Trump for money laundering or any real dirt. There is no evidence of a hack at the DNC. There's a ton of forensics and evidence showing no hack. Besides, Julian Assange got the files hand-delivered by a British ambassador in the foreign service. A decision was made not to send them electronically from the US.

None of these claims are true. None of these claims even pass the smell test. What they do pass is that they eminate from single thread starting from Clinton's tactic to "get Trump" from his statement about getting along with Russia. These claims also come from the prejudicial idea that he/Russia must be doing these things. It really boils down to psychological projection. He/Russia must be doing these things because we do them. Consider especially Clinton's corrupt dealings with Uranium One, and payments to the
Clinton Foundation and her partner in crime. Wow! She did it, so he must be doing it.
There is going to be a limit to these false accusations and I think that Russia and President Putin are there. I'll just give you one example. Turkey wants to buy Russian S400 air defense systems. NATO is having a bird. These systems are incompatible with NATO systems, they are technically superior, and most importantly they will ignore the friend-or-foe signals from NATO aircraft and will shoot them out of the sky. Turkey wants them right away, for obvious reasons. Russia has promised first deliveries next year and all in 2020. Russia has sufficient inventory so that they could deliver a few of them within 24 hours inside of Antonov An225 heavy lift carriers. I don't see how this can be construed to paint President Putin as a "thug".

Here's the point. The US has no idea of how deferential Russia has been in hopes of a good partnership. We are about to find out.

Since Mueller was FBI director from September 4, 2001 – September 4, 2013, he was obviously involved in the formulation of the federal government's official story on 911. Then stayed on for another 12 years after that (probably to make sure a 'proper' replacement could be found).
Mueller is the ultimate Deep Stater for sure.
But instead of the "Deep State" narrative, maybe we should start using the uncontroversial "Insider" narrative. They both mean basically the same thing, yet there is no controversy or disagreement about the existence of "insiders" who often serve masters other than the public at large.

I think "insiders" has the connotation of ordinary, run of the mill corruption. It implies that if the public just tried harder, it could clean up the corruption. OTOH, calling it the Deep State is daring to say that the US is no longer a democracy, not even a corrupt one. It is an authoritarian society run by a totally unaccountable elite.

A number of the people Mueller has hired are experts in the investigation of financial fraud. In the Yeltsin years and early Putin years Russian oligarchs laundered a vast amount of money through the US. The two primary paths were real estate and casinos.

During part of this period Trump's finances were in bad shape. There were loans he could not pay. Western banks wouldn't lend him a plugged nickel. He got through somehow. Did he establish a mutually beneficial relationship with Russian oligarchs? I don't know. Do you?

One can only hope that the intervening year, which saw the defeat of ISIS in Syria and the solidification of the Russian economy, despite sanctions, gave the Russians enough time to get ready for the inevitable US attacks. @arendt They're probably quiet because most of what's going on looks so damned crazy they want no part of it.

@arendt They're not just making him the fall guy for neocon policy. They're using him to prop up the entire failing political system. Without establishment politicians being able to compare themselves favorably to Trump, they'd have no credibility at all. The only thing they've got to say for themselves is that they're better than him. The parties and the press would be on the ropes as well. They very nearly were, round about Sept/Oct 2016 (it's never good to have thousands of people protesting in front of major media networks for anything other than League of Decency stuff).

Every damned politician in Washington, especially the Democrats, should be sending Trump monthly gift baskets.

It has been insane since Agent Orange got installed; a fire alarm a day. Without that, people might notice that we get 95-2 Senate votes for sanctions against Russia, that we get this crappy tax bill passed due to DINOs, that the DINOs just voted in the Senate to gut Dodd-Frank.

You are absolutely correct: without Trump the sellout politicians would be naked before the public. With Trump, and the bullshit Russiagate hysteria, no one is really looking to hard at the Demopublican super majority that is trashing our country, one law at a time.

@arendt Aside from trying to start World War III, I think that maintenance of a failing establishment and its plausibility is what all of this is about.

@FuturePassed That seems quite plausible. But do we really want to start investigating and prosecuting high-level politicians and very rich financiers for money laundering?

As long as it is all of them.

And they aren't being investigated by their own people.

@Bisbonian Well, of course we want that. I used the wrong pronoun in my sarcasm.

What I was really asking was: do the powerful, the ones who decide what is and is not to be investigated, actually want to investigate money-laundering among the powerful?
