Alert! Another 'We have to stand up and hold their feet to the fire' dreamer
I opened the google news feed on my phone today (I do not log into gmail) and one of the featured articles was this interview with Jill.
If we get to 5%, to me that will just take it up a whole other level. And it means that we enter into the future starting on November 9 that we have automatic ballot access in most states and that we anticipate a presidential campaign where we have $8 to $10 million right out of the starting gate.
She's going to get my vote this evening!
It was clear when Bernie Sanders launched his campaign with so much public enthusiasm, that was essentially our agenda from 2012 and he really proved how massive the support is when there’s actually an opportunity to inform and empower the public with that agenda. So that enthusiasm kept coming into our campaign from the get go.
She admits that Bernie running is the reason for more optimism this year than in 2012 because he was the catalyst for the progressive agenda reaching so many people.
And then she blows the whole interview (snark) by making the same mistake so many folks at c99p have been making-
So running at the national level, in fact we are required to do that in order to get ballot status for our down ballot races. We don’t have a choice about this. But in addition, running at the national level does some very important things… We need to challenge these candidates. We have to stand up and hold their feet to the fire at the national level.
Enough with the defeatism! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Quit your moaning and whining and get out there and hold some folks responsible.
Spending energy convincing folks that there is no hope is self fulfilling and destructive.
Fight or flight, they will may prevail either way but there is no progress with out struggle.
Go progressive cause go!

I Don't Get Your Point.
How is standing up and holding their feet to the fire at the national level different than holding some folks responsible?
“Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” ~ Sun Tzu
It isn't and that is not the point I'm making. Folks at c99p are
decrying the calls to hold National elected officials feet to the fire. Most of these same people are all in for Jill Stein.
Support Jill on this effort is my point.
Defeatism is what they want from you. It is what Hillary wants. It is what the MIC wants.
Erm, why wait? Obama's feet need
attention!
Why wait for Clinton? Get busy now....
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
Excellent comment ty!
Froman was the guy
who brought Obama to Citigroup in 2003.
He gave Obama his top personnel picks in Oct. 2008.
And now the same man wants to give us the TPP in 2016.
They have the hook in deep, don't they. Slowplay. Big picture stuff.
Hunter S. Thompson died too soon. This is the Generation of Swine.
Ow!
I think Stein meant run against Party candidates.
The other thing is help them win and hope they will throw you a bone.
In fact Stein did say "candidates". It was you who changed it to "elected officials".
But htfttf was not a good choice of words by Stein because it invites this sort of misinterpretation.(imo)
It wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor...
It was over when the Japanese burned the Reichstag.

I saw what you did there... :)

OK, Jill, I'm interested.
Do please tell us exactly how we Serfs are going to "hold their feet to the fire" in the day and age we live in, where the real owners of this country and its government need absolutely nothing from us Serfs at all -- not labor, not spending, nothing at all.
Put another way, name something we Serfs can do which would hurt these same capitalists -- the ones who bought the Oval Office for Hillary Clinton -- enough to restore our rightful power to us to make sure Ms. Clinton governs as we want, not as we know she wants to.
We already know boycotts don't work -- the 0.01% don't need us to spend money any more.
We already know that voting doesn't work (or at least it hasn't lately) -- the 0.01% control who we get to "choose" between. And in case you haven't noticed, Jill, that doesn't mean you -- or us.
All forms of non-violent protests and other sorts of non-violent actions: ibid. Witness the situation regarding the Dakota Access Pipeline, in which opposing actions you yourself participated. All our "holding feet to the fire" ever accomplished was to have President Obama reluctantly admit that maybe the glop pipeline needs to be sent through another route. Get what we needed -- the Canadians be made to send their glop through their own fucking ports instead of risking our ground and surface fresh water supplies? Not a chance in hell!
So yes, I'm interested in how you propose we "hold their feet to the fire". But I'm only interested in such as will reliably accomplish that task. And please don't insult my intelligence by attempting to evade the inconvenient facts I've just laid out here.
Thank you.
n.b.: I voted for Jill in this Presidential election.

Why did you make the effort to vote for Jill?
What was the point of your vote for Jill ,what did you vote for in marking her name on the ballot?
I voted for......
..... what Jill has consistently stood for and demanded for most of the past two decades.
Just because I criticize her for buying into the "hold their feet to the fire" nonsense doesn't change that. The fact still remains that in order to make any real difference at all, the candidates I want have to be the candidates that actually get elected.
The day in which I buy into any politician without criticism of that politician will be the day some poor bastard is going to need to dig a six foot deep hole to toss my sorry ass in, as I'll be dead, Jim. (You can have my tricorder; you do not want my wallet -- it's worse than empty!)

Did Jill demand "accountability"? :)
I'm not saying anyone is beyond reproach. I'm saying that we have 2 choices: Fight or flight.
Jill is gonna fight, Bernie is gonna fight. I'm going to fight. I will do that by supporting the winners of 104 progressive candidates that Bernie is backing and by supporting Green party candidates where they don't over lap.

I'm not a defeatist
but all that jazz we get from pols about standing up and holding their feat to fire is a stupid meaningless platitude. I respect and voted for Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka. How does Jill purpose to hold their feet to the fire? Why are you lecturing us about being defeatist? Is this a Bernie type of rallying call to work within the Democratic party to get the most progressive platform eveer implemented? Giving the corrupt Dem. weasels including the so called progressives like Bernie who are entrenched in the Dem. party a hot foot won't do a damn thing.
A pox on both their houses, the duopoly owned and run by 'the oligarchical collectivists'. I did not vote for one Demorat on my ballot. Greens, socialists and liberal independent's all got my consent. Maybe I am a defeatist as I want them all defeated and gone daddy gone.
My hope lies with ordinary people globally who are starting to stand up and create their own movements like BLM, NoDAPL, India's worker strike, OWS. Ask me people need to let go of fear and the 'inevitable' duopoly from hell and organize outside their false reality. I'm going to a demonstration on the 18th of November to try and stop the demolishing of Portland brought to our city by the 'progressive' wing of the Democratic party and their partners in crime global banks, developers, investors and realtor's.
We've all seen their true colors thanks to this rigged election, wikileaks and the few brave writers left on the net. Nobody here is giving up we're just getting started as this selection is just the beginning. The Demorat's are immune to fire on their feet. They feel no pain, as they are insulated and have coated their hooves with flame retardant. They feel no pain or empathy for humans or the planet, despite Big Dog's saying so. Solidarity and standing globally with the 99% will be much more effective then holding their feet to a little heat.
hot foot
Well, maybe if it were a literal hot foot....

We the people have no leverage
Okay, so I am a little bit of a Pollyanna because I actually used to think that our votes were our leverage. But the Democratic primary showed me just how naive I was. We the people have absolutely zero power when it comes to influencing our representatives in Washington. Money talks and the only money that is really important is big money. Does anyone really believe that we can hold their feet to the fire when they really do not care, especially someone like Hillary Clinton whose campaign and she personally have shown such disdain for we the people.
But I still voted for Jill and I still voted on the ballot measures in Florida, but I refuse to vote in the Senate or House races which pit former Republicans against Republicans.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
"We the people have no leverage"- I completely agree
We aren't in the castle. We are the serfs throwing stones at the castle walls but we have someone on the inside of the castle that will fight for us.
Fighting power that you are a part of to me is the pinnacle of protest. Protesting what you know feeds your family, protesting when you know that self-advancement is hindered by it, protesting in the face of your friends and piers.
It takes courage to stand up and throw stones at the castle walls from the outside but it is 1 in 360 million that can make into the castle and throw stones at those inside without succumbing to the ways of the insiders.
